I agree 100% on the x arcade, but its my brothers unit and he wanted it simple for now, We may do some upgradeing in the future Thanks for the good comments

This is my fouth and definatly best build to date, I had lots of help though, it actually belongs to my older brother. It was designed after my first one called ARCADIA. You can see it about 3 pages back. The bigest design change was a drawer for the keyboard and mouse. The construction is alot better thought out being a second Generation My younger brother did all, well most of the design work for the Star Wars theme. We did all the vinyl work ourselves. And of course its running the best front end out there!!! GAMMEX!

I made the shortcut pointed the paths to it. I had to remove the rom filter dl2.lnk though because it couldnt find anything. I also changed it to PC game. Now when I try to play I get a windows error that says it cant find the exe. If I click the shortcut outside of gameex it plays fine. Ugg!

I put the paths to e:\ and gameex launches again. When I go to emulators dragons lair II is there. Click on it and it get a couple of option: autorun, dl2 and some other name. I can run either of the first 2 but I get the same issue. It runs behind gameex.

ok, now gameex crashes. Looking for Rom Path. what should I Put there?

Sorry Tom I misunderstood, In the CMD line of the configurator I have "DL2.exe" no quotes of course. The Path is "e:\". Show desktop is set to "Yes" . Map keys is set to "yes" and Keys to send is set to "f" for fullscreen. If thats not what you are asking for then I apologise.

This is driving me crazy. They look like they are the exact same application just with different content. Anyone else have any Ideas?

Yea , that was my plan. unfortunatly I purchased the CD-rom set instead of the DVD-rom set. So Im out of luck there. I was trying to salvage my 30 bucks and get these to work.

Show desktop is on. I need to check on the command line but it is set up exactly the same as Dragons Lair.

I just bought the 20th anniversary dragons lair pack CD-rom. I can get Dragons lair to work through the external app section fine but with the same settings dragons lair II will not work. Well it works but it plays behind gameex. The game starts but gameex comes back over the top. ANy Suggestions? Thanks

If your still looking for opinions.....I agree 100% that a name brand motherboard is better but, I purchased a Biostar MB and CPU combo for a price that was just to good to pass up and its been in my arcade for over a year now running nonstop. Thats 24/7. I never shut it off and it never goes into sleep mode.I was so pleased with the stability of it I bought another one for the second cabinet I built and it to has been great. As for the X Arcade controller. That is what I started out with. It worked very well for the money and ease of use but if I build another upright cab I will definatly without a doubt build my control panel from scratch. I have recently swapped out the x arcade joysticks with a pair of ultramarc slikstik 360's. The x arcade joystick switches started sticking and acting flaky after about 8 months of hardcore Robotron use I really like the slikstiks configurability and precision. I do however regret not buying the restrictor plates. I started out just playing Mame games but have since expanded to some regular PC titles so I have a add on video card. Eventually you may also, it seems to be the trend. Once you get building and playing you get this desire to do more So make sure whatever motherboard you choose it has a open AGP or PCI-E slot.

Yes, a steering wheel works fine to control gameex, At least my momo worked fine. I just plugged it in and it worked like a charm.

System Restore is found by clicking on your Program file list,accesories,system tools, then system restore. it is very easy to use.

I am happy to say (but sorry for your luck) that I have not had a single problem with mine. I do not use a IPAC however. I do have mine plugged into a powered usb hub which others have said would not work. Basically my cab is running a modified Xarcade with the joysticks replaced with the 360's and a xarcade trackball hooked up. I also have the USB lightguns from actlabs. My 360's have never lost connection and my cab is basically running 24/7 and gets used everyday by myself or my 12yr old daughter and her friends. Gameex is running most of the time except for when we are playing Midways Robotron or House of the dead 3. I hope you get yours sorted out and if I can help in any way let me know.

I mentioned this in another thread recently but you to may benefit from XP's system restore. Go back a week to when everything was working and see what happens. Good luck, need to get those 360's hummin again. By the way a member named cupid is working on a plugin to change the configs from within gameex. He mentioned it should be ready for primetime in the near future.

Sounds like Tom has it figured out but if not, might I suggest system restore. Go back a couple of weeks to when it was working and call it a day.

I have not had a problem with detection at all but I do not go into sleep mode. It definatley would be nice to be able to change the config from within Gameex. You dont however have to shutdown Gamex, use the old Alt-Tab back to the desktop change the config and click back to Gameex. I also have the control software in my startup folder so its sitting open on my desktop and waiting. Funny you mention Q-bert since thats what we have been playing As for the tops, Take a pair of pliers and grip the shaft tightly and turn the balls with your hand.(Wow that sounded dirty )

I just got a pair of these Joys and they work really great. I havnt had any problems with the pc, mame or Gameex detecting them. The abilility to change from 4 way to 8 way to diagnals in a matter of seconds is just awesome. My only complaint is they have a really long throw. You can order restrictor plates to shorten it, so I may do that. I am getting used to it pretty quickly though. anyway.... Happy New Year all and game on!
