Sorry to make a topic for something that has been covered so much but I'm having trouble with visual pinball. First off I tried Brian's package off the home site but was getting no results with pinmame 2.1 and vp 9.3, game ex would just come back up after trying to load a table. So I have it setup now where it will attempt to open a table with visual pinball through game ex, but when visual pinball opens it pops up with a "table load error" Here is my current config, don't laugh if it's terrible [Emulator_8] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=Visual Pinball TITLETEXT=Visual Pinball StartPageLogo= ROMFilter=*.vpt RomPath=F:\Emulators\VisualPinball\Tables RomsInFolders=False SnapPath= TitlePath= BoxPath= CartPath= ManualPath= ControlPanelPath= InstructionsPath= WorkingPath=F:\Emulators\VisualPinball\Tables MapKeys= WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=True Debug= MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command="VPinball.exe" /open "[ROMFILE]" /play /exit LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= DontShowInfo= PlaySelectionMusic= SelectionMusicFolder= PCGame=False DATABASE= UseDbName= GamesIn7Zips= MergeSets= PlayInScreenSaver=True ShowMostPlayed= RandomMostPlayed= CDCheck= CDCheckFile= CustomArtName1= CustomArtPath1= CustomArtName2= CustomArtPath2= CustomArtName3= CustomArtPath3= [GENERAL] DumbyValue= All the roms I have tried to run through Game ex are fully working outside GameEx. I also got Future Pinball running perfectly through GameEx so I tried to splice some of that config into this config. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Yes this is true. Jombee, what you must do is under your Makaron emulator config, go the the second page and find the advanced config box. Hit edit, then go to the general tab, then under the "keys to send on exit" enter {F8} Now save it as whatever you like and then under advanced config select the file, hit save, and then play . GameEx will now use F8 to exit rather than escape. Meka Leka Hi!

Ah, thanks so much for that Brian. Games are working perfectly with that command line. Also, my files are .DAT but work fine. And yes, I am using the demul loader (I believe you wrote it?) and it is working great. Thanks for your contributions and I look forward to that documentation! EDIT: Quick question, does NullDC support command line as well?

+1 for this, I have been trying hard with no luck. I managed to get Atomis Wave games running fine in GameEx with nulldc but I too cannot get makaron running.

Glad to help. If you're going to build a control panel, don't make the mistake I did. I did all my setup and testing on my fightstick, and now that my cabinet is finished, going back in and changing everything in every emulator is a major pain.

Hello all, I have zinc set up properly to the best of my knowledge. The working path and .exe are set correctly in the advanced mame page. Zinc is enabled, and I updated my mame games list after installing zinc. Now I have the nice playstation mame category displayed, but when I hit "play this game" on any of the ps hardware games GameEx goes to black, my menu music fades out like it does before starting any mame game, and then suddenly GameEx reappears again. There are no windows chimes or notifications and the desktop is never shown so i have no idea what is going on. Oh and my zinc games are in my master roms folder, not in zincs own roms folder. One more thing, this line was in the zinc options line by default. --renderer=.\renderer.znc Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great news Tom. And like Tom said POV is currently unsupported. You will not be able to use your TE joystick to navigate gameEx until this is implemented. As far as everything Mame and emulator related, your TE stick will work just fine with no runaround. I've played with both the SE and TE madcatz sticks in mame and various emulators and had no problems. Oh and what you said about not being able to calibrate the stick, well that is because it has no analog input. It is strictly digital, the switches are either on or they're off. So there is really nothing to calibrate. And for editing your mame controls, just edit the first option where it says controls(all) or something along those lines. This will set all games to duplicate those buttons. However I'm sure you'll want to change certain games around (maybe line up 4 buttons for neo geo games) and that is what the controls(this game) option is for.

As far as game ex goes, the menus will not recognize your POV hat joystick. I replaced my fightstick joystick with the same JLF stick that is in your (tournament edition) stick. You can enable custom joystick controls in game ex and use the buttons on your controller but like I said the joystick will never work, unless of course you use something like xpadder. As far as mame goes, you mentioned that when you try and navigate only the enter button works. What are you trying to navigate? Your list of games or the in game setup menu? Either way the joystick will have no control over either of these things as these are mouse only areas. Try going into a game through mame, hitting tab, setting up the controls by hitting the respective keys on your stick, and then report back. I'm not sure if you have tried setting up your game controls yet.

