I'd like to see SlingFront support the latest ActiveX plugin too. From my testing, the latest plugins is more stable, better picture and lower latency on key presses. Any chance of someone looking into why this doesn't work?
I agree, the problem is when the menu is overlaid on the stream. Being able to have an opaque background or just 'no fade' would improve the sluggishness noticeably. It is strange because I assume the graphics card can do graphics over video so it may be because the slingvideo decode is SW/ActiveX rather than full native.
I'm running SlingFront on a Zotac Zbox, but alas the graphics chip doesn't seem to handle translucent graphics over video very well. It is possible to have a menu setting to disable the fade effect on the menus. If it is possible with a config file or registry entry that is also fine with me. As it is I can see the redraws (sometimes a second or more) over the video.. It works but isn't wife friendly.. ;-)
I can force SNATT by temporarily blocking TCP and I see the SlingFront UI cycle between trying TCP and trying SNATT, so it seems like SlingFront has some access to the TCP vs SNATT setting. Any way to make this accessible to users?
Nice job with SlingFront. I've been trying it on my HTPC and it works well. One feautre request is whether it is possible to force SNATT (rather than TCP) thru SlingFront. I'm trying to get the best quality and have made SlingFront use SNATT by blocking the TCP port but it would be easier if we could just switch modes to compare quality.
