I set up the command from a couple of posts back in the Other Systems section and then set up 1 table in the game manager. I can't give specifics as I'm not near the machine at the moment. I'm not using the Steam version but that also seems to work fine for people.

Working now, it took me a while to remember that you have to set something up in game manager as well (I've been away from PinballX for at least a year).

insx started following Weird button mapping problem and Anyone able to add Pro Pinball Ultra ?
-
The command in my case is: "C:\Program Files\Pro Pinball Ultra\ProPinball.exe" m3 q but I still need to set up PinballX to run it.
-
I'm afraid not, I switched to Hyperpin when I couldn't get it working with nVidia and then when I tried to go back to PinballX it was completely screwed up and I couldn't figure out why. I gave up, Hyperpin does what I need for now.

Sorry, I don't have nVidia in my cab any more.

1.77 - I am unable to get PinballX to start up with Windows XP SP3
insx replied to quincy2686's topic in General
I'm getting exactly the same error but mine was working yesterday. Strange. -
Hmm. It wouldn't bother me that the button numbers were different if they were performing the correct functions.

I have a very weird problem getting my buttons to do what they are supposed to in pinballx. According to the Windows game controllers control panel, my buttons are as follows: 4 Left flipper 5 Right flipper 3 Start button 7 Exit button When I do the button config in pinballx settings this happens: 3 Left flipper 4 Right flipper 2 Start button 6 Exit It gets even stranger because when I actually try to use those buttons this happens: Right flipper - rotates screen Exit button - does nothing Left flipper - left (correct) Start button - select (correct) I'm not running xpadder. I do have joy2key on my machine for Pinball FX2 but I terminated it and it makes no difference. I don't have any problems like this with Hyperpin.

Yes, uninstalled and then did a clean install. I have directx 9 for XP which is the latest available.

Here's my log. I recently changed my GTS450 card for another GTS450 with better cooling. I also have a NVS290 for the backglass and DMD. I can't even exit once now. 18:02:13.3 21/01/2014: PinballX - Version 1.7218:02:13.3 21/01/2014: Loading Settings18:02:13.3 21/01/2014: Launching Startup Program: notepad.exe18:02:13.3 21/01/2014: \notepad.exe 18:02:13.3 21/01/2014: Initialize Component18:02:13.4 21/01/2014: Initialize Display18:02:13.6 21/01/2014: Start with windows is set so waiting 5 seconds. Yes, I'm on 1.72. I can continue to post logs if it's helpful but if it won't be looked at any more I will look for another solution.

I tried a Radeon card and I tried WIndows 7. VP performance was worse in both cases, even though the Radeon card does a lot better in benchmark tests than my nVidia card. So I'm back to nVidia and XP. Was there any more progress on this issue or are we stuck with it?

Hi Folks I'm struggling to get anywhere with this. If the [system_1] section is present in the config, should PInball FX2 then show up in the game manager's dropdown list? I can start PInball FX2 from the command line either from the PInball FX2 folder or with the steam -applaunch method but I can't get anything in PinballX. I'm only looking to start the game at the moment, I don't need direct menu access to all the tables. Or is that the only way to do it? Cheers. UPDATE: It turns out that I just had a "Pinball FX2" vs "PinballFX2" problem.
-
It looks like I won't be upgrading to Windows 7 for the time being but I will soon be trying a Radeon + nVidia combination rather than 2 x nVidia.
-
Yes, I'll let you know. I read that VP runs quicker under Windows 7.