This might sound stupid, but you do have the 360 controller drivers installed right? I'm using the SE fightstick for testing and mine works fine in all programs, including mame and game ex.

Alright, I solved it. It's strange, but adding a second new .mp3 caused the first one to be visible but left the newer one undetected. The song I wanted was written and saved into playlist.dat but the second song i added (a renamed copy of a confirmed working song) was not added to the list. Anyways, thanks for all the help Tom.
-
Yes, it does save the list as playlist.dat I deleted the playlist file completely, but upon relaunching GameEx the playlist file was back, listing only the old songs..... even though my new song was in the same folder as the old songs! I am adding a single .mp3, all of my current files are also .mp3s Thanks for the help Tom edit: Sorry still not home.

I am not at home now so I cannot post the .ini However, I am not using jukebox mode, I am using playlist mode. I do not believe that playlist mode reads out of the folder on start up each time. I think it creates an initial playlist file somewhere and that is what is causing the problems, because I can add any number of songs and none of them will play, however the 5 that I had in the folder when I set GameEx to playlist mode do work.

Hello all, I have been trying to add audio files to my current set of background music I already have running. I am not using jukebox, GameEx just plays audio files out of the folder I have it directed to when the program starts. However, upon adding files to this folder, the new audio files will not register with GameEx. I searched the forums and found the same problem with the Jukebox, and the suggestion was to delete all jukebox dat files. The problem is I don't know which files to delete when I am not using jukebox. I found a "playlist" file in the game ex data folder that had all of my songs listed on it. I tried deleting it to rebuild the cache but the same file returned when the program restarted, so there must be another file hidden somewhere with audio data. I also tried simply adding the directory and song name to the playlist file, but when I launched GameEx and checked again the file had deleted the song that I added. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you could do this using custom menus. Custom menus is a program that is run outside GameEx, you should be able to access it from the start menu in your GameEx folder. Anyways, just form a new menu and only add the favorites list. Make sure to check "enable custom menus" and then launch GameEx. Now all you should see is the option for favorites. Some of this might be a little off as I don't have access to my cabinet right now but you should be able to work from what's there. Good luck!

Yes you do have a good point and some of the work I am doing now will be redundant. But a lot of it is trial and error with getting things to run inside GameEx like Naomi and Street Fighter IV so I just need some sort of input to test that is easily and quickly configurable.
-
Ah ok, thanks again. it's no problem to set up my control panel now, I'm just not looking forward to hour of crimping and daisy chaining wires, haha.
-
Sorry I should have been more specific. it's a hori fightstick designed for xbox 360. However with drivers it has worked for everything on in windows flawlessly, including everything in GameEx except this case of directional navigation. It uses a POV hat.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am in the process of doing mass configuration in game ex for my cabinet. I am doing all the setup and testing with a usb arcade stick, but eventually Game Ex will be running with an IPAC. However for right now I need help on getting the custom joystick input to recognize my USB gamepad's joystick, as I said before it recognizes the buttons fine but does not recognize the joystick. Thanks for your support.

Hello all, I've been using GameEx for a few years now, and am now about 70% done with my first arcade cabinet. I am having trouble mapping my joysticks switches to act as navigational buttons for up, down, left and right in the GameEx menu. I can map the arcade buttons to the custom joystick input easily, but when I try to set anything as a joystick input, nothing happens. The press a button dialog box just remains open. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome thanks for the quick replies.

Hello all, just wondering if there is a way to transition into the emulators I run through gameex smoothly. What I mean is that when I choose to play an emulator, gameex minimizes the desktop is shown, and then my emulator program opens up. Then when I quit the emulator it does the same thing vice versa. I'm wondering if there is a way to transition without seeing the desktop and my emulator opening up. Is there a way to possibly get just a black screen in between the opening of the emulator? I say this because I am running gameex in a homemade cabinet and it really kills the cool and fun mood when you see the desktop and another program opening up.
