  1. No this is not a fresh install of GameEx - (I am hesitant to do so in case of losing some of my configs, but if you think it'll help, I will!). I am also a registered user - and concerned i might somehow detriment with a fresh install. the primary monitor is the same monitor with the gameex and mame32 execs on, and capable of far higher res & refresh rates than almost all mame games require (does this answer your question? Sorry if not!!). Thanks for your help Brian
  2. In a nut shell (bear in mind i have a 2 monitor setup!): if i run mame32 directly and start a game: it opens fullscreen on the same monitor, exactly as I'd hope. But if I run a mame game from gameex; it starts in my 2nd monitor, even though I'm not asking it to pass any other variables, or asking it to open on that monitor in any other way. Both apps are run from the same monitor - I can't understand what's going on. Does GameEx take a snapshot of the config and cache it somewhere? I figure maybe it's loading an old ini file which i need to delete... or maybe something else is going on which is forcing mame off and to another screen (a res or refresh issue maybe)? I appreciate there are many possibilities, but I welcome any feedback. Thanks in advance
  3. Fantastic work! This is really high on my desired functionality list: so a big personal 'thank you and well done' from me! I'll look forward to trying this after work: Does it still unpause mame when entering/exiting the ctrl panel? Either way: the default startup control display should alleviate the need for this. One more question: the what's new also mentions that emu exiting is speeded up if used with advanced cfg. Are users able to create these advanced cfgs for their preferred emus? There only seem to be a few by default. Anyway - again - great work!
  4. oh right... sorry!
  5. OK- behaviour is inconsistent on my machine: the first point may or may not help stigt out. I have noted two significant problems: 1. usually you have to hold down the L key for a time before the controls dialog appears. It may be stigt that you're not holding the key down long enough for the instructions to appaer? Ideally, I guess, there's be a little egg timer appear immediately after the L key is pressed, followed by its eventual appearance. I'm not complaing though - love GameEx!! 2. I suspect this'd be a bit harder to fix, but in mame if you press P to pause (which I personally find the optimum time to call up the instructions viewer) and THEN hit L, the game temporarily unpauses in the background during the transition to the instructions screen. It then re-pauses when the instructions appear, but unpauses again while returning to MAME. Once MAME is again fully 'in focus', the pause state again comes into effect. It may take a few re-reads of the above paragraph to get what I mean! Sorry! But it's a pain on my machine as one generally suffers 6+ seconds of unwanted 'unpausing' just by viewing the instructions. Again - I'm not complaining, just trying to help. Tom - is it worth putting these points in the issues thread? Any way stigt - good luck.
  6. Yes it may have been my post you read under 'vista issues'. I hadn't realised that Acrobat had to be installed... probably a spout of needing to RTFM and I apologise to Tom if so. I'll check this out when I get back from work and report back. Cheers
  7. great. Thank you both very much - will try this asap
  8. I've got MAME32 setup to save a state on exit, and then automatically load it again when the game is next run. Unfortunately: when I run MAME32 through GameEx; this functionality is lost. Do I need to pass any command line instructions via the GameEx setup wizard? Thanks for any help.
