  1. That's awesome. Can't wait to see this on a real DMD!
  2. Does this fix the broken DMD issue?
  3. The most comprehensive instructions (with example scripts) for setting up FX2 are in Zeenon's excellent draft document located here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/13735-calling-all-pinballx-gurus-and-smes-documentation-challenge/ Folks should be aware that simply taking an existing AHK will not likely work, as the order that tables show up in FX2 will vary with the tables that have been purchased and the order they were purchased in.
  4. Another tip: Make sure Steam is NOT running when you start PinballX. (That means configure Steam so that it doesn't run on boot.) Otherwise you'll get the "Loading" screen then get dumped right back into PinballX. When you get all the pieces in place, FX2 works VERY well with PinballX.
  5. The only B2S table I'm still using is Fireball, and I don't recall having any problems entering or exiting with PinballX. Hyperpin could never handle that table exiting. I've switched everything else to dB2S, and that's always been flawless with Hyperpin or PinballX, either one.
  6. I wondered if something like that was affecting my startup. Thanks for the info!
  7. I'm running Win7-64 and notice that PinballX takes a lot longer to autostart than Hyperpin - like 10s of seconds longer. It doesn't bother me, so I haven't spent time debugging it, but I thought the feedback might be relevant to this thread.
  8. Grumble. Things aren't looking so good for offline Steam. I seem to be stuck between two problems - neither of which I know how to solve. If Steam isn't running, PBX gets stuck on the launch dialog that wants you to go online or accept offline mode. Neither option can be selected by mere keystrokes. If I manually start Steam and accept offline mode before firing up PBX; well then Steam is already running and that's its own problem for launching an instance. I'll keep poking, but it doesn't look good for offline FX2 tables based on what (little) I know.
  9. This thread is pure gold! I've never used Steam or AHK before, and I was able to get PBX singing with PBFX2 in just a few hours. Thanks! Only a few issues left to resolve. Maybe folks can give me some pointers, otherwise I'll keep digging around til I find more paydirt. *** EDIT: Issues moved down below and documented as I "solve" them. *** - Has anyone got this running with Steam Offline? My preference is to take my cab offline once I get it configured, and I know I can run Zen tables when Steam is offline. The sticking point appears to be the initial dialog that pops up when Steam is offline. I don't know enough about AHK to choose the "stay offline" option instead of "go online and restart." Anyone have an example script fragment I can look at to fix this? I don't know if tabbing to the second option and hitting enter will work, but I may give that a shot tomorrow. I'll keep digging at this one remaining issue, and will update this post if I sort out a nice solution. *** I solved the problem of my backglass images disappearing by adding <hidebackglass>False</hidebackglass> to all XML entries. I have a pinDMD2, so the <hidedmd> tag isn't immediately useful to me, but might be of interest to 3 monitor folks. *** *** I solved the key mapping issue for my cab by downloading Xpadder. Haven't started on analog plunger and nudge yet, but I understand there are a couple XBox controller emulators that can be mapped to various controllers. ***
  10. Your last rev is looking really nice. I've been cutting my teeth on PBX for around a week now, and I learned some things from it that I will try out tomorrow! (e.g. I didn't know about the XML name/value pairs for hiding/showing backglasses and DMDs - hoping that will solve my disappearing FX2 BGs. I will be looking into running MAME on my cab soon also!)) One topic that's fresh in my mind since I've been working on it this evening is .AHK customization for Pinball FX2. It might be good to add header comments in your sample to point out that the file will almost certainly need to be edited and recompiled. I picked up on how that's hung together fairly quickly by crawling through some excellent threads, but I doubt it will be obvious to most. Another section that might be useful is a list of common problems/user errors. I know I struggled a bit with focus when setting up BAM/FP. You do a good job pointing out the difference between virtual DMDs and real DMDs, but that was something else that tripped me up - I wasted a fair bit of time trying to get my pinDMD2 to do things that PBX currently doesn't support.
  11. Cool. Randr convinced me to switch over to PBX yesterday, and I'm digging it so far. Very easy to switch over from Hyperpin, and there's a lot of flexibility to configure. Great work - well worth a donation!
  12. Has pinDMD2 support made it into PBX yet?
  13. What if I want to completely eliminate this menu? Gamex appears to have a simple menu setting that strips away some of this "complexity." I'd really like to just hit start on a wheel selection and have the table load. Hitting start a second time is a minor but unecessary step for the way I'd like my cab to function.
  14. So loading progress bars are not currently supported? That's one of the last things I really want to get working to give my cab a polished user experience. btw - I installed and configured PBX in only a few minutes, and it was really trouble free to get up and running. Migration of data from my Hyperpin setup was a breeze. Really nice work!
