I'm using MAME32 Plus. It worked best with my system and offers all the additional options like viewing command lists for fighting games and certain cheats for other games. I suggest you list your hardware so that people could make better suggestions.

Where is the option Tom? I have yet to see it.. -
Check the settings in the configuration app. I forget where or which one, but I remember that you can turn the controls on and off.

Yeah, an option for create missing snaps would be perfect. -

This is a simple request, but can you make it so that you can just create a snapshot for a single game instead of a whole list. Some emulators do not output the screenshot in the exact filename or in the shots directory, so I would rather use your tool. It would be easy to fill in those few games where I don't have screenshots while not having to do the entire list. -
Anyone know a good way to automate gameex to reload if it crashes? When I have other people playing, I want to make it very simple and stable for them. Every now and then, it will crash. Maybe an option in the config like "Reload if crash" and "Don't show log file on crash". I know the program detects the errors and exits accordingly because it pulls up the log file. The solution does not even have to be programmed into gameex, I just want to see if someone knows a way to have it reload. Is it safe to have a program running that will detect the gameex process and if it ends, then call gameex.exe again? Also, I imagine I could use windows scripting to do this by having it call gameex and then waiting for the process to end while being in a loop that will just call gamex and wait again... Anyway, suggestions welcome...

It happened a couple of days in a row and then it just stopped. Now it loads fine. I think if I make it such that there is like a 2 second pause before it loads so the other boot items have time to finish, i wont have this problem again. Anyone know how to pause in the XP scripting language so I can make a .bat and run it instead?

I have GameEx set to load on system startup in xp. The shortcut is in the startup folder. Though with this newest release, it crashes every time. I can load it up afterwards just fine though. Yes, that box layout is nice. Unfortunately, my CP was premade by slikstik. I love it though. My question is: What is the best buttons to map to the top row to give it the most functionality in both GAMEEX and MAME? The buttons each are assigned a key and each can have a shifted key as well (besides the shift key itself). Follow me?

Hey guys. I'm just looking for some opinions and help organizing my control panel. I am definitely using GAMEEX for the front end and am mainly using MAME for all arcade games though I am eventually going to have Nintendo and Sega consoles emulated on there too. I have linked a picture of the control panel and also a picture for the concept graphic that will be on the bezel for control panel usage instructions. I would like to know some opinions on which buttons should do what to be most compatible with both GAMEEX and MAME for easy navigation. ALL opinions welcome! I would have posted this on arcadecontrols.com but I thought the gameex specific crowd would have better insight for me. Control Panel Layout: And from the side so you can see the side buttons Graphic Concept for bezel so that people know what buttons to push: This is ONLY a concept, it will not be the graphic I use for it! I will eventually make it much nicer looking.. I thought the "page up" and "page down" buttons would be useful in scrolling through the massive game lists. Start I is always a shift button, not sure about where to put the other shift button though... Shifted keys ideas (have IPAC4): "SELECT" when shifted = "TAB" (For in MAME menu) "BACK" when shifted = "F3" (for MAME reset) Not sure about the other ones.. Any thoughts/ideas?

I have an external app that is not recognized by gameex. It is the creative mediasource player and I have gameex calling it fine, but it just goes back to the menu screen instead of waiting for the app to close. I go to my open processes and the app executable is still running. Not sure why this is happening...

Tom, I sense a little frustration due to some of the ideas being put forth about opening the project up and everything along those lines. I just want you to remember that it is only because you had such a revolutionary idea that others naturally want to be a part of it, especially the people who are interested in emulation. Also, many of the people in this community are used to the concept of open source software especially with emulation. It is very popular among this crowd and I am sure there are many technical people here that see such potential in YOUR idea. They do not want to re-invent what you have already accomplished and copy your idea, rather, following the open source tradition, they simply want to help. I have a suggestion that I think would work out very well. Firstly, I think this project is YOUR baby and no one elses, and if you feel strongly about this, you should not give it up for others to create other versions of it at their own will. Rather, you should be the master and commander of this software project. Putting all the pieces together yourself, but delegating tasks to others. Open up a repository for others to enhance or build a SPECIFIC part of the application. When those modules are completed, you can integrate it yourself. Or, ask others to research a specific topic and report their findings back to you so that you don't have to do all the leg work yourself (for example, how to best port it to Linux or some other programming technique or best practice). We will be your drones, your "Software Engineering Programming Team" while you are the Manager and Architect of that team. In this scenario, if there is something that will be tedious for you to do and you would rather spend your time on something else, you can simply delegate that task to a few others that are part of your team. Hell, you can even ask for resumes and hold interviews! The setup time to create this is well worth it and will not be too tedious. The benefits greatly outweight the time to set it up and manage it. I hope this has been a good insight as I would love to see your program grow to its potential. I believe that you should find a way to recruit other great thinkers to help you reach that goal.

It would be awesome if we had control over the jukebox playlists. Just the ability to view and pick which song from your playlist you want to hear instead of skipping through every track before it and not knowing how many tracks there are to go. I was thinking about using a jukebox software, but if it had this feature, I would not even think twice. Thanks for listening. -
I am having problems with the jukebox controlling the music. I do not have any controls to skip songs in the juke box. I have the setting set so to show the controls in the configuration. Also, I have a Niveus Media Remote and its media buttons do not get detected. They work with windows media player just fine though. Anyone have a clue as to why I cannot control the jukebox?

You can take gameex out of fullscreen by clicking the top right button with the double windows. You can minimize it from there... -

I find the Jukebox a bit unfriendly actually. I would like to view the current playlist. I would like to be able to view all the songs that are selected in the playlist so I can remove them or reorder them or whatnot. Also, a quick way to turn on and off the shuffle feature from the jukebox would be great. Thanks PS. Awesome work on the latest releases. -

Does gameex already select the most compatible working rom if there are multiple? How does it choose which rom to play? -
Hey Tom, my thoughts on the saves section are to have the program enumerate the saves in the states folder and show them in a list. Then the player can choose which save they want to load for whatever game to continue their game. As the current list does, it can show a screenshot of the game and an icon. With thousands of mame games, it is hard to remember all the saves you have, especially if your on an arcade cabinet and want to check out your save games without having to use a keyboard and mouse. It does not have to be anything big, just a list of save games from a particular folder and their screenshots/relative information. We can even go as far as having one saves folder per emulator so that you can look at all your saves from other systems in separate lists. Are you following what i'm thinking?

I have not found an easy way to manage my MAME saved games/states. I think it would be an incredible feature if you (Tom) could create a section that manages/reads MAME saved games and loads them for you on request (using "-state" option I guess). Is this possible? Is there an easy way of loading game states that I don't know about? I am guessing that it would be a bit of a bitch to do it for every emulator, but were focusing on MAME here! Maybe i'll just write a program that I can link to externally from GameEx and have it call MAME with the right options... If so, is anyone interested in developing it with me? We can make it open source and give the code to Tom for him to implement if he doesnt have time to do it. Anyone have any solutions or opinions? BTW, Great job on the program bro, its awesome.

Your the KING! Site looks very good. I like the QA ALOT. Maybe post a link to it on the main page... 1 Q for you, can we install new versions over the old versions or do we have to remove first?
