  1. As usual, I am too quick at posting, I should learn to first do and then post The matter is already resolved. Well I suppose that if someone else wants to try do the same thing, at least now it's me who can provide some support.
  2. It took me a fairly long time a couple of years ago to finally be able to launch Daphne games properly in GameEx, and now I dread to touch my settings in fear of undoing what is currently working... :/ But on the other hand, I have this Dragon's Lair and Space Ace HD versions on DVD, and on the web someone directed me towards a small software called "dlhd2daph" that is supposed to convert at least the Dragon's Lair HD (probably not the Space Ace HD though) into a video file usable in Daphne. And since the default games in Daphne are very low-definition, switching to HD would be a huge improvement. Does anyone have any experience with this?

    MAC emulation

Same here to be honest... by I want to make an exception for the old MAC of the 80s

    MAC emulation

...no love for the old MAC?
  5. I don't want to switch to another frontend
  6. What do you use when you launch from GameEx an emulator that displays a screen smaller than your monitor? There are so many retro systems with aspect ratio narrower than 16:9 which is the most common for modern monitors. Do you just leave the desktop visible in the background? Do you stretch the emulator aspect ratio to match with that of your monitor? Or have you settled for a better alternative?

    MAC emulation

@snarls You started the original thread on Mini vMAC, have you been able to make it work and start games directly from GameEx?
  8. We have a Logitech L710: https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/product/f710-wireless-gamepad It works wonderfully and is detected without problems by all my emulators (except those few which don't support joysticks at all), didn't need any manual step to install, and after almost 2 years the battery is still going (although we aren't heavy gamers). I especially like the fact that the 2 analog sticks are aligned, because this is much better for all 2-joysticks MAME games. I also have an Afterglow wireless gamepad which I bought as a second controller, it was about half the price compared to the L710. It actually works just as well except for the fact that for some reason I always have to unplug+replug the USB transmitter before Windows 7 can detect it :/

