I am running a registered version. I bought my full featured gameex last year. The reason I got the nag screen was the one guy had me install 13.20 as an attempt to fix it while my registration is only good through 13.18 So I reinstalled 13.18 and everything works except it still hangs at startup for about 20 minuets before it starts. Thats my problem.
-
well tom gave my my old version back and it did the trick. all my stuff was where it was supposed to be. Still Gameex takes 20 minuets to load. Very strange.
-
Searched Gameex.exe and there was only one instance of it so It did install over my previous version, ditton for .ini I only have one reg key, but I think because I only subcribed for one year of updates thats why it isnt working. Is there a way I can roll back the install or something?
-
Well event viewer didnt give me any info but I found that if I launch gameex and after the nag screen counts down to 1 if I let it sit for 20-30 minuets gameex eventually launches with the nag screen running in the background. Unfortunately it appears all my hard work and customizations are gone as all my custom menus are gone and none of my emulators show up. Why it hangs for 30 minuets then launches I dont know. Found my old gameex key and installed it again but it didnt work. I hope I can salvage this. I cant even began to remember how to set up half the stuff I had set up.
-
Thank you. I will get in contact with him. But first and foremost I need to find out why Gameex is hanging on startup. Im currently looking through my event viewer for clues.

log.txtdisabled groups. Same deal. New log file attached Thanks again for looking into this for me. My cab is a big deal for me. I spend allot of countless hours working on it and have dumped thousands into it trying to make it the perfect retro gaming machine.

IE a png file launches on certian arcade games explaining that they need to be launched externally. Thats all my emulator group is. A windows filler slot launching png's
-
I think I can figure out my emulator groups. I combined mame with a windows slot used to launch shortcuts for arcade games I dont have emulated on my pc because I use external hardware to run them but wanted to keep them in my arcade game list. I dont think thats the case though because ive had that group for weeks.

Ill take any ideas at this point. How do I do that? Also perhaps related but launching Gameex still makes my windows start menu icon disappear. Everything else with the OS runs as normal though, and even though its gone I can still access my start menu by clicking where its supposed to be.
-
Installed gameex 13.20. It looks like I lost my registered features. log.txtThe nag screen counts down to one and then...same thing. Program freezes. Shit. Everything else on my computer works fine. The emulaters work fine. Just gameex refuses to work Uploaded is my new log file as requested.

Thanks for the reply. Question though. I payed for a registered version of gameex. If I download a new version how do I let it know I am a registered user? Its been so long that I dont even remember how I activated it. And will I have to manually set everything up again? Do I got to uninstall my current install of gamex first? Man I can feel myself getting arthritis already...lol

Hey alll I am having problems with gameex after doing a virus scan and I really dont wont to start from scratch Its in my arcade cab and Ive literally spent years tuning it and getting everything to work right. But after removing a few malware programs and some pups (none of which seemed linked to gameex. Gameex refuses to start. It boots, goes to a black screen, and when I open task manager it says "Not Responding". It also seems to take out parts of explorer.exe after launching gameex, as I loose my desktop background, all icons on my desktop, and the icon for the start bar. (the start bar still functions) When I close explorer.exe after this it does not automatically come back and I got to relaunch it from a new task in task manager. Im freaked out because Ive put endless hours of work into this arcade project and not sure what to do. Attached is my log.txtlog.txt Thanks for any help.

Hey folks! Was searching for an answer for this and came up shy. Seems Hideos.exe blocks out some doesgames I am launching using the old shortcut as roms trick and I have to manually hit ctrl+alt+del to close Hideos.exe in order for my game to show up and not just have a black screen. In display settings I have hide desktop to no, and in the emulator I have show desktop selected yet Hideos.exe still launches. Am I missing something? If this has already been discussed and I just cant seem to find the topic id be happy if you could post a link. Thanks!!!

Sup dudes! Been gone for awhile due to Christmas Vacation and then coming down with the worst case of pneumonia I think ive ever had. Seems everyones dropping like flies up here. Anyway as the topic says, Im trying to figure this out and I just cant seem to get it. Ive got a few awesome slot machine collections, IGT Lobstermania and some Hoyle collections and gamex just seems to hate these titles when I try to launch them as applications from gameex my screen just goes blank for a sec and returns me to gameex. Ive gotten many other apps to launch using the external application option but not these guys and im dying to add them to my cab. At first i tried launching them via steam and had problems and then just thought "dangit if im gonna do this im gonna do this right." and decided I did not want to compromise and deal with Steam I want them to launch directly with gamex. So here I am, pulling my hair out again. I looked through my older posts on this subject and have been searching the boards and I know you can set them to launch like an emulator and that seems to work for most people but im just too dense to figure it out, and none of the posts dumb it down enough for me to understand. I mean I know I need to create a blank emulator slot, put all the icons for the apps in a rom folder, point it to that, set the rom filter to *.lnk (is the astrix supposed to be there?) and then add [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] in command line (do I type that verbatim or are rompath romfile just placeholders and I need to add the actual path in the spots? Do I need to do it for each game?) I donno. I just really need someone to hold my hand and walk me through this one thing as its driving me nuts. If I could get my casino games to work id be set. Any help would be super awesome man.

