Well, after additional fooling around, looks like I had a typo in my mame.ini that the command line version of mame was ignoring. For some reason, GameEx was adjusting the brightness way high instead of ignoring the invalid option. Anyway, probably solved!

Just getting my Game-Ex configuration up and running and seem to have most of the problems resolved, expect one. When playing most of the games, my monitor (A Well's Gardner D9200) is way too bright once the game starts. A good example is 1942. The screen is so bright that it becomes washed out and is very hard to see. The monitor is fine in the Game-Ex menu and in Windows. Also, when I hit ESC to exit the game, for a brief second, the video looks normal (i.e. not too bright). The video is also fine if I start the game from mame in command line mode, so obviously, GameEx is doing something here. I've played with most of the video settings and looked in the config file, but with no luck. Can anyone offer suggestions? Thanks
