  1. No. All my plugin does is make the P1 & P2 controls control P1 when launching a game. I use it so that when playing a two player (alternating turns) game you don't need to move away from the machine to allow the second player to use the controls. Even when playing by myself I like to use player two as it's joystick is more in the middle of the machine and more like the real thing.
  2. I was working on this last night and tried removing the plugin and I couldn't reproduce it. I tried putting the plugin back in and I still couldn't reproduce it. I think the theme got changed as well...not sure how that happened as I don't recall doing anything. I will chalk this up to something weird.
  3. Not sure where in this thread the logs and ini were requested but here they are... thanks! log.txt gameex.ini.txt
  4. Touchscreen setting is not enabled. I did some additional tests. If I move the mouse around in open area it works fine without any delays. It is when I need to mouse over something that it has issues.
  5. That is a good idea but wouldn't it effect how the mouse works in windows? It is almost as if something is lagging down the app in a long operation. I would have to do some additional testing but It is almost as if it happens when gameex is loading the screensshots or playing sounds.
  6. I recently installed a new monitor in my setup as the old tube finally died. After installing the new monitor I upgraded to the latest gameex. Now when running gameex I notice that the mouse pauses and jumps around (sometimes returning to where I started). The keyboard navigation seems to work fine. I am running the windows 7/64.I am also unsure of the version of gameex I was running but it had been a while since I upgraded. I hope I am clear enough on my explanation. Any ideas?
  7. That seems to have fixed it. It ran all night and didn't barf once. Thanks for your help.
  8. I did try that and got the same results. I will try that out and let you know how it goes.
  9. not sure where that is configured. 10. A while back the screen saver function in gamex stop working. I finally decided to take a look at it and looked in the log and found the following repeated for I image as many times and the screen saver was supposed to be started. 09:34:14.1 1/23/2009: Starting Attract Mode 09:34:14.1 1/23/2009: Exception occured running Attract Mode 09:34:14.1 1/23/2009: Attempted to read or write protected memory. Any ideas of where to start?
  11. I had that problem once with the last line in the log file being "Testing Main Loop Once: Main Loop ran successfully". It turned out to be that I either didn't have a new enough directX installed or it was never installed on that machine. I upgraded to the latest directx and it worked great.
  12. Controlinator V1.1 - Allow easy switching of the default MAME controls based on the players as defined in nplayer.ini Here is an update to my Controlinator plugin. This update includes a fix for a crash in the Plug-in Manager as well as automatically creating controller cfg files in your mame directory. To install follow the instruction in the included README.TXT file. Source is included. ControlinatorV1.1.zip
  13. That was my goal....to prove your wrong AGAIN
  14. Well, you are all a bunch of tools. But now back on topic. I found an exception that I am not sure why it was causing an issue, but I think I have fixed it. Here is a new dll. If it fixes the issue I will re-issue a new zip once I have added a few new items that I am thinking of. To install just extract the dll and copy it into your gamex/plugins folder. Chris Controlinator11b.zip
  15. I had thought of that but it is not as clean. I would imagine that it wouldn't be hard to add the ability to change the command line before the execution the MAMEEXE. Anyways, I will implement it this way. I want to be able to have a few global configs that would make it cleaner and not make the ctrlr directory a complete mess. I wanted to make it easy for the people who don't want to try and figure everything out. Sure, there is more than one way to skin a cat. I just wanted to give people the easiest way.
  16. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
  17. Go into the cfg directory and remove the game's cfg file in case it got corrupt somehow. You can also look at it. Also, look at the gameex.log file and see what the command line looks like. If you are using a -ctrlr file that does not contain definitions for p3+p4 then that might be the culprit.
  18. I have my plugin working except for the part where it appends the -ctrl <ctrlfile> to the exec line. Is there any way to intercept the command before it executes? I tried using "Event_GameRun" but that does not contain the cmd line. Thanks for any help. Chris
  19. What I am looking for is when you go to launch a game...say 1942 which is a 2p alternating game and the rom zip is 1942.zip. It would look up 1942 in nplayer.ini and it would find: 1942=2P alt. It would cross reference "2P alt" to a controller configuration file 2palt.cfg (or whatever it was called) and run mame with the proper command line. For example: mame -ctrlr 2palt 1942. This way I wouldn't have to have separate configuration files for each game. If this is something that could be done via a plug in then I might go ahead and write one...but I want to make sure it is possible before I put the energy into it.
  20. Is there a way to have game tell mame to load a different ctrlr file based on the data provided in nplayer.ini? I would like to be able to have mame use a different ctrlr file for "2P alt" games so that players don't have to move away from their joystick. The ctrlr file would have something like this: <port type="P1_JOYSTICK_UP"> <newseq type="standard">KEYCODE_UP OR KEYCODE_R</newseq> </port> Is it possible today or an enhancement request?
  21. Issue #1: My vpt files are named things such as machine (manufacturer) (year) (other info) (version).vpt When loaded in gamex I want the display to look like Machine I selected the options to remove the text in brackets but it only removes the last bracket thus leaving me with Machine (manufacturer) (year) Can we get a while loop here so it will remove the text in all the brackets? Perhaps a option to remove all would be better to make sure it doesn't break what people already have. Issue #2: When creating snaps for VP it works fine at first but after a number (unknown amount) of machines vp starts crashing on exit. I am using VP8.0 (I think) on XP. What I think is happening is that gameex is starting a new instance of VP before the old one has been completely removed from memory. Memory fragmentation from previous instantiations of VP maybe the cause of the delay in shutting down VP. I think if there were a configurable delay in between quitting and starting the next table it would allow windows to clean up memory. Also, after creating a number (again, unknown number) of snaps sometimes the snap is the vpinmame screen. If we could change from 10 seconds to another value this might prevented it.