    MAC emulation

I am interested in adding the MAC to my list of emulated systems. Does anyone have any suggestion for which emulators work best with GameEx? Note that I am primarily interested in emulating very old software from the 80s, so I don't need to emulate any recent MAC OS really. But naturally, it has to be a command-line based emulator. I could only find a 5-year old thread on the Mini vMAC emulator but with no replies. Thanks!
  10. Well for my kind of emulation activities it works perfectly, but with that I mean I am usually not interested in anything that's newer than 20 years old The PS2 emulation was just a test on a day off...
  11. I have a GeForce GTX 550 Ti, but I don't think my problem is a low-end graphic card but rather a slow processor: AMD II 2.7GHz 4Gb RAM.
  12. This is another problem I've had for ages, and never figured out how to fix... MAME games work fine when I launch them from GameEx in window mode, but the screen is all black when I start them from GameEx in fullscreen. I tried with and without either "-window" or "-bezel" in the MAME command line, and I tried with and without the "Don't use bezels" option, but it's always the same. It doesn't matter if the game is vertical or horizontal. Does this problem ring a bell to anyone? (attached are my latest log.txt and GameEx.ini files).
  13. Well, it did work at the end, although with some trouble in the middle... to be more clear, I created the custom map file with only "Disk 1" of those games, and removed previous list of files to ignore in Wizard, and the menu in GameEx became nice again without any duplicates. Then I proceeded to delete some games directly from the GameEx menu, and here the problem appeared again (so once again duplicate titles, as soon as I started to delete some games with the delete key), but fortunately now with the custom map in place, all those duplicate disappear after re-starting GameEx. Previously instead the duplicates remained even after restarting! I also immediately noticed that if I started to delete games from the bottom of the list (instead of from the top) and then proceed upwards, duplicates would not appear, but as soon as I deleted a second game in the downward direction, a duplicate appeared! I don't know if this makes any sense But as I said at least now these duplicates disappear when I restart GameEx, so everything is fine. Thanks a lot!! Next week after the party, I'll definitely update GameEx to the latest version
  14. Sorry for my slowness... I'll try RedDog's method first. log.txt GameEx.ini And it looks like I am getting older faster that I thought... I am still running version 14.03
  15. Thank you very much, I will try this out! Does it require the latest version of GameEx? My version is about a year old, but I would like to avoid upgrading right now in case it screws up something else (I have an 80s party next Saturday and I don't want to be without retrogames! )
  16. Thanks! The MAP file looks right to me, but who knows... here is the latest one, just regenerated by GameEx last time I started it. EMU_12.map
  17. The other stay. But after a few additional deletions, now all is fucked up... :/ It looks like when I delete the "wrong" duplicate, the game is deleted from the list but the NAME of it stays, it is only passed to yet another game. So I end up with having still 2 times the title, with the duplicate one now pointing to just another game, which has then lost its own correct title.
  18. This is a problem that keeps coming back... Basically in a games list, all of a sudden ALL games which use a SINGLE file appear TWICE in the game list (one after the other). However, while the first occurrence of the game launches the right game, the second occurrence launches a DIFFERENT game (which is then of course NOT shown on its own). So it looks like the name of these single-disk games is taking over another games' name in the list. See attached images, if my description of the issue is unclear. I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it, but today it seemed to appear just after I DELETED a game from this list. Is this a known bug? What should I do to fix this problem now? I can't remember how I did before, but removing MAP files or DBCACHEINI files does nothing.
  19. Mmm... that's MAME only, right?
  20. Sounds good! Would GameEx still show the video snaps of deleted games on a system's main menu?
  21. But isn't it so that the favourites list is then a single list for ALL systems? I want to keep the separate lists by different console or home computers.
  22. Hello, next weekend we're having an 80s-themed party, and I am going to fire up GameEx for the guests to enjoy some retrogames Because of the party theme I would like to hide all games that are from the 90s. What is the quickest way to pick & hide some games from configuration wizard? I want this to be temporarily only, of course, so I am not going to actually delete those games, just making them not show up in GameEx games lists. It would be nice if there's a way to do so that doesn't require me to (re)move all their files, since each game has plenty of assets (cover, snap, manual...) in different locations. Thanks!
  23. First thing for you to know, is that besides the DOSBox I am also using the DBGL (DOSBox Game Launcher) to start the games. I remember that before using the DBGL I was having problems setting up the games to start in GameEx. But with the DBGL, setting up new games is trivially easy. It has a downside however, in the fact that I have to name the games' media assets (video snaps, covers etc.) with numbers instead of the the names of the games, and then use a custom MAP file to show the correct names in GameEx. It's not a big deal for me, because given the small size of my retro collection I never use automatic download of media, but if you use that, then I guess it won't work for DOS games launched via DBGL. You can find the DBGL here: http://members.quicknet.nl/blankendaalr/dbgl/#download An extra boon for me was that the DBGL is open source and doesn't require installation
  24. Hi all again I am having some problem with the second controller, so I wonder if anyone has any tips. When I boot my Windows 7 PC, the Logitech controller always appears in the known devices list (in Control Panel) even if it's turned off. So all I need to do to start using it, is to just press the wake-up button on the controller itself, and it will connect automatically to my PC. Instead, the Afterglow controller doesn't appear in such list after booting the PC, and in fact it doesn't connect when turning it on. I can see from Device Manager that it is not shown there either. What I need to do each time, is to unplug its wireless transmitter from the USB port and plug it back. Then it is immediately detected, it appears in the known devices list (and in Device Manager under the USB devices), and afterwards it does connect automatically without problem when I wake it up. Drivers are installed and up-to-date for both controllers, but I don't remember if I did something additional when (long ago) I installed the first controller. I wonder if this could be a fault of this specific controller itself, or instead something more general that can be fixed by taking some additional steps in Windows, so that the controller would be detected among the known USB devices every time I reboot my PC. I guess this kind of problem can happen with any wireless device, not just controllers. Have you ever had a similar issue, and how did you fix it? Thanks!
