It was on poster paper, and for me, £8. Or for our US friends just over $12. Ain't Google great for conversions?!

Hello all, Yesterday I went into town and got my marquee printed, for UK cab/mame devotees, Jessops are the guys . I created it by taking some of the 'Arcade/Defender' generic marquee, with a bit of the generic 'grid', as this will go well with my Control Panel Overlay (when it gets to me from America. So I don't have to forever have to select games/add credits for friends I added an instructions 'card' either side of the marquee. (They are standard Ipac controls) I have to say I was most impressed with my artwork, and what was really cool was the guys who printed it for me were really interested in what it was for and whether I designed it myself (I suppose it took away from the standard poster sized Mother/Baby photos!!!!) What was most impressive was that even though it had to be on a poster, was that they kept it to my original size, opened it in Adobe AND when it was printed, they guillotined it for me too. (YAY!) So...I thought I would show you the installed marquee (lit up!) and upload the png so that if you want to use it yourselves go ahead, download and enjoy. Unfortunatly I do not have a 'real camera' so I used my android to take the photo of the lit marquee, and had to take three seperate photos, I have added them all together to give you an impression of what it looks like! EDIT: - |I have also included the adobe illustrator file in zipped format, so you can resize etc if you ever do wanna print it for your own cab. Arcade.zip

OOOOOOOO it works again!!!! YAY!!!! Many thanks again Tom

OK will try that, hang on to your seatbelts.... I'm gonna game tag myself right now :-D

Not at all, it just confirms why I have stuck with Game Ex since 2006/7. The community and how quick/easy it is to get things fixed is awesome. Not only that, it's nice to know that Tom himself is on hand to fix things too. (You don't get THAT kind of service from Microsoft!!!)

So how come game ex live isn't updating?
-
One thing I have noticed, when the Setup Wizard is in full screen it used to scroll up and down real slow when there is a lot of data to configure, now it's speedy! I cannot translate (I only speak American, Austrailian and English) but it does seem to be more responsive on my cab. Great work Headkaze, Oh and the subject of thanks (slightly off topic) also much appreicated with Mame compiler64, made life much easier! You guys ROCK!

Hi again, Many thanks for getting me up and running on Game-Ex Live, it worked for a day now it doesn't seem to update or want to connect. I have added port 8383 to my exeptions list on my router and firewall in my cab, but it don't wanna play :-( Any ideas guys? It's probably something I missed again!!

I am glad some-one else had the same problem as me! I feel less stoopid now Thanks again, you guys aew awesome, as always

Tried that, and it is not believing that I am a member, well I am assuming that, as my username is in red - or could it be that I have a hyphen in my username??

Well, the flatpack two player bartop, (just the shell) comes from Tiny Arcade (http://tinyarcade.co.uk) and is a mere snip at £149. I am super imressed with it, normally flatpack and T-Jay shouldn't be in the same sentence! Many thanks for your comments too

Well, after a lot of thought, drooling etc (over 7 years of thought and drolling!) and installing/uninstalling/re-installing Game Ex on my HTPC, last month I plunged myself into my first cabinet. I would like to say thanks to Tom and Headkaze for their software (that is Game Ex, instantsheller and Mamecompiler64)that has made the cab look FANTASTIC!!!! Still to buy though, stickers for the side art, a marquee light, Control panel overlay, and moniter bezel. It is running on a mini-ITX board, with a notebook hard drive (specs escape me at the moment!) a mini-ipac (thanks Andy!). I did however buy the cab in flatpack form from Tiny Arcades. This is probably what everyone else went through with thier first cab - my friends called me mad when I started the project, now they are asking 'Have you got XXX Game?!!' and spend over an hour or four before coming off it!!

I fogot to add that bit, the lowering of the UAC, but, if it's a media center PC, and 'all' it's doing is grabbing the guide, GameEX Live and a few apps that you have installed, it's 'kinda' safer. I know this sounds like the old cliche, but if you have a good anti-virus and firewall, and don't surf the 'net like you do on a standard PC, then it should be ok. Bear in mind I have had this problem since last year since I bought my case with an Imon VFD, and (crossed fingers) had no isues at all. EDIT: - In the set-up wizard under 'tweaks and performance' if you add the EnableDisableImon executable to 'launch on startup' and on 'Launch on Exit, GameEx can do this automatically. Makes it a lot easier...I've just found this out hehehe

I have the same issue with my HTPC, with my imon VFD, but there is a fix. And a reason why.... 'This problem occurs because Windows DirectInput Device Enumeration API function requests the device description string of iMON hardware even it talks to Windows that it does not support the description string. When some games or Windows Control Panels Game Controllers is running, the problem that iMON device is disconnected and then connected repeatedly occurs with some models and some versions of iMON hardware.' - From soundgraphs site. In order to avoid this problem, iMON device should be disabled before the Windows DirectInput Device Enumeration API function is called. Because some games and Windows Control Panels Game Controllers call this API function periodically, it would be better disable iMON device before these programs are running and enable it again after exiting these programs The problem seems to be windows, NOT the LCD/VFD's as soundgraphs users think otherwise. For IMON users, go to this link for the app to disable/enable the imon device. http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/faq.php?faq=sg_faq_sw_imon_manager_g_01#faq_sg_faq_software_products_gamecontrol There are ways and means on adding a shortcut into more programs in media center. The best program I found to do this was media senter studio, as you can add menu strips and programs to media center. All you need to do though is remember to switch off the Imon device before connecting your game controllers and running GameEx!!

Must've missed that bit Shouldn't read forums late at night

Hi Tom, I would like to be part of the TV beta test, as I have MCE, it would be nice to have everything all in one place rather than moving from one 10" front end to another.... I have sent my specs of my my PC to you btw...

T-Jay replied to Tom Speirs's topic in GameEx Media Projects
Hi, all, This is my first try at a theme. I liked the mce background (the one that shows snaps/vids as a background) As I am neither a Paint shop pro/Photoshop geru I went for the plagurize route! (I don't know whether this is good/bad etiquete so if I stood on any toes then I appoligise!) What i modified: Changed the font to size 4 so you can read the text better on a 4:3 TV - changed this in the theme.ini file Used the 'Gold' selector bar from the main website i.e the bar selector zip file Instead of Console logos I have used Company logos, It works best in 16bit colour, as I found that the original theme worked faster, but the main background looked pixelated in 16 bit (, this was the original reason for modification. For the default background I used the Game Ex logo. With the Video/pics in the background it does look awesome, but then again, I'm not known for my taste As I have said before, as this isn't wholly an original theme, I don't know if I'm 'doing the right thing' Here is a link to where I'm hosting it btw, if that's ok too... http://www.biggerontheinside.co.uk/downloa...arge%20Font.zip Please comment.... and be nice/nasty etc Cheers T-Jay -
Never thought of it like that... Thabks for helping me out guys! It's also nice to have the author of the software helping you too! One of the many reasons that make Game Ex unique to all the other sofware models out there.

I am now feeling a bit silly now... My Karaoke files are all on a partition NOT inside a folder.... Game Ex couldn't see 'em!!! The moment I put 'em in a folder and setup Game Ex to find the CDG/Mp3 files in said folder, it worked! 'Directory' doesn't mean Partition! - Must remember this!! DOH Sorry for wasting your time there Tom!! I am now feeling really stupid now, as it's not Game Ex's fault but me being very very silly!!
-
Just looked in the directory and these files aren't there to delete...
