  1. So far it's just MAME that causes the program to go to a black screen. MAME is the only thing I use GameEx for though. Everything works great untill I hit Esc to exit whatever game I'm playing. Doesn't happen all the time but enough to make it a problem. I'm using MAME32 v. 118 for 99% of the games. MAME v. 106 for the others (Killer Instinct 1 and 2, and TMNT 2). For some reason GameEx doesn't see Strikers 1945iii or TMNT 2 without me setting up a seperate bat file for them, even if they work fine in MAME32. That is another issue I have. I have a complete MAME v. 118 rom set (6000+ games) but under GameEx it only shows around 3000+ games. I did eliminate Majong games but there aren't 3000 of them. Anyway, thats not really a problem thanks to the fact that I can set up a different emulator for my favorites with bat files in seperate directories. The black screen is a problem though. Any ideas?
  2. Hey, is anyone else having this problem. Every so often when I exit a game and expect to go back to the GameEx menu all I get is a black screen with a mouse pointer in the center. The only way I have found to get out of this is to Ctrl+Alt+Del my way out and close the program. Does anyone know how to fix this? The other problem I'm having is getting games like Miss Pacman to save my high scores. I know this is more a "MAME" question but games like "Strikers 1945iii" saves my high scores with no problems but games like Miss Pacman don't. Any ideas?

    Speed up.

Hey thanks man, I got it to work. It took a little editing of the .bat files but I got it! For some reason when I loaded the .bat files you provided it came back with an "Unknown option error" or something like that. So I deleted the options in the .bat files and everything worked great (I also deleted the line that was pointed to I guess some AC DC music, great band but I don't have that directory so.....). I'm this close to having GameEX working perfectly. I fixed that Juke box problem as well. I just uninstalled it and than reinstalled it and it works perfectly now. Once I reinstalled it the theme changed to a plain light blue kinda background(which I like much more) and the juke box worked. Just a few more things to iron out and than it'll be donation time. I plan on giving $50 rather than $25 because this is BY FAR the best front end I have ever used. Well I'm off to test some stuff, thanks for all the help, this forum beats the hell outa the MAME\MAMEWorld forums (some of those people are dicks). You people are amazing, have a great night\day. Speed up.

Hey thanks you guys for the help. I tried Mame v.106 and it runs great, no problems at all. You guys are beautiful. I will most likely look into overclocking anyway, I had no idea I would be able to safely get that kind of an increase. One more thing if it's not to much trouble, like I said I'm now using v.106 for the KI's so I now have two versions of Mame that I want to work in GameEX. You mentioned making a .bat file to do this. I know what a BAT file is but thats about it. What should I do to get this up and running? How do I make the .bat file and what should I put in it? Thanks again. later

    Speed up.

Hey, first of all, thanks for everyone who has helped me so far. This question is more MAME related than GameEX related so if this isn't the right place for a question like this than sorry in advance. Anyway, for games like Killer Instinct 2 what is the best way to speed this thing up. Ive been using U64Emu for years and it's ran at 100% like 3 computers ago. In Mame it's much slower and the audio can't keep up and sounds horrible. Ive messed with a bunch of display settings but cant speed it up(No filters helped a little). The "3D" stages are perfect (TJ Combo..ect). I just got a new comp. and it's not a super computer but I'm a little shocked it can't play this at full speed. The specs are: Intel Core 2 Due @ 2ghz 2 gig ram Nvidia 8500GT 512 300 gig HD Is my computer just to underpowered to play this game in Mame? (I guess I can believe this since games like MK3 require at least a 3ghz P4 to run full speed) Should I try to overclock the CPUs? If so, how much would be safe? (I know nothing about this) I once heard someone on the Mame boards say thats it's a sin not to overclock a Core 2 Duo. would more ram help at all? Should I go up to 4 gig? If a CPU upgrade is my only option than I will most likely just stick with U64EMU. Even games like SF3 run full speed, this is the only game I can't get to run at 100% (not including 3D games of course). Thanks for any help and once again if this is the wrong place for this I apologize. Thanks
  6. One other thing. YOu where talking about rebuilding roms in CtrlMAME. Does that mean I can take all of my MAME v.81 Roms and "convert" them so that they would work in newer versions of MAME? I'm not sure if thats what you meant by that.
  7. Hey thanks for the quick resp. To answer the first guys question, I only have 3 roms for NRX. They are Kof01, Kof02, and Metal Slug 4. I use NRX because they don't work in my version of MAME(.81). I use that version and havent upgraded simply because eveytime I try to upgrade I lose like 700 games due to them not working on that version. I just tried to newest version of MAME and after a refresh it said I had something like 400-500 games. Thats a lot of lost games. Also has anyone tried U64EMU or the CPS3 emulator and had those work? Thats weird about NRX because in one of the set up options it actually lists that EMU in a drop down box. I know updating MAME would solve a lot of headaches for me but than I would have to find all those games again and Ive been out of the scene for a while and really wouldn't know where to start(I don't expect anyone here to tell me, I know thats against the rules). If it comes down to it I will just have to use the other Emus seperately which wouldn't be the end of the world but man I love this front end. Anyway thanks again.
  8. Hey everyone, new to posting here. First I just want to say that this is by far the best FE I have ever used. I'm kinda shocked this thing is free(once I get some issues fixed I will be more than happy to donate, I want this thing to continue) . Anyway, I have a few issues. First, the jukebox. I can't seem to get this thing to play any playlists on startup other than "All music". I have made a playlist that does show up in the jukebox and I can select it but it never uses it as the default. Also, No matter what I seem to do in the setup it will ony play WMP music. If I set up a seperate Folder and put say...10 songs in it and than switch it to look for "ID Tags" and than point it at that folder it will just ignore that and play all songs from WMP. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? My next issue is that I can't get Neo Rage X to work. I have it set up and if I go to Emulated Games/Neo Rage X it does display the games I have but if I try to play them the screen just goes black and than goes right back to GameEX. Any advice on that would be great. Thanks in advance. I'm runnung Vista by the way
