  1. Hey RedDog, I noticed that "illegal character" statement but when I went to check my Setup Wizard for any funny characters, the strange thing about it was that all my emulators were wiped out. i had to go select and setup each off my emulators all over again. I am not sure what happened.I was opening up Gameex just fine and checking out some Visual Pinball Roms through Gameex and walked away a bit to do somethin else but when I returned to open up Gameex, I started getting the message and my emulators were no longer showing up in Gameex. I never actually seen an ini file in my Gameex file. I have read about them a lot here on the site and have seen them requested a lot but I don't think I have actually seen one on my setup before. I am sure I will be informed now that there has to be an ini file somewhere but I just don't think I have come across. Where else should I look for it?
  2. Every thing was going well. I performed that recent update yesterday, I believe but after that, every thing was fine. I even played some games through Gameex today without issue. But now it won't even start up. Now it says: "Sorry. An error was encountered" and lists the following:
  3. It still doesn't work. I still get the same error message. In my Daphne folder, there is a subfolder titled "framefile" but there is nothing in it. I wonder if that is the issue.
  4. Great. Thanks. Time to tinker a bit...
  5. Well, I used the Daphne_loader which pretty much put the roms onto my pc it seems. After it placed the roms on my pc, I can play each games without having my disc in the disc drive. I just start up daphne on my desktop and pick a game and it will run. The challenge if for me to get it going in Gameex though.
  6. I just noticed that your paths do not specifically point to your roms folders in the setup wizard either. I am not sure how Gameex is finding your Dragon's lair roms to play them.
  7. It does. Thanks. I am about to use this to see if I can get a bit further. For your Daphne games options it gives a path with laserdisc in it. Do you keep your DVD in the drive in order to play each game? I thought all you needed was the roms on the pc and you didn't need the laserdisc to play the games through Gameex. I say this because if you noticed the last lines of my Dapphne_log posted above, it says: " Could not open framefile : R:\ARCADE\Daphne\lair_HD\lair_hd.txt Could not initialize laserdisc player! "
  8. I will accept anything that may be helpful. Please send...
  9. I bought Dragon"s Lair so I am trying to get Daphne to run it in Gameex. It won't run. All I get is a black screen. When I check the Daphne_log it says: Now, I have already downloaded the Daphne loader from the website and set up dragon's Lair 1 and 2 as well as Space Ace to run on my PC but I want everything running thriough Gameex. I have 2 folders on my desktop: 1 for the Daphne files such as the Daphne.exe and another for the Daphne Roms for all the above games which are in zipped. I am not sure where in the Setup Wizard I am supposed to put the path for the roms. I did a Google search and the most helpful info I could find was some posts by Brian Hoffman in the Gameex fourm https://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/3860-daphne-configuration-tutorial/#comment-22960 This helped me a bit but I still don't understand the setup process in the wizard. Can someone please further enlighten me?
  10. Thanks man. All heroes don't wear cape, bro, and you are my hero. Believe me, I...ain't...fiddling-with-*** when it comes to this setup! This is all I need. I disabled Windows 10 automatic updates and everything so nothing can be updated that will screw up my setup. I am happy and content. That PC is now officially and strictly dedicated to my Gameex arcade setup. If I catch anyone even trying to do anything besides run Gameex on that cabinet there is going to be World War III down in my man cave!
  11. It's working now. I am not sure how it happened. I just read your posts and said to myself "well, when I get home, I better switch back to Project64 so Reddog can help me out." So as soon as I got home, I let my dog out then ran right for my arcade cabinet like I was an 8 year-old on Christmas. I used the setup wizard to put Project64 back into Gameex and decided to check for the 1 billionth time to see if it work and it did. I don't know what happened or what was done differently this time... I do get a message whenever I exit a N64 game in Gameex though. It was probably the error message I was getting all along but just couldn't see it due to the black screen. It says "switching resolutions failed to initialize direct3d." It flashes this message for less than a second then returns to desktop but , again, it shows it only when I voluntarily exit a game. You guys do not know how happy I am right now. You just do not know how happy I am... This is so very satisfying. Thanks for offering a hand...
  12. I still have not found a solution. I am pretty sure the key to all of this is within the Gameex frontend. I have tried JNES, Project64, and 1964. All emulators work just fine in Windows, outside of Gameex but when I try to load ROMs in Gameex, I get a brief black screen then I get returned to the Gameex dashboard. I get a similar reaction with all 3 emulators. I also tried changing a bunch of the settings within each emulator but none of it helps. I tried comparing settings to my Nintendo Ent. System setting in the Setup Wizard and tried making them both similar but that does not help. If someone can send me any info that may be helpful, I'd appreciate it.
  13. Ok, we're getting somewhere now... I changed the command line to: Project64.exe [rompath]\[romfile] and now when I select a game, it will start up but all I get is a blackscreen but I hear the audio. just to clarify, I left out the quotes in the above command line because when I left them in, I would just get a black screen that would no longer return to the Gameex dashboard and I would hear an error message popup but could not see it. I also would get no sound from the game I was trying to load. Once I deleted the quotes, the game seem to load normally with sound but it was just a blackscreen. I exited Gameex and loaded the game in Project64 on my desktop and everything worked fine. Addendum: whenever I exit Gameex, the quotes in the command line automatically return but whenever they are there, I don't even get the sound of the game and still get the black frozen screen. I have to sign out of Windows when that happens.
  14. I just noticed that the text I posted in my original post above lists the command line related to my NES instead of the N64. Is this an error or does it still show you that the command line info is the problem?
