After getting my cab set up for the first time in a while, new install win7 all was good and was pretty much done tweaking when I started getting "gameex stopped working" dialog popping up and it dies It happened just after I started tweaking with attract and ambience settings so I reverted them but still the same problem, if anyone could help it would be much appreciated edit I changed out a memory module and same problem, its not impossible this is a PC problem but im praying not GameEx.ini log.txt SetupWizard_en.xml Solution

turned off use bezzles and all games run again strange

ok seem to have got it working, turned vfy roms off while im here could someone help with cple more things, I used to know this stuff like the back of my hand but I sure am rusty 1. when I press tab video options are not there so I cant enable artwork, bezzles etc 2. still getting the press OK warnings although im sure there set to be off in gameex and mame Thanks again

*Missing something simple

Yes ran it twice very quickly and only 78 games I'm issuing something simple. Mame shows over 5000 games in the available filter

I just switched back to mamue32 and now only 78 games show??

im using the 154 buld I got it working there was a windows dialogue box popping up on the background (mame audit info) on which after pressing OK the list was created only thing is just over 2000 games seem to be supported with this build although games that play in mameui tron etc dont appear on my gameex list???

I cant seem to update game list using MameUI64, just hangs even left it run all night but to no avail any advice?

My cab has been out of action for a few years, it ran xp but whilst getting it back together I'm thinking of using win7 64 I will primarily use mame and model 2 but would still like options of project 64 etc will I run in to issues using win 7 64? Thanks

Ok problem solved it seems that when reinstalling windows, windows had auto installed my GPU driver (nvidia 7300 GS) which I do remember but thought nothing of it as it meant I didnt have to download it manualy, the thing is the driver was dated june 11!! ie brand new, only thing being, it didnt play nice with my GPU!! so I got some old 2006 forceware driver and was able to install it and Bingo were up and running again! on another point changing my PSU prob wasnt a bad thing either as a dodgy NVIDIA driver woulnd't casue a PC to randomly powerup! So maybe I had a few issues which are gladly fixed now. Thanks all! oh one more thing my old install is on my other HD which is now a secondry HD in cab where can I find my favoutite file to save my the job of loading them bak on Gameex again? Forget that too lol As my HD wasnt the prob I switched bak to my old one and updated the GPU driver, intrestingly the driver on that HD was dated Feb 11 so obviously they didnt fix the bug in the june update!! moral of the story if it aint broke dont fix it!!

no but i just coppied mame32 and one rom to my desktop, result, same crash and reboot lookin more like GPU every time will do more test tommorrow.

I just tried running a game directly from mame32 (no gameex) and it crashed as game was loading, its a bit l8 tonight so ill try running a new mame instal tommorrow this could be the problem, thanks all.

you gave me an idea it was a clean gammex install but I copied all my mame folders from my old HD so ill try a clean mame32 install l8r thanks

My computer (cab) kept crashing radomly (sometimes powered on randomly too!) so I replaced the PSU and the HD (I had spares lying about) did a clean install XP SP3 and clean installed Gammex everything seems fine now Except the crashes aren't random they happen exactly as sooon as I try to play a mame game, no blue screen, no hanging, about 3 seconds after I hit "play game" it dies and reboots every time! I doubt its an os or gameex problem im guesing its a mainbboard or VGA card problem. Could anyone thew some options up in the air for me? Thanks in advance...

Ive never tried AVI snaps b4 and just went with png but i thought id give the avi snaps ago and i cant get them to run i just here a split sec of sound then nothing. They play in WMP but not gameex am i missing something obvious?? Thanks

I think i do ive got auto update and take every one. And theres been a lot in the last couple of weeks but still same problem, im not saying its a bug i dont have the know how to determine that,i just wondered if anyone else as encountered this cheers

Not sure if this is a bug or something ive misconfigured but i cant play some emulator games from my most played list.Speculator and gens seem to boot last played game and have to press back button on my cab to come out kinda wiered like but play fine from their own emu list, also this has been happening for couple weeks and ive done plenty gameex upgrades. cheers

After reinstaling Gameex i find i can access the Config app in "more games & progs" nor weather and maybe more that i can remeber all i got is Theme Picker, Statistics and Start Screensaver. Enable Config app is set to "yes" in the Config so i am bit confused but maybe im missing somthing obvious if any one can shed some light on the matter that would be gr8. Also can u mute ambience whilst radio is playing??? Cheers...

I know this is not a gammex ? but would appreciate some help. A while bak i sen a gr8 site with a lot of cool mame intro videos but after searching high and low i cant remeber what it was can anyone help cheers

I think i have cracked it i deleted my control ini files and all is ok now except i need to config the whole kaboul!! but maybe as i am ready to finaly finish my cab that is not a bad thing cheers

I think this happened before update to 8.17 but not 100% ive done so much uninstalling reinstaling today. Also forgot to mention escape stiil works and here is log log.txt

Hii recently hooked my ipac up to my cab with a temp CP and had no probs USB keyboard and USB ipac both worked no probs but today i have had a night mare my controls and keyboard work both with windows but not when gameex is running the only buttin that works is the windows button. (the USB wireless mouse works fine) I have tried reinstalling gammex and .net2 a few times but no luk the only joy i had was when i put gameex in a new DIR and the controls worked for 20 seconds then died, i have a hunch it started due to a MS auto update but not sure can anyone help me pls cheers
