Hi Guys, just thought I would let you know that GameEx is up and running sweetly now I must say thanks to all those who contributed especially tthurman who's patience and dedication got me to the finish line have been busy playing the classics. I'm not sure why it didn't work but I did an update and went from scratch regarding the update list, I knew it wasn't the GameEx software as it worked perfectly before I must have gone wrong in the early stages which had a knock on effect. As you say get it working outside GameEx first then it will fall into place. Many Thanks Again!
-
Finally I got it working outside of gameex by copying one of the roms to the roms folder on my C: drive where mame is located but it but the bulk of my roms as you know are on my main USB so how do I get mame or gameex to see this? Many Thanks P
-
I cant get it working it just says no machines found when i try to run a game outside gameex im not out to frustrate anyone but it is a riddle that i cant solve the pc is fast and up to date as is the software the paths seem to be correct i have deleted everything and gone from the start there is no reason for it not to work
-
http://www.mame.net/?p=407 If you click it will bring you to mame 0.164 b you wont have a choice even though it clearly says 0.163
-
if you go to the mame website and look for 0.163 it sends you to 0.164B i had no choice when i run it out of gameex i take a mame rom in zip format and drag and drop it into the mame exe and it says the machine could not be loaded something about a mame.ini look im not an expert so i dont know what that means
-
So where I am now is deleted all to do with mame. downloaded 0.163 roms. externally. Downloaded From mame website Mame 064( 64 bit version. put it on my C: drive Its what showed up when i clicked in the 0.163 link. So EVERYTHING is fresh Ran GameEx did paths which Unzipped MAME did update of gameslist at 25% for the last 3 and a half hrs so its not working.

I have done as asked and got rid of the emulator in the setting up mame section no joy still the same. Black screen tries to load the game notice that say building machine and a % then nothing kicked back to gameex. I don't want to cut the japan games if I could get any of them to work japanese or not id be a happy man. anything else I could try? Thanks P

thanks very much for the response sorry if I sounded whiny I just put a lot of hours into this project since I bought the arcade machine and converted it to suit my needs thought I was on the finishing straight only to be knocked back. I'm not playing the blame game but as you can understand its frustrating. I will be keeping with Gameex not running MAME separately. I was only checking to see if Gammex was causing the issue which it clearly is not if they wont run outside of it. I did replace the mame with 0.163 in the external usb folder maybe it should be installed on the C: drive could that be an issue? Either way I will send a log and hopefully you can make sense of it, thanks for the support so far have built this arcade twice before hard drive died twice! on the home straight finally and hopefully I can get this resolved with your help.

Hi all thought Id let you know what was up i did try your idea using headkaze software but found it a bit tricky so went for the other solution of updating my roms and mame so I updated using 0.163 and downloaded 0.163 mame. guess what same thing loads up to loading machine and then dumps me back to the main menu. i dumped one of the games into mame without gameex same thing. where am i going wrong please help as you have been great so far, also I lost all my artwork avi snaps etc when i updated so Im sick but any ideas would be great Many Thanks P

