I figured out what it was. For some reason using high quality MP4 video snaps would randomly crash Gameex. When I switched to low quality the problem was resolved.
-
In MameUI32, all of my games work fine. When launching games through Gameex, they randomly lock up and crash the system. The music for the game will start playing, but it will be stuck on an unresponsive black screen. At that point I have to reboot the system. I thought it was a bug with Hide os, and after disabling it, it happened less frequently, but it still happens eventually every time. GameEx.ini log.txt

Yes, that's exactly what I want! It's just weird that the radio station waits to restart and arcade ambiance can't come back.
-
When set to false it does the same thing.
-
Thanks for the response! I can stop the radio station from playing with the stop key, but the station still remains queued and arcade ambiance will not resume, but the station will as soon as I hit the resume button. At least on the jukebox you can clear the queue while in the jukebox section. Not so with the radio stations.

Is anyone else having trouble using "more games and programs?" I'm just trying to determine if the issue is unique to my setup.
-
Just curious, does anybody else use the radio station feature? I've had Gameex for years, and never messed with it. I just assumed that somebody would know how to clear the queue, but maybe it isn't widely used.
-
To clarify, how do I clear the radio station queue? Also, I know how to clear the Jukebox queue, but I was wondering if there was a key combination to do so without going back to the jukebox.

It works fine outside of Gameex. Strangely, if I play the game in windows XP (outside of Gameex), the screen is fine after, and other games that I play after play fine, but if I launch Gameex, I get the weird lines and flicker. Whether I launch Typhoon 2001 from Gameex, or before Gameex, it does the same thing. This never happened before with previous versions of Gameex, and my drivers and codecs are all up to date and unchanged from the last version of Gameex that it worked without this issue. I was playing around with the radio station feature, and was able to start playing the station, and then when I wanted to stop, I could press a button on my cp, and then stop the song. However, I couldn't figure out how to exit the radio station so that the station would not resume again. I couldn't really find any documentation on what the radio station controls are. Also, when playing an mp3 from the jukebox feature, is there a key combination to clear the queue and stop playing music, resuming arcade ambiance?

When I go to "more games and programs" and play some of my windows games that I have set up, after playing a game, when I return to Gameex, the screen starts flashing with strange bands running up and down the screen until I exit Gameex. In particular, this always happens now with the game Typhoon 2001. This never happened before with that game in previous versions of Gameex. Most of the games like Hamsterball still work great and don't do this. I could always disable that game, but it would be nice to have it working again. I don't think this has anything to do with my setup, and Is probably a bug in the front end.

Ambiance and videos are now working. Thanks!

The new update fixed the crashes! Steam is working as it should, and Favorites is no longer stuttering or crashing. I did notice some weird behavior in the multimedia section. When I choose and watch a video, afterwards all of my mame video snaps no longer show (they do for other emulators). Also, when I go to the Jukebox, and load my albums, when I back out (with no music playing), arcade ambiance stops playing completely. When I exit Gameex and restart it everything goes back to normal though.

Ok, I'll update and post the results.

It was only a .1 update. I haven't changed mame or any of my other emulators. Everything was working well with no crashes until this update. It's weird because, for example, when I go to my favorites the screen flashes black and then stutters before loading. I'll play a couple games in mame, and the crash occurs while I am in the game list, not while playing. In addition, Gameex completely crashes as soon as I select Steam. I only have Geometry Wars, and it has worked flawlessly in earlier versions. None of my emulators are crashing independent of Gameex. I must have played on my machine for hours last weekend and the machine didn't crash once. After I updated yesterday morning, it has been crashing nonstop. It's like Gameex is having trouble refreshing the display or something. Thanks for the reply, I really love this frontend, and hope to have it restored soon! I can't imagine using anything else.

I'm frustrated too since mine is crashing now constantly after the update, but don't get discouraged. I've been using Gameex for years now and it is still the best front end around, with constant updates, and really nice features. I always recommend it to anyone who is starting a project. Hopefully Tom will weigh in soon and maybe help us both out. In the meantime, the moderators have been trying hard to help me.

I uninstalled Shark's and installed the k-lite, but it's still crashing in the same spots.
-
I changed the resolution, and it still crashed in the same places. I use that resolution because I have a weird 1080i CRT TV hooked up to the computer with component cables. 1184x676 is actually the native resolution.
-
I deleted the cache files, but it is still crashing whenever I choose Steam, or after I play a few games in mame. I tested all of my emulators and Steam outside of GameEx and they are all working fine.
-
It behaves the same with the default theme and various other ones. The thing is, I've had it running with the same theme/settings for years with no trouble. Now with the new update it crashes constantly.
-
Also, I updated my codecs just to be sure. I also noticed that my steam games don't show up anymore after the update. In addition, when I first go to Favorites, the screen flashes black and stutters. Then, it appears to work fine, but it won't sort by category or manufacturer. Eventually, going back and forth between menus will cause the crash. This is very frustrating! I was looking forward to relaxing with some arcade games this weekend...

After I play a few games in Mame, GameEx suddenly crashes. It was working fine before the update today. I tried the following: 1. Updated DirectX 2. Updated Videocard Drivers 3. Manually installed the update Still randomly crashing since the update. Please help! Attached is the log file and my config file log.txt GameEx.ini

Feature & Enhancement Requests
deadpool18 replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
I have a simple request. I like watching some of the old video game commercials that I downloaded through emumovies, but they look so pixelated when fullscreen. It would be cool to have an option to use a smaller video window with a cool background like a retro tv that could play all of the videos looped, but small enough that they don't look so bad. -
Game Ex just did an auto update and now it crashes with an error that the Model 2 directory can't be found. I don't even have the model 2 emulator installed! I've never had this problem before, but now that it updated I do! I created a Model 2 folder in c:\emulators and now it says that model 2 executable file can't be found. Please help!