Hello sorry for the late response ive been super busy with christmas and all and I just got my cabinet and ive been busy playing around with that. I deleted the 45760.flv and the issue is still present. I also have an issue where if I I que a few songs in the jukebox and start navigating my menues everything locks up and I get a BSOD with a kernel inpage error but if I let the machine site for a bit before navigating it appears fine, but I dont think those are related. I tried reinstalling steam and that didnt help either. Any other suggestions?

Attached here are the error log and my Directx Diag for you all. Its all greek to me mostly but maybe one of you gurus can make sense of it for me. Thanks! DxDiag.txt gameex error log.txt

Well I finally thought I had it all figured out but looks like I got another challenge on my hands. Now steam and gameex are not playing well together anymore. Two of my games "castle crashers and IGT slots" will launch through gameex and after about a minuet, will go back into gameex. The funny thing is gameex manages to close steam during this time but the game itself remains open. My third steam game Super Street Fighter IV Arcade addition, crashes gameex completely after first launching with a direct x type error in the gameeex log. All these games worked in gameex before, and all these games run fine when I just have steam running by itself. It seems to be the the same error that occurred in the log when I tried to have music autoplay from my jukebox during startup. My directx version and video card are up to date. (direct x 11) and I made no changes to that between the time it did work and the time its crashing....actually this crashing started almost at random as I have not made any changes to gameex between the time it was working fine and the time it started happening. So confused. :/

I already check there, but thanks for the suggestion. I have figured out how to rig my arcade stick up to navigate well without the mouse so I think I am happy with that and will drop the mouse issue. I am having another issue but I am making a new post for that so people dont have to scroll down a billion messages.

Hello! Well after doing some experimenting I figured out what it was that was causing Gamex to crash!! One thing I noticed is that it seemed to crash on bootup. So I started to look at things I might have changed that would complicate gameexes standard boot procedure. What I discovered was that I had selected play music/radio on start up,and that, trying to load while at the same time loading my intro video caused gameex to basically crash. I turned off the play on start up option and it fixed it! Im not sure if this was due to my computer or perhaps a bug that needs fixing. Would someone else care to verify? Anyways that solved that... Correct, I am using the xarcade tankstick w/ trackball. Ive used both the tankstick mouse and the integrated mouse at the same time in gameex before with no issue. I actually was using both in gameex for a couple of days before my mouse and toolbar decided to go bye bye.I mean I can still scroll with The trackball and mouse pad its just the it wont leave the main list and there is no curser. The computer I am using to make my cab is actually a Acer laptop with a touch pad mouse. Ive had a wireless usb mouse on here, and ive had my tankstick but never both at the same time. They both installed kinda did their plug and play thing but no real software program just a basic recognition driver I think. The issue occurred later though. Its like I had the tankstick going, and I still had my mouse and toolbar in gameex and then like one day it just disappeared. Its like it didn't coincide with adding any hardware devices just, had everything working then it just was gone one day after I exited playing a rom I believe. Thanks for the links too btw tempest, im looking through them now. Well at least I know the dx crash and the no mouse/toolbar issue are not related.

On a perhaps related note: Right about the time my mouse and tool bar failed to show up in gameex (even though both are selected in setup wizard) I started seeing an error message upon exiting gameex. I also noticed my intro video started looking glichie (which it did not look before) kinda faiding in and out. The only changes I made graphically was I tested out both the 3d menu transitions and the display image video list under display settings in the setup wizard which I set back. I also returned all video and input settings back to default hoping to resolve it but no help. Its like gameex worked, I changed those things, it looked messed up, I changed it back, and it still is messed up. :/ Maybe I corrupted some sort of setting file with all my experimenting. Perhaps I need to reinstall gameex? If I reinstall will it mess everything up more? gameex errors.txt

lol dont worry my mouth is zipped. Even the greats make mistakes. Once again you where spot on Dazzel. I went and bought my self a game on steam and low and behold the program launched! Just had to make some adjustments to IGT slots and that worked as well! Now the only thing that remains is trying to figure out why my mouse and toolbar disappeared :/ Any chance you gentlemen might know the cause? If I can figure that out, and figure out how to combine my two mame programs (which I will start on tomorrow night, and I hope to figure out on my own) I will have all the hiccups (hopefully) on the software side figured out just in time for my cabinet to arrive!!

Hmmmm, well checked the Item/Menu Properties for steam in custom menus and it is grayed out and unselectable. And my mouse is still awol. :/ Anyway as asked here is my custominput.ini file (I hope this is the right one) Let me know what you think. Thanks! http://www.mediafire.com/?au5rb6ak6tpj155

Also I decided to go the steam route with IGT Slots just because I figure it would be easier but....I downloaded steam, set it up, got IGT slots in there and can launch it from steam, set up steam in the wizard, and maybe Its because of the custome menues, but I go into custom menues make a menue for steam, set it to steam as an item type, but when I go into gameex steam is dark blue and wont launch just like it was not enabled. :/ Perhaps im missing some simple step and It just isnt dawning on me due to it being so late at night, but im totally confused. lol If anyone can figure out what im doing wrong and let me know that would be awesome. Thanks!!
