  1. I have a p4 3ghz pc as well. I tend to update my roms every u release since it's easier to get a handfull of updated roms rather than waiting several versions and then needing a 'ton' of updated roms. I tend to want the latest and greatest version of MAME for two main reasons. 1) Enhancements 2) Accuracy Improvments I know the later builds tend to be slower for some games (if not all to a point), but like Headkaze, I plan on getting a top of the line PC to play some of them higher-end games one day.
  2. If you are just trying to patch the 125 source, the only patch you need is hi_125.diff. The other patches are for u builds...and even if you use a mame u build, you only need one hi diff patch. Here's two examples: 1) If you are just trying to compile the MAME 125 source, you would only patch with hi_125.diff. 2) If you were going to compile MAME 125u2, you would need to patch 0125u1.diff, then 0125u2.diff and finally hi_125u2.diff. Notice only ONE hiscore patch is needed for u builds, but you need all the u builds obtained from mamedev.org. As a general rule, you should probably stay away from u builds since they aren't necessarily stable (especially for your cab). Hope this clears things up!
  3. Just FYI...the LCD lightguns appear fix on my end with MAME 122 released last night...
  4. They got broke in 120u4. So, don't expect them to work in 121 until they get the input sorted out. It's bug id lcdlightgun0121u3gra over at mametesters.
  5. Hey, hey! Actually, I released a new diff only when a new version changed significantly to where the current diff would no longer work. Basically, from version (including the u releases) 107u2 to the most present version (119u2 at the time of this post) there is a diff that can be used. On a side note, I posted a new diff 119u2 over at BYOAC that added the white box/decoding/etc removal. So, to sum up, the diff from now on (starting with the diff 119u2...which by the way can probably be used for every MAME version from 117u3 to present) will do the following (pardon the copy/paste ;-) ) 1) Adds hiscore support back into MAME 2) Removes all nag screens 3) Removes loading messages (decoding/decrypting/Updating Artwork, etc.) and the 'white box' when loading. (This was added to the diffs starting with hi_119u2) 4) Disables crosshairs by default. You can turn them back on in the game with F1 5) Tab button(menu) also pauses MAME and 1 acts as 'Enter'. Remove the inptport.c section if you do not want this(or just remove it from the ingame menu)
  6. Glad you liked the patch too... ;-)
