  1. Yeh that would definitely fit in this scenario. If the gameextender shut off at launch there'd be no trouble. The funny thing is the DMD from Pinmame actually sets on top of the gameextender screen. The end result is that it took me awhile to realize I was still looking at the gameextender screen and not the UVP screen, since the DMD was perfectly positioned (Of course it would be, i'm using the same backglass shots for Gameex and the UVP). What this means is that Gameex actually could let you phase out UVP software all together provided you didn't mind looking at a static backglass with no lighting features. This would make gamex attractive to people that have a 2 screen setup but don't wanna go through the hassles (lots of hassles) of setting up UVP and editing the script of EVERY table. You'd still have to position the digital scoring and whatnot, but the DMD machines..easy as pie. If I can figure out how to give the UVP screen priority over the gameextender screen, I'll post it. I'll have to ponder this a bit. That said and as I suspected, Gameex is a GREAT frontend for a setup like mine. Once I got past the backglass issue, it's been the choice frontend of everyone i've shown it too over the other one I have installed.
  2. You're the man, Tom! Your Gameextender gimmick did the trick! My backglasses show on the second monitor while I scroll thru the table...very fine. Future Pinball still works perfectly, but Visual Pinball with the UltraVPserver gets lost behind the gameextender image. I'm working on it. Nevertheless, thanks for the tip.
  3. Thanks for the feedback Tom. I suppose I should elaborate on the loading screen.. I'm only loading Visual Pinball and Future Pinball on this rig..when I choose a table, even with the desktop off I still see the editors load up. Is there a way to cover this load? I know these emulators are unique and provide a special challenge to mask. The 800x600 resolution question is from reading the faq on verts...might be old. I am using the most current version, and this has not really been an issue...I just saw this and wondered about it. I've not used Game Extender in this way before..to put up backglasses. Can someone direct me to an example of how to implement this..i've had a look around and haven't came across a method for how this works. Thanks alot Tom.
  4. Sup ya'll, I've been working on a cocktail Virtual Pinball machine, the two screen variety, and after a long setup with another frontend, I wanted to get my personal fav GameEx on there as well (Had to install the other one for an interested party..i'm a GameEx man). Anyway, this is my first experience with using GameEx on a two monitor setup vertically, and I have a few questions i've had trouble finding answers for. For starts, GameEx obviously supports 2 monitors...but is there a way to diplay a backglass image on the second monitor while i'm scrolling through the list of pins (Ie display art on monitor two). Secondly, why the 800x600 resolution limit on vert screens...is this there for a reason? Next, it seems that theres no load screen that pops up when I select the table I want, and in both Visual Pinball and Future Pinball I see the program load up on a blank desktop..I mean they work fine, but i'm used to a GameEx load screen hiding all this...is that not an option on a Vertical setup? Thanks for the input ya'll...is anyone out there running a virtual pinball machine with GameEx? I'd love to get some pointers. Aaron
  5. Great to hear ya'll are still foolin with this. I have, temporarily of course, rigged up MPC for my video needs, so i'm not hurtin exactly..haha. Thanks for the continued effort boys.
  6. Still crashing for me too Tom. However, I think we can put the playing video part of this crash to bed..it's almost certainly a 'changing resolutions' or 'going from window to window' type of thing. I get a crash when I alt tab from full screen as well.
  7. Yup, already set to that..i've tried it both ways. Heres the scoop..i've been foolin with this alot tonite. With the standard current gameex.exe file, I get a crash not only when starting and finishing video, but even when running html stuff....like the weather. Now, if I use the file that was sent here on this thread, I only crash AFTER exiting the video or html. Weird stuff for sure...i've updated my video drivers just to make sure..still happens.
  8. Not sure I understand what you want me to try. Can you point me to which option you want changed...I have Gameex already set to my standeard windows rez...that what you mean Tom?
  9. I think you're on to something Tom. I loaded up gamex and hit shift enter to goto windowed and BAM crash. When I restarted Gamex it defaulted to windowed, ran fine, and didn't crash when loaded, playing or stopping and returned to gamex...all went well. Looks to me the issue is going from full screen and back or something along those lines. I suppose running multimedia wasn't the cause, it just provided the circumstance to make it fail. I included my fail log here. 10. Confirmed and the same here, Tom. The new file cured my crash problem as the media player started a video. The video plays fine, but then crashed on exit.
