Brian Hoffman Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Ok guys for those of you that have been following this is the ....Hoffmame: Sexual Choclate Edition Please note this is only a patch for the official Mame binary/Executeable.Please grab the latest version of mame from the mame hompeage.http://mamedev.org/release.htmlThis patch only removes those (unwanted?) messages before game loading and per popular request Im adding support for hiscore.dat (This gets installed in the same directory as mame) Also you need to create a folder called "HI" in the mame directory. The HiScore.diff is created and maintained by MKChamp. Hats off to you This patch (as well as all others) is released AS-IS meaning I will not be changing it nor supporting it.. Neither will mame dev.. So please don't goto their forum and ask why the hoffmame patch isnt doing *****. They wont know what your talking about With that behind us.. Unzip the patch and put all files in the mame folder and run the apply patch.batNOTE:The patch does actually remap some keys, namely:KEYCODE_TAB - will bring up the menu but also pause the game.KEYCODE_1 - UI Select (instead of enter)Also by default the crosshair is off..Press F1 to bring back***Sorry guys I removed the patch till I get word from mame dev...***Happy Gaming.Brian Hoffman

headkaze Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Nice one Brian 500K thats more like it! 7 MB patch just didn't seem right.BTW That direct link to download the binary doesn't work (no hot linking), so I would just give a link to the download page instead.

bkenobi Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 How hard is this patch to develop? I would really like to patch MAME Plus!, but I haven't really looked into this much. Actually, I should try 119 first to make sure I even like the update. I might have to wait another version or so if the updates don't work well for me...

Do a search for mame 117 patch.. Headkaze wrote this and you will see my posts picking his brain..(Full credit goes to HK for teaching me)Also Google Mr DO complie.. Lots of great info.. I also use mame plus..What version do you Run...Also Id recommend compilng the 119u1... It plays killerinstinct great now.. At least on my pc... Ive been using older builds to emulate at full speed.. Now I dont have to
bkenobi Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I just d/l'ed 119 last night but it was corrupt (redownloaded several times and still corrupt), so I tried 119u1. Works great so far. Do you already have a patch for MAME Plus! 119u1?That was the first time I tried the new CPSIII engine...I LOVE IT! I can't beleive how smooth it plays (compared to normal MAME with zinc and model2 titles). Only thing I didn't expect was the 20 minute wait for it to load the cd the first time.

bkenobi Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I don't usually use U releases since they are usually more buggy. If vanilla 119u1 is running ok, I can get that one too. I just grabbed 119 last night.
pinballjim Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I don't know what you did, but crosshairs seem to be disabled by default as well.THANK YOU.
Brian Hoffman Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 I don't know what you did, but crosshairs seem to be disabled by default as well.THANK YOU.Your very welcome.Since you bring up the crosshairs I asssume you use a lightgun?!? Would you mind putting together a tutorial on how to get lightguns to work in new mame. Alot of people have these guns and are having issues.ThanksBrian Hoffman

This is for games like Terminator 2 that already display crosshairs on the screen (they're not true lightgun games). Before your patch, I was getting MAME's crosshairs overlayed onto T2's.Normally, you have to press F1 to make the MAME ones go away. There is no command line option to disable this. An -extreme- annoyance.

Brian Hoffman Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Glad you liked the patch too... ;-)Wow its MKchamp You are the man...
Brian Hoffman Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Loads of Credit goes to Mkchamp for the hiscore.diff that includes these enhancements.
Brian Hoffman Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Post taken from.http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=71706.0Re: Default crosshairs to off?« Reply #3 on: Today at 01:14:33 PM » Actually, he took the hiscore diff that was posted here and made the bat file with it. Read the sticky...turning them off WAS on purpose. Along with the nag screens, and menu change.---------I never knew you also included the nag removal.. Ive been editing the UI.C manually.Who da thunk it.
bkenobi Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Cool! I've been wondering about crosshairs for a while too! There is a way to disable them, but it completely removes them. If you change the crosshair overlay file (cross1.png for P1 as I recall) to a transparent alpha channel, it's supposed to eliminate them. Thing is, some people like them, so I have to keep them around. This will be really nice!
headkaze Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 pinballjim has gone and posted the patch on the BYOAC forums.http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=71708.0
