If you havn't checked out Mugen, now is the time :) If you don't know what Mugen is, it's a homebrew 2d fighter engine that many people have made characters for. You can do a search on youtube to find many videos of the game in action. If your a Street Fighter fan, you will love this!

This is nice pack with the following characters

I have no idea if this is the best Mugen pack, but it's fairly recent and I enjoyed what I played.

You can download the torrent from here (1.7 Gig)

That looks awesome... I'm a big fan of the Kenshin (Samurai X) anime series, and was so disappointed when the PSX fighting game for it sucked... Do you know if the torrent included information on how to create your own characters? I'll have to look into this for sure...

lookup mugen infantry. For new stages and characters.

Torrents are usually frown upon by the community because the autors to the charters didnt give permission to include thier work in these releases.

And it takes away from them getting hits on their websites aand proper credits...

Ive you are interested in MUGEN and want a bunch of charcters and stages download Evertything Vs Everything.

And get the Capcom Evo screenpack. Its great

There are also mugen clones like

shudendo (probably mispelled)

and Infinitycat

Mugen suffers from ramdom crashes on XP but apperantly works great on 98.

It is a nice program.

I'm getting an idea for HK's next application! A MUGEN configurator! Just have the folders setup, and run the app to have it scan the folders for characters, stages, etc.. and it automatically creates the proper ini's for you!

Hey, I can dream...

Hi I downloaded this torrent, but 7-zip won't extract it, saying it has broken files. Did anyone else have this problem and figure out how to get around it?

I had no problem with it. Maybe you need to add the torrent again and point it to your already downloaded file. It should then check the integrity and download any damaged parts.

Hmm, looks like that may be it. I reloaded the torrent and now it says only 85% and started downloaded again. Hope this works, thanks.

Well in the spirit of MUGEN id say yes. Only because MUGEN is fan made with sprite rips and scripts. Not to mention Elecbyte is not supporting it anymore.

But really its a fine line. Please no roms etc... We really tend to walk the straight and narrow here on the forum.. If there anyone has a problem Ill pull it. But since its in a thread where one is already linked to Id say go for it.

Glad you enjoy gameex.

hmm well art assets actually carry the same penalty as binary files...artwork is also copyright material...now likeness of...is the gray area...but actual assets...isn't in the gray at all.

My logo's...generally will end up with my ass sued as they are only faintly in the gray area...that said most companies will not sue because of use of their logo unless it in some manner devalues the company...

So take that chatter as you will. :)

Thanks all! I needed an excuse to get MUGEN going on my cab and this was it. Fantastic fun!

Headkaze's torrent link is gone but I snagged the 1up Mugen pack and it was a blast so thanks JCGamer. I really like the music, the kung-fu fighting remix is cool and the 'Confukulations' message cracked me up. Really well done.

Thanks to Brian for Mugen Infantry, grabbed some characters from there as well.

Thanks for the Mugen set! I've been wanting to try it, but it looked like a lot of work to get the different sets installed, so I wussed out. This is exactly what I wanted to have and it's already to go!

One question...where do you set the controls in Mugen? I assume it's an ini file, but I haven't dug into it yet. Thanks!

Posted
:P well I am still a noob when come to game ex and I want to learn more of this great softwore but the control setup is in the mugen options are tricky. see I am not using a arcade joystick on my game ex but a pc game pad just have to go inside the joystick config inside the mugen game options and press enter do your up,down, left, right, here the tricky part the A is quick kick, B is medium kick, C is Hich Kick, and for your punch X is quick punch, Y is your medium punch ,and X is your hard punch, and your START well you know your start button. Also dont forget to save it on your mugen options also it depend on the character as well some mugen characters are 6 button and other characters are 4 buttons just have to play with them to get use too. I hope this will help you out and I hope thing will work well for you on your setting

Cool, I figured it out. I didn't scroll down from the main menu when I was playing with it really quick, so I didn't see there were a bunch of options beyond versus and arcade. Anyway, I tried to set it up with my GP-Wiz for P1 and P2 controls, but Mugen only likes so many joystick buttons (16 I think), so that won't work. I set up a XPadder profile and used the default Mugen controls. Works fine...as long as you disable joystick in Mugen as well.

Thanks!

Now I just need to figure out how to set up the characters I want and the right difficulty. The level it was set at with JCGamers' settings was kicking my ASS!!!!!

Was kicking mine too. Difficulty is under the options menu also, first screen. Surprisingly I think it was only set to 3 though. Maybe we just suck.

Probably

Actually, found a mode I can win! I somehow got into a practice mode where the enemy moved but didn't fight back. I TOTALLY kicked ass in that one!

The funny thing is that apparently it's been a while since I set up a single PC game cause it loads fine, but then when it returns, it goes to a listing of the files in the Mugen dir. I'll have to look around at some of Nologic's setups to see what I did wrong.

Yea Mugen has a practice mode.. You can change the text in the system.def if it calls it somthing else.

For my mugen config I create a file in the mugen directory called GAME NAME.XXX

then I set my romfilter to *.xxx so in gameex I see GAME NAME

for command I have WINMUGEN.exe or what ever its called.

 well for are mugen we did add a training mode for that  well at least work :P we try to fix some of the bug to this mugen. We also had are share of problems and we try do are best to fix them. mugen still 85%working order and

never in the right order :( that why we r going to are limit to do are best to make mugen in 100% no more skips and muted stages or any type problem, we come across ;) to this day there so many mugen makers and screnpack makers and etc. dont care about the winmugen or how it acts and the software is still out dated and a hack type aka home brew. But still its great mugen fun  once agian Thank you ;)

I have everything working for MUGEN except for one thing. In GameEx, I have MUGEN setup as an emulator with the command line and path pointing to the executable. I have it set as "Treat as 1 PC game" and "Don't display detail page" (or whatever the phrase is). When I launch, everything seems fine. The problem is that when I quit, it goes back to the MUGEN details page with only MUGEN as an item in the list. I can launch back into MUGEN, but I can't get back to the main menu by pressing the back button or the combo home button press (select + back as I recall). I can hit escape on the keyboard and it works fine, but I don't want to go to this menu either way. SO, what setting am I missing. If it's needed, I can grab my emulator setup if someone who has theirs working could take a look. Or, maybe someone that has it running could just up their emulator config and I could take a look compared to what I have. Thanks!
