Many thanks for fast reply, have tried just about everything i can think of but not having much luck. Don't think it is hardware related as am running on ibm thinkcentre p4 ht 3ghz 2g ram ati x700. xp sp2 Have worked around it for now by making a batch file run at start-up which sets colour to 32bit then starts vlc media player fullscreen and plays the intro video, when its done it changes the colour back to 16bit and starts GameEx. so start vid good, menu transitions good, just some screen saver videos not so good. (can live without them for smooth menu movement) I think the problem may have to do with the video codec i am using. I have had problems with fddshow codec crashing gameex in the past, and am using xvid 1.1.3 ..can't remember exaxctly why it was that i set it up this way now, was either something to do with daphne emu running rotated or video snaps not showing without it. am going to chicken out updating as have everything else just spot-on. (will try again when have another machine to try fresh install from ground - up ) was also wondering, is there a way to alter the aspect ratio of the media player that is used to display the videos when the screen saver is run ? ..I have the moniter mounted vertically in my cab and all the videos end up stretched "taller" than they ought to be. Hi, i have found that the menu transitions run much smoother on my set-up when i set the colour to 16bit. however this seriously down-grades the quality of start up movie and any movies used in the screen saver. ..is there anyway to have the menu display in 16 bit and the movies played in 32 bit ? thanks, Rich. ps am using an older version of gameex i like the old style menu transitions where the text all moves off the side of the page at the same time.

Thanks, for that. Am happy enough with ultrastick set-up "as is" at the moment. (hard work all done ) -just means i have to make a map when ever i add a game. (or at least copy one and rename it) think I might have a go at getting it up and running again further down the road or if i make a machine for some one else so they could just add what games they wanted without having to mess with making maps. Will leave alone for mo . But thanks again anyways -Rich.

Hi, There is one thing I have been wondering about and that is ...is it possible to reduce the voulume of arcade ambiance if you have it playing whilst you are browsing through your list of mame games ? i like the idea of having it there but would like it a bit more in the background and less "in your face" the avi snaps have there own sound and i would rather hear them above the arcade ambiane mp3. Ps thanks tempest, was getting "off topic" b4.

Hi, yes thanks for the pointer. I have used the ultra stick plug in, managed to get it to give me a table showing each game and whether it was 4-way 8-way analog etc. (which was very helpfull later) But it kept telling me that it hadn't initalised at start up of gameex -couldn't find what I was doing wrong ... so ended up creating 500 or so maps ( there are only 5 or so maps really - with the odd one like q-bert being a bit different) i gave each the name of the rom it was for . I then just put a command line to launch the map "[ROM].ugc" in the "Run on Launch" section of the advanced mame set-up part of the wizard. and another in the "Run on Exit" to tell it to go back to being 4-Way -so the menu can be used. Hell of a long way round I know ! But I only had to do it once & it always works. ...I guess i should have come here and asked where i was going wrong with it ..would probably have been easier. PS would recomend the ultrastick 360 to any one considering using it. TOP PIECE OF KIT ! have got circular restrictor plate and stiffer spring. ...have given it months of ..."TESTING" and have no complaints (knew i would hate having pacman getting stuck in corners with an eight way stick and my fav games include hang-on and star wars so had to get some thing to play these.

IS COOL Just good to get some pointers -JOB DONE- My usa pac-man cocktail cab is now one more large step nearer compleation. Have had to figure out lots of stuff on the way ...hidding windows .. command line for daphnee setting up maps for ultra stick etc.. never posted here before so just glad to have any help. - All the best -Rich.

Hi Brian, Thanks for that, Have been using the set-up wizzard. after looking all the way through it and not been able to find any "Language" option I realised i might start gameex up and look in the configuration heading under "more games and programs " !! found language heading and altered to custom still unsure of exactly how to acheive what I want to do, but at least thats definatly one step closer any tips would be welcome thanks -Rich ***** EDIT TO POST ***** !!!
