  1. I actually use a program called Deepnet Explorer, it's kinda like taking FireFox and IE and merging the two together....except it uses the IE engine instead of Mozilla which eliminates 99% of the issues of using non IE based browsers... http://deepnetexplorer.com Been using it for about a year now and it has quite handy features that IE didn't have at the time...but FireFox did.
  2. Tell me about it! I do software support for an Automotive company. One of our Partner company's software WILL NOT work with IE7 as of yet.....GUESS what call I got first thing this morning! I thought it was bad enough when customer were calling in with problems after installing the Beta version....gotta love it.
  3. Ahh..got it fixed....For some reason, the GameEx process Affinity was set to use both processors on my AMD Dual Core....set that back to only using one core and all is working again.
  4. Just downloaded the new version 7.01 and enabled bezels...Went to play a few that had artwork...DigDug and such. Each game is playing irratic..Graphics slow down and speed up, and occasionally sound effects are glitchy sounding. I tried 3-4 games and each one did this. Is there some other settings I may be overlooking?? I haven't dug in too deep yet as I just don't have time right this moment...just wondering if anyone has experienced this?
  5. A while back I used to have a site bookmarked that had various speed and sensitivity settings for the trackball games in MAME. I can no longer find that link and looking around on Google only got me one or two game settings? Does anyone recollect anything like this on the web? Basically i'm looking for the ballpark settings for the majority of the popular Trackballs games in MAME. Anyone? PS..Thanks for all your hard work Tom and everyone who helps contribute to this project. It still makes me antsy at work...itching to come home and play!
  6. So what games have people played that actually work and work well? I'm debating pulling the emulator from my list, but convince me not to!
  7. Ok..so I've tried getting Atari Jaguar working and I've D/L the rom sets and also I've got a few CD images, too. How many of these games really do work? Seems like it's a real crap shoot on getting games working. Is everyone using Project Tempest or what? I'd like some ideas, please.
  8. I don't harp in as much as I should since this progam is a part of my daily routine...so a BIG THANK YOU Tom for making such a wonderful and purpose driven piece of software...truly wonderful!!!
  9. CarnEvil is one of the first games I tried when I got my new machine...an XP Dual Core 3800+. My old machine was a XP 3000+ and there was only a slight Improvement, but no where enough to run it decently. I just loaded it and ran the frame rate...inside the game mine runs about 27-30fps out of 57fps. And the sound is all real jittery. Gauntlet Legends was pushing 12!!!!
  10. How many games are supposed to show up under the Model 2 Emulation? I'm seeing 21..is that correct?
  11. Tom, I checked the laptop graphics adapter and it shows this: Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME (think it's an Intel Mobile Extreme Graphics chipset?) Bios 2894 This is in a Toshiba Laptop. Any Ideas would be great...think there might be an update for this or something...might look around the web and see.
  12. I installed GameEx on our laptop so that we can play Karaoke on our big screen in the living room. On my arcade GameEx plays just fine, however on my laptop whenever I open up a song to play for Karaoke the toolbar just flickers rapidly instead of staying solid for the first 5-10 seconds and then dissapears as usual. When you mouse over to show the tool bar, again it just flickers rapidly instead of staying solid. I installed ffdshow, thinking that it might be a video issue but that didn't correct the problem. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas....Gotta be something simple if it's working on my other machine I would think.
  13. K what's the rules on file attachments? I put it in a .rar file, but not seeing it. Tom can I upload it to you directly?
  14. Ok Tom, I've attached the video clip of the flickering problem. Now the video is tricky to explain but I'll try my best. First off...I went back and reverted back to my previous version of ATI drivers. Then I d/l your latest release. Then I ran the program at 640X480 and ran the video screen capture. You're going to see the screen flicker in GameEX a lot..I'm sure it's probably because the program takes over the whole window. All the flickering you see in GameEx itself is not actually doing that on my end. It is displaying fine. Just focus on the video snaps and when they flicker that's when they flicker on my Screen. It's like it's in synch with the rest of the flickering of GameEx though when it does happen..but I'm not seeing that...I'm just seeing the actual video flickers. I'm not programmer so please bear with me....are these files embedded in your program when displaying snaps? Is there like an overlay or underlay or something maybe that's refreshing? Sorry if I sound like I'm nit-picking. I appreciate all your work...just kind of a puzzle to me.
