  1. Looks like Clrmame Pro is a good choice for this. A lot of options. Has anyone tried Rom Center? I'm wondering which would be a good pick to find bad roms. Thanks!
  2. A while back I downloaded Mame videos to use with GameEx within the Mame areas of the front end which work great. I have noticed that not all games have associated videos, which I would like to clean up. GameEx supports the option to create these based upon the roms you have which is awesome! I tried this earlier this week and noticed that after a while I started getting a number of command boxes refering to rom sets that were bad and couldn't load. Looks like I need to start with house keeping on my rom sets. Do you guys have any recommendations on the best way to clean rom sets so that only working roms are displayed in GameEx. I'm working off of a full rom set... Thanks!

    Jukebox

Tom, Don't know if this is just something with my set up but with the latest version I'm now not getting the jukebox to start up at all when selecting to enable the feature. It works fine if I select it once I'm in GameEx but nothing plays on startup.

    Jukebox

Yup, Jukebox is set to media player mode and if I select the playlist it plays fine...

    Jukebox

I recently upgraded to the latest version of GameEx and have enabled the feature to start the jukebox playing when GameEx is started. I've picked a playlist that I've created in media player, but GameEx is just selecting a track at random to play from my entire list of MP3 files within media player. Any ideas? Thanks,
  6. I've read through this thread and in the end, can't truly believe that we're having the conversation. Tom has done an excellent job creating a front end application and should be rewarded for all the effort he has put into creating and supporting it through this site. I've paid. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner. Again, great job Tom and keep up the good work!
  7. This worked well for me: http://www.tomspeirs.com/gameex/Shell.htm
  8. Thanks! I just loaded .72 last night and found that I had the same problem. I was wondering what I was losing not having the path specified for the Icons... I like the new Splash screen and RSS feeds (I was several releases behind)! Tom, I have an X-arcade console connected to my cabinet. Have you added anything specific for using this now that you have one? Thanks!

    Dragon's Lair

If I remember correctly when I used DVD2DAPHNE it created the framefile for me...

    Quick question

Several weeks ago I followed a process that was posted on this site to update the image that is displayed when I select Laser Disk games so that it runs an AVI. This works great... Now that the latest version of GameEx supports Video Snaps I'd like to revert this back to a static image on this page and then have the AVIs play once a game is selected. Problem is, I can't find the previous post which explained what to edit! Any ideas? Thanks!

    Daphne Intro

Just read the changes for 4.06. Looks like Tom has included this in the latest release. Thanks!
  12. Bingo! That did it! Down to just a second or Two... Thanks Tom!

    Daphne Intro

I'm in the process of setting of Daphne to work in GameEx and have a quick question. I'd like to display a video in the lower left hand corner like I'm doing for Mame as you select each game to play. I've downloaded a Dragon's Lair intro from Digital Leasure to use but there doesn't seem to be a video snap option in the configuration application like for Mame. Is this possible? Thanks!
  14. Sorry Tom, I still get the same wait time while saving with this file...
  15. I'm also using a dual controller from X-Arcade. It saved me a ton of time compared to building my own and supports multiple platforms. Well worth the money. Click the link below for pictures of the cabinet that I built using the controller...
  16. No change for me either...
  17. I'll try it tonight as well. I'm was planning on configuring Daphne support so I'll copy the new config app over first and check it out...

    Won't Load

Don't know if this will help but when I first tried GameEx it ran into a problem trying to load the Daphne emulator which I didn't have installed. Once I disabled it GameEx loaded fine...
  19. This is a quick picture I took of my Mame cabinet. I also recently added a bezel around the TV... You can find a lot of pictures and information about the build process that I went through on my Tech Projects Blog site listed below. This has really been a fun project. Thanks for the great front end to manage all the games!
  20. I used the free TweakUI Microsoft PowerTool to designate an account with Administrator access to automatically login. This avoids the login screen. You also may want to look at the document on the links page of this site for hiding windows boot up screens. I used this as a template to my boot process and have a nice clean startup for my cabinet.

    Visual Pinball

Tom, I haven't done a search yet to see if the script is part of your install for GameEx, is it included or available online? Thanks!

    Visual Pinball

Quick question on setting up Visual pinball to run from GameEx. I've looked at the settings that people are using from previous posts but am wondering what the vpauto.exe app is. I have Visual Pinball installed and running with roms. Right now the way I have it configured, when I select a table from GameEx it runs Visual Pinball and then says loading table. The table runs full screen but the Visual Pinball application is still in front. Does vpauto remove the window? Thanks!
  23. I do have the latest version of .net but I'm not certain about the service pack. I could double check that... I also have 256meg of ram in this machine. It almost looks like it's timing out on something...
  24. That did it... The configuration screen doesn't hang, it just sits for a while and then comes back. Mine took about a minute and a half.
  25. Worked great, I also didn't need to map a drive for the MP3s but was able to select them from the network directly adding them into Media Player. Once in Media Player they were all availble in GameEx. Thanks!
