Hi been a while but back at my cab... I took out the CRT as it had issues and went with a 27 inch LCD sat vertically, looks great ( I am not a purist) so the vertical games look great and the horizontal games are not to small or shabby Imo, so here's my dilemma, I went to try and load the GameEx top and bottom bezel for horizontal games, I renamed it to say "robotron.zip" and altered the lay file now when I load the game two things happen with bezel "on" in mame the bezel shows but I can't see the game although i can hear it 🤔 but with bezel "off" the game magically fills the entire screen and does not look ridiculous at all!! So I kind of fixed the issue in a way i didn't actually mean to, but i just want to know what i am doing wrong when the bezel is on and hides the game....

In 12 years using Gameex i never knew there was such a thing as an in game pause menu, but it did have me thinking there was some key signal being sent to activate it, then it struck me whilst moving my cab i had disconnected my N64 controller but not the USB adaptor (which was obviously sending spurious inputs to the PC) , reconnected the N64 controller and I am back in business!! Thanks Now wondering if I should upgrade to Gameex Evo

Also here is a couple of log files, one is from when it crashed, also I had Gameex updates off so I turned them on and updated but it persists in offering me an update when gameex re-launches. I upgraded the latest .Net framework update also but no help log2.txt log.txt

No was powered off for a couple of months but prior to that it was running great, also just crashed there strange GameEx.ini

Hi as the title suggests when i select a game it launches then goes back to snap screen with the option to resume game,also when I do press resume it goes straight back, unable to actually play any game, thinking its a small issue that I cant get my head around anyone?

Many thanks, I installed another soundcard for the Ambiance with a 4.1 creative set hooked up around my den, excellent effect using shanmans app! Constant ambience at an "ambient" level so real deal feel about the whole experience!

Sperate volume adjust for Arcade ambience?

Hi i'm all set it's great to be back, and my cab running fantastic (for now ) , just a couple of quick questions if anyone could help, 1. Can you adjust the volume of the Arcade Ambience music alone? I want a subtle ambience but regular video snap volume. ( I could always re-rip in a wav editor but if there's a simpler way i am missing I would be grateful. 2. I am using the Ambient Occlusion theme (love it, thanks Naborneo) and as you can see I can still see Home and Power icons, looked everywhere to remove but cant find if anyone could point me in the correct direction, 3. And finally as you can see in the same picture when i hover on a game title, a description dialog pops up, can i remove? I have show game information "true" for the short term as I want to add favorites, are they one of the same setting? Many thanks

No that 1027 was just one of the 6-8 pop ups it displayed i have a full rom set im sure, 58.6GB merged set (0.193) showing over 4000 games with all filters (casino adult clones etc), on so only working games showing, like I said it seems to be having no effect no turning it off on my game count so i will be leaving it off now. Thanks again

Out of curiosity what are the pros and cons of verify roms. What is it’s purpose?

OK so i tried turning verify roms off just to compare game count and it seems it is the same? but no popups so im good for now but the same windows were popping up in my test machine both running latest version of GE and Mameui by the mame team ( I couldn't compile a salad!!) version 0.193 and matching merged rom set, also i did notice when the verify was on and when I exited GE , mame had a "mame program stopped running" window so there is something in the verify switch that MameUI does not like but like I said i'm good for now a thousand thanks!

When I update my game list this window pops up about 6 times, it happens during the verify roms process which without I lose some games so i need it on. i need to win/tab to access the popups and "ok" them to resume the update and I get there in the end but its a pesky little thing i could do without.

ignore that ^ through a bit of googling i found that the online features was keeping it running in the background but don't want that, so turning off fixed it. Thanks again. Forgot how much gameex could frustrate and enthrall at the same time

Thanks, when you mentioned about the spaces in folder names i thought of something, my p64 folder was nested in another pointless N64 folder so i removed it and it ran perfectly, many thanks RD!! while i'm here just one more thing when i exit gameex it won't run again unless I kill the "gameexbackground" process in the task man, what is this? is it downloading plugins or something? Its is not present in my test (this) PC

ITs been a while and i'm a bit rusty but can someone suggest why my project64 not run in GE? runs fine in windows and have tried with and without quotes on exe path. Games are showing just returns back to game menu GameEx.ini

Update: I uninstalled Gameex but still got the same problem, then I remembered that Uninstall does not remove the data folders, so I did over and removed folders manually and we are up and running better than ever thanks for the help, the codecs will be handy also. Clearly copying data from old build was the entire problem!!! My bad!! Note i always need to turn bezel off in mame settings and attract mode or games wont launch or screensaver won't load, but that's not a problem just incase anyone else has same problem Thanks Again no doubt i'll be back with something equally daft my fault

Also i just came to mind I copied the data folder over from an old instal to bring gamelists etc across, i fear this was my undoing, a new install bekons

It would seem I have over 5000 Avi Snap video files but i have noticed some are in subfolders although mostly in the main path. Doubt that it is one offending AVI ( if it was it would be hard to single out) but when I scroll down the game list with snaps on thats when it crashes, will try a few things later like changing the folder name etc. I did notice once when I renamed the path in the config to avisnap_old it was still displaying the video snaps even though that folder is fake, it wasn't till I blanked out the path completely did it revert to png snaps! I wonder if they are cached somewhere by gameex??

Yes i'm pretty sure it is the video snaps now not sure how to resolve have restarted pc but same result, but when I take the path out the system runs fine. log2.txt

Actually I think it was crashing on game exit or on game select either way I took out the video snap path and have just run about a dozen games with out crash I also changed the theme from tron to a default theme and all good although i would like video snaps back at some point, i have to head to work at in 20 min soll see how er go from here, note I did not restart PC after that codecs install ( still haven't)

No joy played Smash TV for cpl minutes but but back on game select screen it died on me again maybe I should disable Video snaps and see what comes? Or maybe reinstall gameex?

no but i had a hunch it could be avi snap related as it mostly crashed on select game screen, i'll try this file. Thanks