  15. Just checked..yep I have up to 05 listed and mslug 5 is listed in 2003. Running Mame .104
  16. I have Metal Slug 5 that was released for Mame last month and it shows up when sorting by name. I have not tried finding it sorting by date. Is your MS5 Showing up when sorting by Name? If not, updating your MAME list might fix the problem.
  17. I just installed the latest version of ati's catalyst drivers about 2 weeks ago. I wonder if these new driver are somehow causing this problem? I'll see if I can go back to my old drivers and see what that does. The flickering has to be new or I would have for sure noticed them before now. Sometimes the clip will flicker 10 - 15 times it seems in a 30 second video. Very annoying. I have a desktop video screen capure program...wonder If I windowed GameEx (possible in the newer releases right?) if I could record the flickering?
  18. Sorry for the confusion...the Intro Video while loading GameEx work fine...it's whenever I'm inside GameEx in the game listing where the video samples for each game are played on the left of the list.
  19. Tom, I've tried it both ways as well. My machine is a AMD XP 3000+ 1GB Ram ATI AIW 9600XT, so I got the goods to function well. I have set Vsync both off and on and restarted GameEx and it's the same thing. I have tried different themes as well. Some themes are causing the whole Front end screen (not just the attract vids, which I just use the little preview to the left) to quickly blink or flicker. I went through the the previews of the 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 19XX attract vids I have; most were MNGs and I think 1 was AVI. I d/l your MNG Player and these play without a hitch in the player. I just don't ever recall this happening before....I'm trying to retrace my steps to recall if I installed anything recently that would have affected my video display. I'm at a loss at what to do about it...the games themselves were fine once they're loaded up so I think its gotta be something within GameEx.
  20. Could be possible but it seems to do it every time I go into GameEx.
  21. I've noticed in the last couple of releases that most, but not all of my intro videos are really starting to flicker and flash a lot in GameEx. I don't remember them ever doing that before. I d/l the MNG Player just now to make sure it wasn't my video card drivers or something and it plays these files perfectly. I have tried various themes and that seems to make little difference. Anyone know what might be causing this? It's kind of distracting to the eye. I've tried turning on/off various display settings but doesn't seem to make a difference. Help Please...thanks.
  22. I'm running XP Pro SP2 I didn't have this problem before that I can recall before the last couple of GameEx Updates. Here is my Log... 17:56:43.2 12/21/2005: GameEx: Version 5.31: Starting Log 17:56:43.2 12/21/2005: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 17:56:43.2 12/21/2005: Operating System Name: Windows XP 17:56:43.2 12/21/2005: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 17:56:43.2 12/21/2005: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 17:56:43.2 12/21/2005: .net Framework 1.1 Installed 17:56:43.2 12/21/2005: Checking Registration 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Running Randomize() 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Running Misc startup tasks 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Setting Menu types 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Opening Configuration File 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Getting Configuration Values 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Using Theme: Default - GameEx 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - GameEx 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Text/Language: English 17:56:43.3 12/21/2005: Applying Language/Text 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Creating Scancodes.txt (List of DirectInput scan codes) 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Snap Delay set to: 4 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Is Media Center running? 