  1. Cool, thanks!
  2. Cool, thanks! Yep, no abuse here. I just want to be able to test settings on my computer before running it on my actual gaming system. Is there anything I need to do to transfer the license?
  3. I really hate to create a whole thread just for one simple question, I can't find an answer by searching. All I need to know is if I need to purchase another license to use GameEx on another machine? I don't mind either way, just curious. Thanks in advance!
  4. WOW, are you serious? I have a HDHomeRun too! This is fantastic news!
  5. Yeah, I do video editing on the side as a hobby, so h264 is definitely the way to go. I'll be sure to post if I whip up anything worthy. The community makes a lot of impressive stuff, I'm not sure I'll be able to compete!
  6. Ok, great! It won't be a long intro, just a simple fad in/out or a write-on effect. I'd much rather work in mpg2 or avi formats, so that's a relief.
  7. Hey U-man, thanks for all the info! I'll play around with the settings tonight. Just curious, can you do animated intros? Does it handle gifs or does it strictly have to be png?
  8. Hey guys, this should be a simple one. I searched, but either I missed the answer or I don't know how to word the question. I want to change the opening GameEx logo and sound, but I'm not sure how to go about that exactly. I know there's an image and sound bite it's calling somewhere within the theme folder, but I'm not sure of the location. Also, I'm not sure what are the parameters of the logo and sound, such as the file container, length, etc. Thanks in advance!
  9. Ok, thanks for all the info. I guess I'll just keep them all in one folder as they are now.
  10. Oh, yeah, that's what I'm trying to avoid. I want in the list a separate folder for all the imports. Is that possible?
  11. Ok, thanks. So will the separate folder show up in the list or will it combine all the ROMs into one list?
  12. Sorry to bandwagon on your post, but I'm interested in this too for when I build my cabinet. I'd like to have the same setup, 4 player layout, but have 2 players be the middle two controllers.
  13. Hey guys, I'd like to make a subfolder within my ROM folder for my imports and I was wondering if that was possible. Thanks in advance!
  14. This is...AWESOME. I'm gonna use the crap outta this program! Thanks!
  15. Yeah, I've had GoodSets for a while now, but I always used them as a pick and choose kind of list. However, once I built my NESPC, they became cumbersome and unwieldy. After learning about No-Intro, I can now see why the majority of the community uses them. As you said, it's much of a playable library instead of an archival library. I learn something new everyday. This place is great!
  16. So after some more reading and testing, I decided to ditch the GoodSets and use No-intros because the box art, snaps, and the like all use the same naming convention.
  17. Thanks for the input, but could you be a bit more descriptive . You said click the dropdown box "at the end of the line", but what line are you referring to? Then you tell me to check out emumovies, but check out what specifically? Do I use the download serfice utility or do I download databases directly?
  18. Ok, I'm just gonna lay it all out there, full disclosure: I know very little about GameEx and the ROM scene in general. Now that we have the painful disclaimer out of the way, let's get down to business. I'm trying to figure out the best route to add images, such as box art and title screens, to the previews of games. I understand that there's a particular folder set aside for each emulator that's labeled "box art" and "manuals" and so forth, but I don't understand how to populate those folders. I downloaded a screenshot zip from the main GameEx site to which I realized that the naming convention corresponded to the GoodSets nomenclature. That's all well and good, but what if you use a different set, like no-intro? Or if you're an idiot, like me, and scrubbed all the unwanted symbols and icons ([!], [h1], etc) out of names? Is there a way to scrub those out of the display name, but keep the original name intact? Also, what's up with this EmuMovies site? I just don't really understand it. How do I download things from them? I see there's a separate download service utility for EmuMovies, but do I need that to download box art databases from them? I apologize for the myriad of questions, but I just get a bit flustered when I search for answers and I come up dry. Trust me, I'm definitely not the kind of guy to start a thread without thoroughly exhausting the "search" button. Generally, my problem comes in the form of not knowing how to funnel down my question (as you can see in the long winded paragraph above), but I try and try until I find the right combination of words. However, in this situation, I feel as though I can't find a single, straightforward answer. So please, help a fellow game nerd out here. Throw me a bone, point me in the right direction, give me some words of wisdom, I humbly kneel at your feet.
  19. Music to my ears. Thanks nullPointer for understanding where I'm coming from and that I'm not some crazy, fringe computer user, haha. I'll definitely give the codec a shot when I get home tonight.
  20. Cool thanks! Originally I wrote a batch file to trigger certain events and have things load at different times, but if the "GameEx Launch" application is simplier, I'll definitely use that instead.
  21. Hey RageOn, thanks for the theme! I personally don't have any other issues with the theme, it was just that one instance that I wasn't sure how to resolve. I didn't particularly like that view, but I just wanted to see what was available. Once I saw I couldn't get out of the view, I panicked and came here posting a frenzy, haha. Thanks for speicifying the line within the .ini file. To Draco, I'll look into that particular codec. I come from a time and place where downloading and installing mysterious "all in one" codecs were a big no-no and ever since then I've feared them, haha. They usually lead to more issues than solutions. However, if most of the GameEx community supports it with no concern, then it sounds safe to me. Thanks again for everybody's help.
  22. Prior to updating my GameEx for the Steam integration, I had GameEx run on login. Now, Steam connects first, then nothing happens. GameEx will have launched, but it will be minimized. If I change the order, forcing GameEx to run first, then Steam, will Steam still connect? I tried this before (about a year ago) and Steam would never connect. Basically, anything that happened after GameEx launched never initialized. I had network drives that I would map to and if GameEx launched before the drives were mapped, the drives would be dead links. After 4 years of GameEx I'm just now starting to really dig into the settings and I'm trying to figure out the best way possible to go about things. So sorry in advance, but you're going to be seeing a lot of questions from me in the near future
  23. I checked that screen multiple times and I even checked after this post, but I still can't find it. You said it's in the latest build of the Setup Wizard, where can I get that? I recently just updated GameEx, so I would assume the Setup Wizard and all the other functions (I use the Advanced Configuration, personally) would update as well. The version of GameEx I had prior to updating was about a year old. I updated for the Steam integration, which is a beautiful addition by the way.
  24. Sorry Draco, I resolved the issue before I read your post. I chose another theme, which then gave me an icon for the "change view" option so I could change the view of the emulator list back to how it was originally. However, I still have a question about your solution. I went through the Setup Wizard several time, but never did I see an option to enable/disable "change view". Do you happen to know specifically where that change can be made? If not, I'll just assume that it's there and that I overlooked it. If something to this effect happens again, I'll try deleting the cache files and see what happens. Thanks for the response and help!
  25. Ok, I can't figure this thing out. Is there a way to return all of GameEx back to the default theme? I want not just the main menu, but the emulator menus too to return to normal. After that, I'll make sure to never click on "change views" again.
