Wow -- I am late to this tea party --- Tom - your app rules and the fee is minimal - you deserve compensation for your amazing work. Cheers!

Dude- you're not getting screwed. They are a small business, as indicated above - I bought a CO2 from them 2 years ago -- I live local and visited them in Nutley, NJ. Christian was very accomodating and gave me a quick tour of the facilities. Yes, they're small - but they're no garage. They had an actual workshop and a small office in the entrance where they had on of their full cab kits on display - it was a thing of beauty. The workshop had one gentleman hard at work on a CP and I saw a bunch of finished CP's (with varying arrays of customized artwork) -- and they were all incredible. They do ridiculously good work -- my CP is solid, amazing, and still works like brand new. That said, they are not good with their customer service. I know, I just did a 180 on my review. They've been very defensive on BYOAC message boards, to the point of insult. They have next gen panels with really awesome overlays; I emailed to see if they would make the overlays for old-school designs (ha - 2 years old is old-school!) and was ignored. Finally, I got a very short note after a bit more prodding saying "no." No big deal. No love lost. So -- Customer service? Meh. Product - Outstanding! You're going to love it man.

Happy New Year to you too buddy---and to you all!

Glad to help -- let us know how you like it

Hey there -- yeah, don't do the Griffin Powermate thing bro - you'll be disappointed with the results. Not designed for what you have in mind - too much drag. Check out www.retroblast.com -- there's a comment thread somewhere in the archives about it. Cool product, but not for retrogaming purposes. If fit is your issue - why not check out THIS amazing new product: Groovy Game Gear Small Imprint Spinner

Night, you rule man --- definitely Vectrex --- big fan of that console --- WELL DONE!

Fantastic. Thanks gents!

'Sup folks? Sooo...I was just cruising around RetroBlast looking at the aptly-described-by-Tom "emotive" comments on the GameEx review and ran across a mention of the ability to import MameWah Layouts to GameEx Theme Editor. I recall reading about this back in summer, but hadn't seen any new threads (though I may suck at properly utilizing the search engine here) -- can this be done now?? Thanks to all! James

Hey guys - Hi Tom - Q: Are the default "ArcadeVGA" Yes settings optimized for a vertical, or horizontal arcade monitor? Thx! James
-
Already did, Squire. Left the first comment -- hopefully you'll get a lot of contributors from this here You deserve it! James

Tom et al, Comment thread on Retroblast asked for recommended front ends. Everyone's still hooked on MameWah for some reason. I think, and I'll bet you all agree, that GameEx is by and far superior. I, of course, pointed this out on the highly-trafficked retrogaming site. Retroblast Article Tom - you are a genius. Emph - ditto. Everybody - great community - GameEx rules. Just wanted to keep spreading the good word, and hopefully the $$registrations$$ that you absolutely DESERVE. Cheers, James

Anybody have any trouble running Multi-Disk CC64 games in GameEx? Thanks!

Hi -- noticed Tom's absence on the board this past week (vacation?) -- just wanted to **BUMP** in hopes he sees this and may have a solution. Thanks for your patience everybody! James

Thanks for the article link Jontox! -- yeah, RetroKev rules..... Right. Essentially they're doing the same thing, but with Gav's tool you're able to assign each game a res that works/fits your screen/etc. - where as calling from GameEx its a roll of the dice (although 90% perfect - its just that the 10% includes games I'm addicted to.) Again, the only real issue for me is, for some reason when I turn AVGA mode off in Config -- the individual ini's I selected with Gav's tool (which played exactly the way I desired when calling to Mame OUTSIDE of GameEX) pop in at a different res when calling to Mame FROM GameEx. So if there's any explanation for how to get GameEx to call a game and have the res pop the same way it does when I call to it outside the front end -- well, that would rule. THANKS TOM! THANKS JONTOX! THANKS EVERYBODY!!!

