Thanks for that. I got a prompt reply from Tom along with a new key

Hi Guys. I bought a key for GaemeEx back in 2005 (my key file Date Modified is 17/11/2005). Anyway, I've downloaded the most recent GameEx and run the REG file. It seems to work ok but I still get the GameEx nag screen. Has something changed since '05 that would stop my REG key from working ? Regards, Brian. *BTW I mailed Tom asking for my key as I thought I'd lost it. fyi, I found it Tom

Thanks. I think it is working now Even have SendKeys working to start the game .. the 'Run' key. Problem was just Deamon Tools. Once I got 4.00 installed that was it. However, it was so late at night...I messed it up !? Cheers Guys.
-
If you are going for Happs joysticks. Go for the Comps or Super. Stay clear of the Ultimates.

Ok. So I installed 4.00 and that has solved the Secure mode confirmation. However, when MagicEngine now starts it still has lost focus. Can't remember now exactly what was happening as it was late last night and I am in work now !? Will look again later to see exactly what is now happening.

Thanks Tom. Seems the problem is with Deamon Tools. I am getting the following window pop up ... "Secure mode confirmation for command line:..XXXX" This secure mode setting is causing GameEx to lose focus I set it to off in deamon tools but when I restart windows the setting is back. Should I be using an older deamon tools ?

Hi, I am having a problem with GameEx and MagicEngine. Seems when I run a Turbo CD game GameEx loses focus! I get a black screen until I press enter. Then I get MagicEngine displayed but 'focus' is lost. As in...I press a btn but I get teh windows error beep as if windows focus is on something else. I have run the configured commands for GameEx TurboCD config from the cmd prompt and it works fine. Anyone any ideas why this is happening? Cheers, Brian.

Thanks. I did get teh daily build (2004 though!) alright and vids play fine now. Although I cannot record videos in GameEx for some reason. I uninstalled divx and now just have ffdshow installed.

Thanks Tom. My apologies for asking a question already answered in the docs.

I just moved my whole installation to a newer PC (re installed everything) and now when I am browsing MAME games in GameEx I have a problem. When a game simply has a snapshot as a preview it displays fine. But if the game has a movie preview then GameEx will minimize and the desktop is displayed. Nothing happens and I cannot get GameEx to maximize again. I tried uninstalling DivX and then the movies wouldn't play but GameEx did not minimize. I reinstalled DivX (codecs+player) and the orig problem returned. I also tried just installing the DivX codecs and the same problem. Should I be installing DivX at all or some other bundle of codecs ? Cheers, Brian.

Hi, If this is the wrong place then strike me down Just thought you guys who use Fusion/Gens to play Sega CDs might be able to help me out... I am looking for some help with Kega Fusion/Gens emus and playing Sega CD iso/mp3/cues but with two ISOs ?! I have successfully gotten one game to play (Robo Aleste) but for the most part when I run the emus I get the Sega CD, CD Player or just Sonic and then blank (black) screen. Most of the ones I can't get to work have 2 ISO files and multiple wav/mp3 although NHL 94 was one iso/multiple wavs and still no luck. Just Sonic and then nothing! The good cue files start with the iso and the bad cue file start with an mp3/wav track. Example... Rainbow Island (Jap) track-01.wav track-02.iso track-03.wav etc... ... track-31.wav track-32.iso Any ideas ? This is killing me as I have tried SOoooo many times now but don't know what to do when the game has two ISOs. btw...I use Sega Cue Maker to make the cues and winLame to convert MP3s. Then I use Fusion to open the cue and play the game (well one game works). Help very much appreciated. Basically how do you guys get your Sega CD games going ? Cheers, Brian.

Thanks Nologic. I got the syscard3.pce and now it works Deamon tools mounts the image. then "pce.exe syscard3.pce -cd" ... works a charm Thanks again for your help.
-
Tried the -cd:F. No luck. But I just looked for syscar3.pce...and I can't find it !
-
Hang on a second. Do I have to have a "syscard3.pce" file ?
-
I have the syscard stuff. I only posted a small part of my ini. I tried "pce.exe -cd" with the image mounted. And it still just loads MagicEngine & no game. Appreciate the help.
-
WOW. Love the Cab. What theme you using in GameEx? Really nice and simple. Also, where did you get Raiden III for PC? I would sell an arm to get that !
-
Thanks. The only diff between our ini files is the ... [cdrom] ; ; CD-ROM drive ; -- ; 1 -> first CD-ROM drive [default] ; 2 -> second CD-ROM drive ; ... ; drive= I tried 1 through 4 and tried it. No luck. Still won't auto load the CD game

From Ireland also guys Getting stuff is a pain but I got lucky and got a free Dragons Lair Cab (minus controls & Monitor). Its mostly complete now, hence my recent posts here, a year or more after buying GameEx. I did get a second Cab but gave it too my uncle as the missus wouldn't allow it in the house As others have stated. I recommend byoac. My problems now are Software config and Artwork. Want to get a marquee and bezel printed.

Hi, I can't seem to get MagicEngine to boot CD games automatically. I used the config from the sticky post but no luck. GameEx loads but just leaves me with black screen until I ESC. I tried from command line to mount in deamon tools and then run "pce.exe syscard3.pce" and the same thing! here is what I try to do... "C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -mount 0,"C:\Documents and Settings\oneilbr\Desktop\PC Engine CD Roms\R-Type CD (Jap).nrg" Seems to mount the image correctly. Then i run ... pce.exe syscard3.pce MagicEngine just loads up its main menu and I have to manually select boot cd and then the drive its mounted on before I get the game to run. My MagicEngine cfg (pce.ini) is as it was when I installed it except I changed .... drive_letter to F: (which is what Deamon Tools uses) # ---- # cd-rom settings # ---- # [cdrom] ; ; CD-ROM drive ; -- ; 1 -> first CD-ROM drive [default] ; 2 -> second CD-ROM drive ; ... ; drive= ; ; CD-ROM drive letter ; -- ; (Windows 2000/XP only) ; ; D: ; E: ; ... ; drive_letter=F: ; ; CD-ROM cache ; -- ; y -> enable [default] ; n -> disable ; cache= ; ; CD-ROM cache size ; -- ; 0 .. 8192 KB [default = 512] ; cache_size= Thanks guys. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Brian.

Cool. Mame stored favorites by rom name only. Justa text list like so... [ROOT_FOLDER] 19xxjr1 20pacgal invaders Would be cool to be able to port my list over. Even using some external batch file or something. Doesn't have to be integrated to GameEx...although obviously that'd be great. Also, while on the subject... The favorites list in GameEx...would be nice if games were qualified by teh system they are for like so. Rather than... Ghouls n'Ghosts Ghouls n'Ghosts It would show... Ghouls n'Ghosts (Sega Genesis) Ghouls n'Ghosts (Arcade) Cheers, Brian.

Tom, I just installed the latest gameex after a year and I lost all my favorites Is it possible to keep my favorites list when I install a new version of gameex. And I know I asked you this a long time ago but .... anyway of getting my list of favorite mame games (favorites.ini used by MAME) into a my gameex favorites list? I have like 300 MAME favorites which will take forever to port to Gameex ? Cheers, Brian.
