- Lord, now that I got my gamepad today it really is annoying to have to wheel back over to the desk everytime I want to go back to GameEx cuz I know the video is going to be too loud. Does anyone know how to get into the config for FDDshow so I can mess around?
-
It's probably just something with the videos, they way they were captured or something. I don't know. Maybe just my players. The only Video snaps I have right now are a lot of .avi for N64 games. They all came from the same source, so it could be that. Anways, I've setup PSX now, and once again I'm running into issues. I think I'm the worst person at this in the entire world. I think it all comes down to what you put in "Command Line" and I am clueless. When I load a Rom in PSX, through GameEx, it does the white screen with the PS1 logo then cuts straight to the memory card screen. If I load the game not in GameEx it works fine. So yea, I'm pretty sure all of the issues I've been having are just user error when I setup the emulators in GameEx. I'll be back in a couple hours, load up those configs for me so I can see the correct way to do it =D

I just tried the 2 files in the Jukebox. Symphony 9 and..something else. They both played at perfect Volume. I have the Music Volume set to 50. in GameEx.

Oh lord, I cleared ePSXe from my Emulators list so I could just recreate/config it. Now it isn't in the choices list anymore. haha.

Sorry, yes. I don't have any snaps or text for my PSX games yet, so it's not a big deal if we can't figure it out. All of a sudden my "[Console] Sony Playstation (ePSXe).ini " has changed to this. It is still showing up in the Setup Wizard how I set it up.

Loads up the last game I played with ePSXe. Video and Audio working. This is with no Emulator or GameEx running when I open it. -- When I run the File Verifier I get this ROMFilter (*.mdf): No files found in "C:\Roms\PSX". ROMFilter (*.bin): No files found in "C:\Roms\PSX". Game Manuals Path: "C:\Emulation\Assets\Console\Sony PlayStation\Manuals\" does not exist. Map File: "C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\[Console] Sony Playstation.map.map" does not exist. The first 3 don't concern me because, well..there aren't any of those types of files for a reason right now. I don't understand the map file though. Is that for keymapping?

I don't keep anything in my startup menu. A search for runlastgame on my HDD produced no results.

Another issue has now arisen. I've grabbed ePSXe, and I'm having the same issue I had previously with PJ64.. where the games would load as a black screen with audio. I fixed this before by changing PJ64 to load all roms fullscreen automatically. I believe I have this setup with ePSXe, but it hasn't fixed the issue. So once again I find myself here looking for more help =) I'm assuming the problem is with a .map or .ini file? I have this in C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\[Console] Sony Playstation (ePSXe).ini Enabled: YES Import Emulator: Export Emulator: Start Page Name: SONY PLAYSTATION Title Text: PSX Logo: PSX ROM Filter: *.IMG;*.MDF;*.BIN ROMS in Folders?: NO ROM Path: C:\Roms\PSX Snap/Video Path: Title Snap Path: Box Art Path: Cartridge Art Path: Working Path: C:\Emulators\ePSXe 1.6 Map Keys: YES Wait Before Keys: Keys To Send: Replace Dashes: YES Replace Underscores: YES Capitalise Words: YES Remove Text in Brackets: NO Show Desktop: YES Debug Mode: NO Map File: Also Launch: Command Line: EPSXE.EXE -NOGUI -LOADBIN "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Offline List DAT Zip: Launch Before: Launch After: Advanced Config: Excluded Files: Custom Background: Play Music: Treat as 1 PC Game: NO Database: 7-Zip/Good Merge: This is my ePSXe graphics setup. Games run fine if I don't use GameEx.

Argh!! I thought I had it. My default player is VLC, and whenever I opened a video the audio was stupid loud. I changed the settings and made it open videos a lot quieter, I was so happy.... Then I opened GameEx and the videos are still playing stupid loud. Let me go through all of my media players, maybe it isn't using my default one. Edit - Now I'm even more stumped. I only have VLC and WMP. Both have now had their default playing audio levels lowered, videos are still playing super loud in GameEx. The gaming gods have thwarted me. So maybe GameEx is ignoring my player's settings, or maybe GameEx uses it's own player?

Yea, I have the music volume set to 8, it has no effect on the video snaps' audio. It's for things like if you have background music when idling GameEx and stuff. The issue I'm having probably has to do with whatever GameEx uses to play the videos, the volume must be blaring on that. There is no real in program volume control for GameEx, all it is doing is changing your computer's Master Volume. I have to turn it as close to off as possible and it's still a bit loud when the videos play.It just sucks that I can't hear anyone talk on Vent while I'm choosing the game I want to play, and I have the mute it (or put on headphones) if the GF is asleep. It's not a program breaking issue, just an inconvenience. I'll deal with it.

Yea, no. My computer is setup so my speakers are turned to about 50%, my PC volume is 50%, my Winamp is 50%, PJ64 is 50% ..etc. Everything sounds perfect and it gives me the ability to lower and raise my volume in any way I want. Yet for some reason when I play a video in Game Ex the sound is so loud I cringe. Basically what you are asking me to do is to turn my speakers down to like 10% and raise the volume on every program I use and turn every program I use up to 90%? Can't I just adjust the volume somewhere in GameEx? =D

Awesome, thanks a ton guys. Any idea on why my video snaps playback so loud?
-
Ok, apparently the version of FFDShow I downloaded was too new or something. grabbed the one of the GameEX site and it works now. -- Edit Now when I choose a game to play, the screen goes black and I can hear the game but the video doesn't load. This only happens if I try to load the Rom through GameEx, and not manually in Project 64. Also all of the sounds through GameEx are really really really loud. I have to turn my volume to 1 for it to be bearable. Sounds coming through Project 64 are fine (because there is a volume slider).

I setup Project64 in GameEx, and I have a bunch of Manuals and Videos for a lot of the Roms. When I choose a Project64 game in GameEx that has a video, FDDshow pops up and asks me if I want to use it(FDDshow) or not. If I choose not to use FDDshow, GameEx goes black and in minimizes to desktop. I can hear the audio playing. Bringing GameEx back up just makes it auto-minimize again, unless I can quickly select a game that has no video. If I choose to use FDDshow, GameEx stays up, but the video part stays black. I can hear the audio, but then GameEx freezes up (audio still playing) and I have to relog to get control of my PC back. I'll be the first to admit that setting up GameEx has confused the hell out of me and I probably just did something wrong somewhere. I have no idea what, though. Here's a quick snap of my Project 64 setup.