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Media Center Mode 0 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Get other settings 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Using 3D Animations 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Desktop set to Hide ICONS and set Background to Black 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Backing up Registry Wallpaper Settings 17:56:43.4 12/21/2005: Set: Find emulator artwork on best match basis 17:56:43.5 12/21/2005: SlikStik support enabled 17:56:43.5 12/21/2005: Using DirectInput for keyboard input 17:56:43.5 12/21/2005: Launching HideOS.exe 17:56:44.7 12/21/2005: Hiding Taskbar 17:56:44.7 12/21/2005: Start work for Form 17:56:44.7 12/21/2005: Getting Original Screen Size 17:56:44.7 12/21/2005: Loading ICON 17:56:44.7 12/21/2005: Initializing Component 17:56:45.0 12/21/2005: Initialising Bass Audio Library 17:56:45.3 12/21/2005: Loading default loading screen 17:56:45.5 12/21/2005: Using General Font: HandelGothic BT 17:56:45.5 12/21/2005: Using Title Font: HandelGothic BT 17:56:45.5 12/21/2005: Initialising DirectDraw 17:56:45.5 12/21/2005: Applying GameEx is Loading Image 17:56:45.9 12/21/2005: Creating DirectDraw Device 17:56:45.9 12/21/2005: Using Device: ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 SERIES 17:56:46.1 12/21/2005: Setting Resolution to 800x600 32 bit color 17:56:47.2 12/21/2005: Creating DirectDraw Surfaces 17:56:47.2 12/21/2005: Creating Primary Surface - Full Screen Mode 17:56:47.5 12/21/2005: Creating Back Buffer 17:56:47.5 12/21/2005: Loading graphic surfaces 17:56:47.6 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Misc and Dialogs 17:56:47.9 12/21/2005: Creating Surface Volume 17:56:48.0 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Arrows 17:56:48.2 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces GameEXlogo Text 17:56:48.3 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Toolbar 17:56:48.7 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Backgrounds 17:56:51.1 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Toolbar Controls 17:56:51.3 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces GameEx Logo 17:56:51.3 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Home & Exit 17:56:51.4 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Snaps 17:56:51.4 12/21/2005: Creating Surfaces Menu and List Bars 17:56:51.6 12/21/2005: Creating Fonts 17:56:51.6 12/21/2005: Creating Menu Font 17:56:52.2 12/21/2005: Creating Game Font 17:56:52.6 12/21/2005: Creating Game Font Standard Size 17:56:52.9 12/21/2005: Creating Font Black 17:56:53.0 12/21/2005: Creating Font Black Small 17:56:53.0 12/21/2005: Creating Game Font Faded 17:56:53.4 12/21/2005: Creating Title Font 17:56:54.3 12/21/2005: Fonts Created Succesfully 17:56:54.3 12/21/2005: Initialising Windows Media Player Component 17:56:54.3 12/21/2005: MAME Path is: E:\Mame32 17:56:54.3 12/21/2005: ZiNc Path is: C:\Emulators\zinc 17:56:54.4 12/21/2005: ZiNc EXE file is: ZiNc.exe 17:56:54.4 12/21/2005: Use ZiNc on. Not A Big Deal..but would like to see what is causing it at least maybe.
  23. Videos are working again..after the 5.31 install. Mouse issue is resolved with a change in themes. Any reason why the desktop background won't revert back when exiting GameEx?
  24. Ok..did some playing around tonight...here's what I've come up with. I just downloaded 5.31. 1. What format are the video files in? Both Files are MPEG 2. Can you plug in a mouse and see if that's working. Are you running at an Arcade Monitor resolution, or turned on ArcadeMode? This disables the mouse. My PC is Dual Purposes in an Arcade Cabinet so a mouse is always connected to the PC. I have tried various themes...some will function and work with the mouse, some will not. I do not have this running in ArcadeMode. I had been using the Default BlueEx 800X600 for a long time with no problems. I seems that Default-Default, Default-GameEx, Default-DeepPurple are the ones I tried that will still function properly. Many of the other themes I tried will not work with the mouse any more (highlighting links and using mouse buttons to select) 3. This was a problem in versions before 5.30 but should be fixed now. Could you confirm its deffinitly still happening in 5.30? Even trying these themes, they still are keeping my Desktop black after exiting. I changed the option of Hide Desktop to NO to stop that problem.
  25. I just updated to 5.30 and am having some quirky problems after the update. First, I have a video folder set up for Intro Videos, these are not playing now. It is going straight to the loading screen. Second, I used to be able to move my trackball over the game titles and I could use that to select the games...now it will not move the cursor bar any more. I have to use the joystick. Third, when I exit GameEx, my background on the desktop is not reverting back to the original desktop background; it is staying black. From what I can tell the options for problems 1 and 2 are setup correctly in the admin. Anyone else experiencing these things?
