  1. Well all I can say is I utterly confused as to why this isn't working. Come to think of it, I remember updating once before when I had the problem of it updating to my C Drive install of GameEx. And that was using the new router (a friend who was present reminded me that it worked once before on the new router - week or so ago). I'm having off and on problems with even this site (time outs) wondering if all these problems are just my ISP or internet traffic issues. Before I change anything I'll wait a day or two and see if the problem clears up. If so I'll post here that it did, otherwise I'll stick with the manual updates. Yes - Latest FIRMWARE revision for router 1.10 EDITED: I updated using the SETUP.EXE - worked fine. I noticed something that has confirmed it is on my router the problem resides...If I select the GameEx website option or Weather from within GameEx, I get a website unavailable page...so for some unknown reason the router is blocking http port accesses from within GameEx...guess I'll have to dig deeper into the router's config. Thanks again tom. Chris
  2. Cool thanks...will do that for now. I do plan I figuring out this little problem tho, that's why I registered so I could get the automatic updating. For your Info, and anyone else out there: Router is a DIR655, Xtreme N Wireless Router from Dlink. If anyone has this thing working correctly please let me know so I can discuss the settings I must be missing. Oh and one other thing...since the first failure to update in GameEx, it no longer prompts me to update, is there a way to force it to prompt me again? (ever since the Internet Connection Failed, during update attempt) Thanks again everyone. Chris Toronto, ON, Canada
  3. I'm getting the feeling that this is all related to a bad connection to the server - I've heard heavy lag can cause the Blocked ICMP packet I mentioned above. If I do a tracert to the 63.149.98.218 (again assuming that is the address used): Tracing route to 63.149.98.218 over a maximum of 30 hops 1 7 ms 11 ms 6 ms 10.146.0.1 2 * * 5 ms vl-201.gw03.ym.phub.net.cable.rogers.com [66.185 .90.17] 3 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms te-6-1-0.gw01.ym.phub.net.cable.rogers.com [24.1 53.5.21] 4 6 ms 7 ms 6 ms so-1-2-0.gw02.ym.phub.net.cable.rogers.com [24.1 53.5.242] 5 8 ms 8 ms 6 ms so-2-0-0.gw02.bloor.phub.net.cable.rogers.com [6 6.185.80.165] 6 16 ms 15 ms 16 ms gw01.esna.phub.net.cable.rogers.com [66.185.80.1 97] 7 17 ms 18 ms 17 ms POS2-1.ar2.CHI2.gblx.net [208.50.86.133] 8 33 ms 34 ms 33 ms telefonica-2.ar2.DCA3.gblx.net [64.208.110.62] 9 34 ms 35 ms 33 ms cer-core-02.inet.qwest.net [205.171.139.117] 10 59 ms 51 ms 51 ms dvr-core-01.inet.qwest.net [67.14.24.21] 11 53 ms 53 ms 53 ms dvr-edge-05.inet.qwest.net [205.171.10.90] 12 89 ms 93 ms 112 ms 65.112.192.162 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 * * * Request timed out. 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 * * * Request timed out. ... It appears to never get there. I have made sure that port 80 is inbound and outbound allowed for this machine. Well...hopefully someone can tell me if the SETUP.EXE to the directory doesn't modify the config files - if so I'll just update manually each time using the setup.exe instead of the internet connection. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Any other ideas is greatly appreciated.
  4. Doing a FRESH install using the 9.08 setup on your site to a new drive - I select the following options: Install Karaoke for Direct X Download default themes Download Manual/Ebook viewer and it times out after the status message: Connecting to 63.149.98.218... After about 1 minute to 1.5 minutes it gives a Error Sending Request, Operation Timed Out. I check my router's log: Mon Dec 31 15:50:03 2007 Blocked outgoing ICMP packet (ICMP type 3) from 192.168.0.103 to 68.59.170.241 Mon Dec 31 15:52:04 2007 Above message repeated 5 times That is the only packets getting blocked, and that is not something I've intentionally blocked. It has do be something different in the firmware on the Wireless N router...I've duplicated my settings from my Wireless G router that I retired. Both are Dlink routers, and I've matched all settings. Updates and installs worked on the older router. If I unselect all the options during the install - it installs correctly. If I install using the 9.08 setup off your site directly to the GameEx directory and uncheck all the download options will my configuration settings remain intact? If so - I may opt for doing that. Otherwise I'm stuck - There is no settings I can do to be unrestricted anymore then the router currently is, other than setting it to DMZ and I'm not going to do that. It's a shame, was almost finished configuring and customizing it. And I had to go out and ruin everything by upgrading my router - lol.
  5. I've been having several issues the past week trying (hopelessly) to install/upgrade my 9.01 install. (the following paragraph is meant to confuse you, you are now inside my screwed up head) Initially I installed to C:\GameEx, then later decided to place the install on an external drive F:\GameEx. I unfortunately just copied the directory over to the F:\GameEx directory. and didn't realize that the install location is remembered by install shield or GameEx. The Next time I ran GameEx (after the update was out) I got a prompt for doing an update, I said yes and it proceeded to update my C:\GameEx directory instead of the external drive. I decided (not knowing if the setup overwrites config data) to rename my F:\GameEx to F:\GE and reinstalled GameEx to F:\GameEx, then deleted the newly installed directory renaming F:\GE back to F:\GameEx. (lol I'm sure I've confused everyone by now) This actually worked but I'm having issues with the Installs and updates since the last update: Appears as though the Setup Program talks to IP Address: 68.59.170.241 for some reason and my Newly installed Gigabit N wireless router is constantly blocking it. Other addresses which keep popping up are 12.120.1.234 and 235 but only when doing an install and downloading Karaoke, Default Themes or E-book reader. If I select any of the download options during the install the setup fails: Error Sending Request, operation timed out. This happens after connecting to 63.149.98.218 If I simply try the update (after being prompted in GameEx) it simply fails: Internet Connection Failed after 20-30 seconds, and restarts GameEx. Now seeing as this is a new router, I suspect that this is restricting traffic needed by GameEx, my question is what ports/addresses does it need access to? I'd like to get this up and running again as it's been down for about a week. Any suggestions by anyone would be greatly appreciated.