  15. How do I correct this?
  16. Hi, I finally have Gameex up and running well and overall, it is a great feeling. Mame is running well and looking great and my NES emulator is working well and I can play NES games without a proble. My only problem is getting Project64 Nintendo 64 games to run. Project64 runs well outside of Gameex with no problem. I can play all of my games from windows, however, when I try to play them through Gameex, they won't load, I tried going through the steps from Tempest's thread several years back but couldn't follow all of the troubleshooting steps well. The problem is when I try to load a game, it goes to a black screen briefly then return to the preview screen and the games never load.
  17. Thanks. Will definitely keep that in mind. Off of work now so it's tinkering time.
  18. You are right. My problem is that I cannot rest when I can't figure anything out. I will sacrifice sleep and anything associated with it until I figure it all out.
  19. I just don't know why this wiki page wasn't showing up in my Google searches. That is just crazy. It still does not show the steps leading up to this but once you realize that this is the bog difference between the two Gameex download, it all becomes astronomically easier...every thing is easy once you know it, right? Just my 2 cents...consider stating that one download is strictly for Mame and the other is for other emulators on the description of each. You have to think of the idiots whenever you put together anything.
  20. Thank you, RedDog! Thank you! *Sobs uncontrollably with tears of joy* You just saved my mental status, man! Thanks for explaining this. This information is not clearly stated in the download section for this frontend. They really should clear this up or maybe I am just not smart enough. Either way, make it clear enough for even idiots to understand and call it Gameex for Idiots! This is how this thread was going: Me: Can someone please tell me how to get to Chicago from here? Local resident of small town: Well, just type into Google maps where you want to go and it should show you how to get there. Me: I have tried typing it into Google Maps but it won't tell me. Local Resident of small town: Well, it depends on how you want to travel to Chicago. Me: I will travel any way possible to Chicago...plane, train or automobile. Please just give me any way to get there. Local resident of small town: Well, I can tell you how to find information someone wrote on how he got to Chicago in the past. Me: I read that information and the directions are confusing. Can you just tell me? Local resident: Well, we all want you to get to Chicago. We don't want to just spoon feed you directions. Directions are sometimes not easy and you will need to learn how to navigate to different cities in your life someday... Local resident #2: Wait, you have the wrong version of Google maps on your phone. The version of Google Maps you have on your phone only works for directions in this town. It does not give you directions out of town. Me: *Downloads complete version of Google Maps, types in Chicago, IL and then drives away to Chicago* I thank both of you for your efforts. I am so happy right now. I was trying to troubleshoot my issue. With all of these downloads to setup an arcade cabinet, everything is not always so straightforward and it is difficult to know if you are using the right software or download. This is why I asked to just tell me the steps of how one would add emulators in the Gameex setup Wizard. If I had known those steps and then took them and did not see a step for adding an emulator, I would have known that something was wrong and tried the other available download (the Gameex standard edition). After more than 3 weeks of little sleep, I am going to sleep like a baby tonight...
  21. Trust me Draco, I do a mind-numbing amount of reading for my career and hobbies on a daily basis. I have read so much on frontends, emulators and watched so many videos over the past 3 weeks of my life that it is unimaginable. I built a PC and cabinet to run emulators for the first time in my life 1 month ago and had to read up on all of this. I had no experience doing any of that beforehand. Just for me to learn about PCs and all of the different parts was very, very intense. Then I had to read about all of the different frontends, emulators, controllers like Tanksticks and Xtension controller, light guns, etc,. over the past month. I am a compulsive researcher and self-learner so when I get to the point where I am begging for help, I really need it. For example, that link you posted above, I read it last night many times (Tom could tell you that I was up past 1am last night emailing him). Anyway, I was hoping it would become clearer but if you read it carefully at part #2, the instructions becomes vague and it doesn't tell you how to get to "All Programs" or where to even find this. In the Setup Wizard or what? The problem is that many people who try to help just give too many vague descriptions and don't take into account someone who is not a master of this stuff. My motto is always to explain it someone as if you are teaching them to defuse a bomb. If they get it wrong once, the bomb will go off. That is how I prefer to be instructed when I am learning something new such as a frontend like Gameex.
  22. Draco, I am trying to figure out how to add "any" emulator what-so-ever to Gameex. How do you add any emulator to the Gameex frontend? The setup wizard seems to show favoritism for Mame but there is seems to be no way to select another system to add to Gameex. I have searched the Setup wizard up and down and read posts dating several years back and nothing is clear or seems to be relevant to what I downloaded on this site for gameex. For example, in Maximus Arcade, you simply go to PREFERENCES then to CONFIGURATION and then you simply set the path to the executable file for any emulator you want. How do I do it for Gameex? If I wanted to add Sega, Xbox or PS4 console emulators to gameex, is there no simple, user-friendly way to do it? Do you need to be very computer-savvy to do this or is there a tab or a tick box I can just click to add an emulator in the Setup Wizard? Please let me know. Maybe Gameex is not for me but I was under the assumption that it was one of the easier frontends for novices like me. If it is not, that is fine, I will just move on with my life. Thanks.
  23. I did that . I could find nothing helpful. Please just type up some instructions for me on how to step-by-step navigate to the emulator add screen in the Gameex setup wizard. Please. I am losing my sanity over this. Thousands of dollars invested in this project at this point so I can't turn back now. Please... A major issue from doing Google searches seem to be that much of the posts are several years old and I think the Gameex software must have changed since then so a lot of stuff I am reading seems to be irrelevant now.
  24. I am still having no luck in finding out exactly how to add an emulator to this frontend. Can someone just please tell me how to navigate to the emulator add screen in Gameex or the setup wizard. That is all I need to know.
  25. You mind typing that link again? This one does not work.