  11. Ok, got it. In the advanced setup menu, when setting the in game key, you must use the keyboard codes from the vkcodes file for the key you want and NOT the key itself...ie i wanted INS for the menu so the key code is 45.I'm sure almost everyone else on earth knew this, not me! I getthe slow guy award but at least its fixed!

  13. I mentioned this in another thread but this one seems more appropriate. The "L" key always pops the ingame menu up, even when I assign another key in advanced settings...seems L is coded in...can anyone confirm this?
  14. Still have no work around for this problem. The "L" key always pops the ingame menu up, even when I assign another key in advanced settings...seems L is coded in...can anyone confirm this? This is a major prob for me...i'm out of keys here!
  15. Same here. Changing that in game menu key in Input settings does nothing Anyone figured out a work around?
  16. Dang. Well at least I don't have to feel bad about not being able to figure it out! Thanks for the quick response man, I hope you'll consider that a feature request. I love gameex, keep up the great work! aaron
  17. Hey folks, got a question. We're running our mame machine full time and streaming the screensaver over justin.tv...for no good reason but still it's fun to watch at work..heh. Anyway, I have a directory of mame videos, and i'd like to add some old commercials and other game videos in there, but I do NOT wanna dump ALL that stuff in one directory. Is it possible to have gameex read subdirectories in screensaver mode and/or multiple directories? I've searched all over the forum and haven't seen it mentioned, and I can't figure it out. FYI, yeh, I know i could run the emulators in screensaver mode, but we really prefer the videos for the sake of reliability and speed. Any info appreciated! Thanks ya'll aaron
  18. Yeh, I was afraid I'd hear that...that pretty much what I figured. Dang...I don't see a way around it at this point.
  19. Quick question on this fellas. I have a MAME machine with a TV svideo hookup as my MAME monitor. I want to run an lcd as a marquee to rig this up. Problem, Marquee Magician always tells me I need multiple monitors, not recognizing the TV as a monitor. Any way around this?
  20. I've been testing a Wiimote on my pc the past few days with Mame, and i'll be honest, i'm quite pleased. Once I got past figuring out PPJoy and Glovepie, it hasn't been a major hassle rigging it up. The Wiimote makes a pretty darn good light gun, and makes a great steering wheel! I've found it too be very accurate as a gun...however I will say that i'm still testing it out and can't reach a conclusion just yet. I've tried it with Police Trainer and Point Blank II with great success....but that is with cursor on. I haven't tried it out with no cursor, and that will be the key factor in it's acceptance for sure. I can say that I do recommend it for alot of driving games. Outrun works great with it, and after some tweaking i'm sure I'll have it cookin with more.
  21. Wow, tremendous find there sir. I looked all over and never saw that. I was in error in my last post...the 2 and 4 exited and 2 and 6 would also exit. Strange thing to hard code in really....those are two very oft used keys, and with people running a zillion keys on their control panels now, I bet that comes up alot. Still, easy to switch for me. Again, great find, and thanks for the help everyone.
  22. OK, final report. This is odd..I'll have to say. After full experimentation I determined that hitting the 2 key and 4 key would kick you out of any emulator to gameex. I also found out that hitting the 4 key and the 6 key also had the same effect. I looked through EVERYTHING that could possible have been entered by me, including the suggestions ya'll kindly made, and found nothing. I finally had to basically kick out the 4 key for another. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but still I find that pretty goofy overall. After the 4 key was removed from the equation, we're running like a champ. If anyone ever has a thought on this, lemmie know. Fixable..strange but fixable. Thanks ya'll. Aaron
  23. Check that...hitting 4 and 2 together kicks back to gameex on EVERY emulator i've tried....
  24. Ok, narrowed it down. Hitting 2 and 4 on any mame game exits me ut. Only in gameex. Weird eh..triplechecked...I can find it in anything i entered.
  25. I'd appreciate some tips here. Been a Game Ex user and subscriber for a good while now, and I LOVE the product. I do, however, have a problem I can't seem to figure out. When I'm using gameex and run certain mame games...fighting games are what this happens on almost always, occasionally the game will end emulation and kick back to the front end. This usually occurs when we're playing two players and six button games...ie sf2 or killer instinct, etc. We do not have any problem using outright mame with these games, and play the same games that kick us out with two players and zero problems. It's definitely related to key-presses and I'm at my wits end. We use a standard 4 player I PAC....is there a key combination i'm missing that will kick us out ? Any chance we're overloading the buffer somehow and causing this? Is there a way to make gameex absolutely not end the game unless a key is pressed? I'd appreciate some help fella's. thedevilbunny
