Tom - Did you happen to catch anything yet? I can't seem to find anything causing it to do what it is doing. On my tankstick, I only use the joystick directional, select, back and esc keys while in gameex. So far, the only key which seems to work for me is the esc key. With this said, I can use the track ball as a mouse, but what I have noticed is that when I highlight one of the menu items, it automatically scrolls back up, regardless of what menu I'm in... almost as if its stuck in the up position. I can post a video if it will help clarify my issue.

yea yea yea, When I went back and saw what I posted I was basically like this At least I knew what I was trying to say

Sorry about that long post guys, I was thinking it may have been a long post Interesting thing, I have two custominput.ini files? I did a search within the GameEx directory and found the attached two files. One with a date of 6/16/08 and one with a date from yesterday (when the problem occurred) I'm thinking this may just be a simple fix where I delete one of the .ini files, but its weird because I haven't made any changes to my configuration in quite some time... BK- Yes I am using custom inputs, but not using joysticks... I should clarify this a bit more guys, when I mean joystick, I'm talking about my tankstick joysticks and what not. I can tap a button during the intro to bypass it, but any movement within me menu's is non existent, with the exception of the button I have routed for escape. I have verified they are working in notepad... **EDIT** Rechecked, and it appears that the 2nd customconfig.ini was from backup I did last year, so Gameex should be looking at only one file. ALSO Tom, I think you just implemented another update today and now it plays about a second of my intro video and then goes right into the main menu. Custominput.zip

For some reason, I can't upload my ini file... who knows. I haven't had this problem before.
-
didn't want to upload the other file...

New update... joystick no longer working. Verified configuration and nothing has changed yet I have no movement in Gameex. Something to do with 10.01
-
That fixed it Tom. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the update Tom. Can I assume that the fourth item: "Fixes issue where games do not match on game info page" was referring to the issues that some people were having with Scumm? If it was, I'm still having the same issues I have added a few games to the database, but I think that may be irrelevant considering it worked fine in the past. It's hard to describe the issue, but if you want, I can take a video of it and send to you.
-
I'm not quite sure, haven't spent much more than the initial 30 minutes on this last week, but will have to give it a shot this week. Just curious as to why it would have changed all of a sudden. But you may be right regarding the read only properties, but did the actual database change last update? For some reason, I don' t think the database is the actual problem.
-
A bit off topic but I great program to take amazing video and snaps is fraps (http://www.fraps.com/). I have too many systems on my arcade which are not yet available at emumovies, especially @ 640x480. In addition to this, I have my cabinet set up to show the video preview in the background so anything less than 640x480 just looks bad. For me, recording 640x480 video and having higher res titles is awesome. The only downside to this is that after to take a screen shot, you would have to go back and rename the file to match the game, minor inconvenience if you ask me. If you don't mind forking over $38 for the registered version, I would highly recommend it.

Holy crap... I thought I was the only one having that problem! I love gameex but when you do the updates, sooner or later things that were working great no longer work so great. A prime example was with being able to unzip cd images and mount them back around the 9.7 time frame. I know this problem has been fixed but it wasn't until I spent hours unzipping them manually. Back on topic though, I've noticed the same problem. One or two games match properly, but I would say a good portion of them are off, and its not a set amount off. Example would be choosing a game, i.e. monkey, once selected, it would show the game listed 2 below that in the database. Choose a different game and it would display the game 5 spots below that. I'm not sure if I'm doing a good job explaining this... I disabled the database, and the selected games work as they should (with the exception of game information), but after 30 minutes of pure frustration, I've given up on trying to figure out the problem. This is a recent issue as I know the last time I used Scumm was probably around the 10 or 10.02 release. I'll post a config when I get home but nothing has changed in my configuration, so I really think it has to do with the database or something with the programming? I've had some head scratchers in the past year, but this one is one of strangest yet.

Been a registered member for quite some time... Is no one else having this issue? I can't find anything wrong with this config