Exactly Jontox -- just looking for a way to get mame to call to my ini files via GameEx -- resolutions somehow are a'changing when I do it from the front-end even with AVGA "No"....Tom, any suggestions would be awesome brother. Can't imagine Mame w/out GameEx bro!
-
Hi Tom -- just a follow up. Something bizarre when I was re-experimenting with "No" mode. I used Gav's tool to set up individual ini res files for all games. Calling on them directly from Mame - the resolutions looked perfect. I made sure config set AVGA to "No" in order to not use the AVGA config resolutions (sorry, I'm a freak and some resolutions with AVGA to "Yes" weren't working out for me, despite deleting some and experimenting with the config file) --- yet, despite having selected "No" -- the resolutions that worked so wonderfully calling right from Mame changed when i called these games via the front-end. Do I need to do something more than set AVGA settings to "No" to draw resolutions from the ini files created by MameRes tool? Again - the games look the way I want them to look calling directly from Mame - but something "changes" when calling Mame from GameEx. Can't wrap my head around that - wondering if you or someone with similar experiences can help me. Thanks a million! James

All understood - thank you sir!!!

Hi guys -- Tom, you rule. 'Nuff said. K - wanted to clarify a few things re: ArcadeVGA to "Yes" in display settings. I currently have Mame command options set for no stretching, etc. etc. and AVGA to "Yes". I noticed amongst my config files an "avga" text file that has a list of available modes -- am I assuming correctly that it is from this list of resolutions that Mame calls to when using AVGA display set to "Yes"? I'm running on the assumption that it is so, especially considering the fact that Mortal Kombat rolled for the longest time for me until I deleted its resolution option from said text file. Now it doesn't roll, but it displays a bit "squashed" on my horizontal monitor. So my first point is to seek confirmation that selecting "Yes" causes Mame to draw from the Avga text file of available resolutions under GameEx config. Next -- is there a way to override for certain games? I'd hate to have to set to "No" and then individually tweak all via a Mame Res tool. Finally - there was a time that I had it set to "No" and was indeed running using resolutions configured by Gavin Benson's Res tool. I gave up using those resolutions because what resolution displayed in Mame outside of GameEx was entirely different from what displayed IN GameEx. This ever happen to anybody else? Thanks all - and THANKS TOM!! James

Tomas -- you're a genius! Great release man!
-
Ha. Its all good man. You are a genius, and genius allows for indiscretions. Just keep kicking arse with GameEx brother.
-
Ok. No, you're not bursting my bubble and I never indicated what setup I was using; I was simply asking folks what combination was successful for them. Thanks for making me feel like an idiot. Love GameEx, always supported it, and I'm paid up as well. That said, you did partially answer my question, albeit in a dubious fashion. Thank you. Keep up the good work. Love the front-end.
-
Also - sorry to ask here, but I couldn't find the thread -- Tom, you mentioned once that your setup is on an arcade monitor w/640x480 res, no? How has that worked out for you? Do you get much flicker? Thanks so much!
-
Thanks for the info guys! I'm running Avga on a horizontal arcade monitor as well, and was curious as to your Windows desktop resolution (interlaced or non?) and your options for GameEx in full. I'm having a heck of a time keeping vertical games from bleeding off the top and bottom; horizontals look great. Would love to see a paste of your ini -- many thanks!! James

MAME 1.07 - Any cool games now working with new vid?
bboysnj replied to Marker0077's topic in General
Thanks for all the great responses - and Tom, thank YOU for this awesome front-end. I am a PROUD registered user bro. At this point in time there is a Mame32 out for v.107 --- has anyone out there used 32 for their arcade cab and could you recommend settings for AVGA? I'd really appreciate it. I see suggestions above for command line, and wonder what their GUI counterparts are in M32. THANKS TO EVERYBODY!! --James -
MAME 1.07 - Any cool games now working with new vid?
bboysnj replied to Marker0077's topic in General
Hi guys -- I'm right there with Marker --- I'm running on an arcade monitor via Andy's AVGA, and I'd love some feedback on performance, both with Mame and GameEx. I did update and test on my PC, and frankly the blurred image I was experiencing with D3d was putting me off - wouldn't even know what setting to use for my arcade machine. Therefore, I'm deferring to this awesome crew to fill a brother in. Thanks all!
