  1. If a person presses the esc & ctrl keys at the same time the *windows start menu*pops up. These are two buttons used in MAME & GameEx. Is there a way to tell windows to ignore these shortcuts? When guests play the machine they are prone to surfacing this issue & it really causes problems (restart of GameEx required). Thanks!
  2. Nice, everything works pretty well. Thank you for the help, had you not gave me this info I would have spent a week trying to get this to work. thanks!
  3. I dont know yet, still at work (yuk). I notice in the list of "things to speed up gameex" the word "might" is given some special attention as if it were a "duh" of some sorts when referring to ram at 256mb so I will take the mem from my home office pc & place it in my cabinet's dedicated pc to see what happens in combination with your advice. even tho I would think that is referring to game selecting, not playing since all is well in mame32 on its own but I am not expert by any means. wish me luck, I have a party this weekend & this cabinet needs to be up & running smooth so I can show off!
  4. I am running 0.98 because anything newer seems to give me trouble with the galaga roms, do you have that problem? thanks
  5. Hello, I am having difficulty with games skipping only in gameex but not in mame32 when used as standalone. I have tried to disable/enable the bypass disclaimer option on both programs, enable/disable triple buffering, decreased audio quality, changed latency up/down & checked my sound settings in the control panel. There are stutters, then the game will skip, sound is skipping as well. The 2.5Ghz processor & 248 RAM worked fine before, is this relative? Any ideas or settings to change? Thanks.
  6. Funny thing, I use mame32 v0.94 & the spinner/trackball work fine, I think anything newer than mame32 v0.97 requires you to map each game one at a time (yuk, that would take weeks). Here is the odd part, if I update the gameex game list using mame32 v0.94 it only finds 98 games which the version I want to use due to the spinner/trackball drama but now thats theres only 98 games I was baffled. BUT If I compile/update the gameex game list using mame32 v0.104 (or close to that version, cant remember since I am at work right now) there are 3,000 games that appear. SO I had to create the list with mame32 v0.104 but then sneak behind gameex & insert mame32 v.094 in the place of the v0.104 identical directory & then decline the question "want to update game list", after the next gameex boot, then I hit backspace & all the games so far on the list from v0.104 work despite using the v0.94 edition. I would imagine as long as mame32 can operate the game gameex wont limit its (mame32) abilities right? any ideas? thanks
  7. hello, I reinstalled gameex along with a newer version of mame & etc. Now I cannot get galaga to appear, then I revert to the old mame & its there (galaga) but if I download an even older version its missing again..............strange. Also, the spinner & trackball are not working correctly, mame wants to just choose one over the other. is there something I can do to correct these issues? I download an older version of MAME & the spinner/trackball all work in harmony but then galaga disappears once again. weird Thanks