I'm just trying to set up a simple mapping of the keys for Scumm. I want to map the left and right mouse keys to my first 2 button on my tankstick, so Left Control and Left Alt # This is an advanced emulator configuration file. It does things such as allow keyboard only emulators to be operated by a gamepad, wait for additional processes to exit and map keys. If this file is used it overrides the MAPKeys setting for the emulator. [GENERAL] # Enabled. Use this. Enabled=True #Make MCE Back button and X-ARCADE Escape and SlikStik Escape to close emulator process MapBack=False #Make Escape key close emulator process MapEscape=False #When exiting an emulator via the above mappings, you can specify keys in the send keys format to send instead of having GameEx close the process to cleanly exit the emulator. Such as the Q Key or ALT F4 which is %{F4} KeysToSendOnExit=%x #Wait for keys to be processed by the emulator EmuWaitForKeys=True #Additional processes to wait to exit or close on exit. Dont include the .exe. Leave blank not to use. Process1= Process2= Process3= Process4= [JOYMAPPING] # For mapping a GamePad to keys # Specify a virtual key code to send when the specific joystick control is pressed. Look at vkcodes.htm for codes. JoymappingEnabled=False Left= up= Right= Down= Button1= Button2= Button3= Button4= Button5= Button6= Button7= Button8= Button9= Button10= Button11= Button12= Button13= Button14= Button15= Button16= [GAMEPADEXIT] #MAP Gamepad controls to exit and make controls exit process MapGamePadExit=True #Flag the controls that exit a game by placing True next to each control. To not use the control as part of the combination use a 0 Left=True Down= Right= Up=True Button1= Button2= Button3= Button4=True Button5=True Button6=True Button7= Button8= Button9= Button10= Button11= Button12= Button13= Button14= Button15= Button16= [MOUSEMAPPING] # For registered users, the ability to control the mouse with a gamepad and/or directional keys. # For example for PC strategy games. # Apparantly this functionality is similar to the software Pinnacle profiler. Remember you can setup an emulator # as one PC game. Specify enabled, and mousespeed 0-20. 20 Being fastest. This setting overrides the directional # mapping for the above and buttons 1 and 2 Button 1/CTRL becomes left mouse. Button 2/ALT Right mouse MouseMappingEnabled=False MouseSpeed=0 [BLOCKKEYS] # Use this section to disable and block key presses and mouse clicks. # To disable the mouse clicks use code 1 for left mouse button, # 2 for right button and 4 for middle button Enabled=False BlockKey_1=1 BlockKey_2=2 BlockKey_3=4 BlockKey_4= BlockKey_5= [KEYBOARDREMAP] # Remap Keys for the emulator. Specify from the from key, which is the key you wish to replace the to key # This should be good enough for real time gaming. Registered version feature. Look at VKCodes.htm for codes. Enabled=True Remap_1_From_VK=1 Remap_1_To_VK=162 Remap_2_From_VK=2 Remap_2_To_VK=164 This doesn't appear to work at all. What am I missing here? What I thought was odd was though was that that 1,2, 164, and 162 are not in the VKCodes file, would this explain why its not working and if so, why did the editor put these values in?

Tom, I think there still may be an issue here. I've been talking with Frequency regarding a issue that neoraine will not load a game when zipped, only when they are unzipped - which apparently he has already discussed with you about this. He then pointed me in the direction of a script which I believe puts a delay on daemon tools. The problem doesn't exist here though. What I've noticed is that Sega CD (using fusion) and neoraine both load the .cue files themselves, not daemon tools. Other emulators such as SSF and magic engine require a virtual drive. TSSF and ME do not have these problems, its only fusion and neoraine. I play Sega CD from time to time so I can't pinpoint exactly when this started happening, but it appears that with the last 2 releases .87 and .88. Surely I can't be the only one having this issue. Thanks for any insight -Joe
-
Because of this, I figured I would give my other emulators a shot as well.. They all seem to be fine but I did notice that it appears that Sega CD w/ FUSION also has the same problem. For some reason, when you have the files zipped and the emulator is reading the .iso / .cue file (rather than a virtual drive) it doesn't load. If you are running Fusion for Sega CD, give it a shot.. The only way I have gotten it to work was by unzipping the files. This is obviously something to do with the latest release of game ex.
-
Ahhh Frequency, you are the man! So possible Gamex issue ehh?? Looks like I have a bit of unzipping to do now
-
Well I tried and had no success. If I use -nogui, it closes out of gameex, loads neoraine, then goes back into gamex. If I don't use -nogui, it just loads the emulator, and I have to click on load game. Seems a bit odd considering that was the only difference between ours. I guess I'll keep at it.

Right. I've left the command line the way it is - that is if you were adding an emulator to your list. When I do this, it just loads the emulator, thats it. When I add the -nogui, it acts as if it loads it, then after about 3-5 seconds, its back into gameex. I wonder if its because of the zip files and it needs to go to the 7 unzipped directory instead.. I guess what I was really trying to get at is if anyone else is having this issue. Frequency - Are your games zipped?
-
Is there a command I can use other than the standard neoraine32.exe [RomPath]\[RomFile]?? I ask because doing it this way, all gameex is doing, is loading the emulator and thats it. Any game has to be loaded manually I saw there was a -nogui command, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions? This is version 1.2.2 btw. Joe

You know, I actually had a similar problem about a month or so. Initially the problem I had was with a bogus torrent I downloaded. Found a complete one, and like you, maybe 1/3 of the games would load, the others would just go to a blank screen for about 1-2 seconds and back into gamex. It appeared it was doing this for all my favorites like monkey island 1 & 2 and indiana jones. The only way I got around it was by using the wrapper utility created by headkaze and greatflash. The files which list the roms are dummy files which gameex will identigy as the list of games. With this said, I just replaced each file with a .bat file to run the game. The following is an example of what one .bat file would look like. @echo off start d:\Emulators\scummvm\scummvm.exe -f -pd:\scummvm\roms\monkey2\ monkey2 As you can see here, very simple. Load the .exe, then go to full screen, then to the path of the rom I'm not sure why some worked and some didn't and to be honest with you I'm not sure if this is even the most practical way to do it, but it worked for and every game works great! Thats my 2 cents at least. I'm tired of asking all the questions. -Joe

This may be a bit more painful then I anticipated Oh well. Thanks for the advice though.