The romset I got on DVDs years ago and I just dumped them on a seperate usb drive but its a full 0.119 version I did try to dump in the 0.119 mame and its ini but Gamex went Loco so I went back to what was there and updated again so I'm presuming the mame thats in gameex is up to date and I'm running older version roms which arent compatible but im not sure what my next step is Ill send an updated log and I think its important to say thanks for the help so far. Heres the updated log I get to loading machine then booted back to main menu 21:27:28.5 21/07/2015: Opening Configuration File21:27:28.5 21/07/2015: GameEx Background Mode: Version 14.31: Starting Log21:27:28.7 21/07/2015: Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-bit21:27:28.7 21/07/2015: Aero running21:27:28.7 21/07/2015: Initializing Vista/Windows 7 volume control21:27:28.7 21/07/2015: Getting CPU and RAM info21:27:28.7 21/07/2015: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 5375MB21:27:28.7 21/07/2015: 2.4Ghz - 4 Cores or CPU's21:27:28.7 21/07/2015: Running Randomize()21:27:28.8 21/07/2015: Loading PlugIns21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Setting default net connection limit to 1521:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Running Misc startup tasks21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Setting Menu types21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Getting Configuration Values21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Using Theme: Default - Media Center21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - Media Center21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Using Images from theme: Default - Media Center V1\MEDIA\21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Is Media Center running?21:27:28.9 21/07/2015: Checking/Creating LCD Registry values21:27:29.0 21/07/2015: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode21:27:29.0 21/07/2015: Media Center Mode 221:27:29.0 21/07/2015: Video previews on. sure will do it now No im running the latest mame I downloaded it from setup but then I tried the 0.119 mame exe but things got unstable so I reverted back to the latest version
-
Thanks Guys For the quick response yeah I did my update and it finds roms all of them just none work. I deleted the mame I downloaded with Gameex and replaced it with mame 0.119 thinking this would solve the problem but gameex was behaving erattically so I went back to what was there did the update so I am back to square 1. The paths seem ok as its finding the games any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Should I post the Gameex .ini ? sorry its been a while

Hi All, I was just wondering if someone could help me with an issue I have been having I had built my arcade and bought gameex well premium edition, and all was well until my hard drive died and so did my arcade until recently when I had some time and decided to try again so I sorted a computer and was putting gameex on and put my roms on which are 0.119 but they arent working it tries to run them but I end up back at the main screen Is there any way to solve this? Thanks Hadoken

Hello All, So heres the deal i built my cab had it sorted, everything running perfectly thanks to a lot of helpers in this forum i might add, however the mother board died so i transfered all the my bits and pieces x arcade etc to a new pc and loaded up my new pc with gameex paid version which came up perfect as did my music roms etc all sound until i tried to play a mame game the xarcade on player 1 doesent do left right up or down. all other buttons work and i tested the xarcade using their tester which worked fine. so all i have to do is press tab to bring up the menu ingame to tell mame which buttons im using trouble is when i go in here an try to change the buttons it says none for left right up and down and the trouble is the keyboard wont let me go up or down in the menu and neither will the sticks please help cant figure it out thanks

hi im having the same trouble except with mine it goes through them until it gets to t then stops with a gameex log error its such a kick in the stones as ive done it three or four times already and just get the same error ps if you go to the emumovies site try just clicking the pictureyou can always get them on dvd aswell if you dont have the bandwidth however i think they just go from hash to o on the 119 set as in not all the way to z

it could be your ati card i have a 9200 radeon that i had driver problems with. 3 beeps and then black screen the pc was on and working just nothing visable but when i turned it off and let it cool down it was if the problem never occured and would run pefectly for hours i noticed the problem in device manager went to the ati site and got new drivers and no problems since im not saying it is your graphics card and i dont want to throw another solution at you but its worth checking

Sorry for the delay in the post and a massive thanks to all the people who helped me define exactly what the problem was as explained by brian hoffman (a true legend) it was a dodgy download and so now all is rose tinted and smells like summer again special thanks to all especially Brian Hoffman (a true legend)

I was thinking this may be the problem as i downloaded gamex several months ago and only got the roms a few days ago (the roms as you probly saw are 1.19) then i got the registered version of gameex about a month ago. i know the roms have to match with the version of mame your using but am unsure how to check how do i update gameex version of mame or do all roms run from mame32?
-
not a bad idea that i havent tried it yet but i will give it a go as thats the way i used to do it before gameex just dump the roms straight in then i switched to mame classic but gameex is so sexy. thanks for the advice

Thanks for the reply i know i was frustrated last night but when you have all manner of electronic items beeping at you and not doing as there told in the cold on your own at 3am dumping roms that wont work you begin to think why bother ? today is another day however and with the unmatched support of my band of american brothers we will solve this (well maybe not today maybe not tomorrow but soon and for the rest of are lives)
