  1. Have you actually created the directory? I think I ran across this before and it wouldn't run because I hadn't created the directory yet.
  2. BIOS is not included with mame releases, you will need to find it elsewhere, I can't link to it for you due to legal issues but i'm sure with some searching you could find it. Turning off verification won't mean you have a heap of roms that don't work, simply turn on only working roms and allow imperfect. Much better option.
  3. Turning off verification will also make the listing of ROMs much quicker. Might not affect you if you don't have large numbers of ROMS. Probably best to do both, turn off verification and update your BIOS.
  4. My mistake, thought there was a bug with the hidetoolbar settings. Please ignore post.
  5. Thanks. This will come in handy.
  6. FYI, the gun on T2 was not actually a light gun like those used in time crisis etc. It was actually a 4 way joystick mounted in the base of the gun. If you remember, you tilted the gun to aim and this registered on the joysticks. Just a useless bit of trivis.
  7. As above. Project64 does not support .7z
  8. Thanks tom!
  9. Thanks for the update! Fixes my focus issue.
  10. I only have one glitch and I'm not sure if it's a config issue, GameEx issue or emulator issue. Basically sometimes when I run a mame game, the actual game loses focus and focus is returned to the hide windows task. I then have to alt tab into the game. Not that dificult as I have a keyboard in my cabinet, but it does ruin some of the cabinet illusion.
  11. Another thing: The roms will only show up if the applicalbe BIOS files are there. Mame32 will still show them with missing BIOS files.
  12. I seriously think that as Tom said the problem is all in the configuration and not in GameEx. My dedicated cabinet machine is a XP1700 with 256MB of RAM and I have no problems whatsoever running GameEx with jukebox enabled, video backgrounds and more than 10 emulators configured including an entire mame set. There are so many configuration optimisations within windows itself that you should be looking at.
  13. Two things to check for the Neo Geo issue: 1. Make sure you have the appropriate Neo Geo BIOS roms in your rom directory. 2. Make sure there is no filter set in the gameex config to filter Neo Geo games out of the list. CPS = Capcom Play System Capcom's arcade technology that was home to many of my favourite titles such as the Street Fighter series, Aliens vs Predator and many others. Definitely some roms worth checking out in this set. Cheers
  14. First two things to check: 1. Make sure there isn't any filter set on neo geo titles under the filter option. 2. Make sure you have the appropriate neo geo bios files.
  15. I had this issue when I enabled direct input and had my keyboard driver loaded (driver for multimedia buttons). Disabling directinput or uninstalling the driver fixed the issue.
  16. I think it is a good idea to change GameEx to shareware. Personally I am not interested in any of the htpc extras as I see GameEx purely as an emulator frontend. I would still be willing to pay for a license for the emulator frontend side of things as I can see how much time and effort you put into the software. I also appreciate how you listen to people's suggestions and implement them if they are a good idea.
  17. I also would love to find some really suitable videos. I'm considering using the VIVO on my pc to capture some output from some of my older systems that I have floating around. I will post up any such videos once done.
  18. You have to run the mame command line tool to create the .ini file. The switch you are looking for is: mame -createconfig This will create the file for you to modify.
  19. Firstly, must thank you for developing the best front end system for MAME. Always impressed with your rapid updates and new ideas. I'm having a bit of an issue when I update my mame list that it misses many roms that I know I have(can run from cmd line) and that should be appearing in the list. I'm not doing any list filtering and I am allowing imperfect so I can not see why these games are not appearing in the list. I wouldn't expect you to troubleshoot with my issue but could you please explain how the list is generated? Is the list of ROMs supported by the current version of MAME simply matched up against the files seen in the ROM folder? (Ignoring all info added by catver and history etc) Thanks and keep up the good work
