That mame.exe is in the MingGW folder you created for the MAME source code. If not you maybe misstepped somewhere.

The benefits outweigh the cons, since GameEx takes full advantage of this patch. You can even view your hi scores from the game list. It's worth it my friend!

Push comes to shove, I'll just upload the 142 exe for you if you like.

Adultery - If you could upload the 142.exe that would be great! For some reason, its not showing up in my MingGW folder after I compile. I've tried it three times now. Other than that, I've gotten everything else straightened out.

I could be wrong but I thought it was suggested that we don't share compiled versions of MAME? Also would benefit the user more to compile on their own when there is an update.

Are you receiving any errors during compile? Did you follow the instructions off of headkaze's website? What are the contents of your MinGW\source directory?

NOTE: If you're compiling MAMEUI, the process is a bit different. I'll post alternate instructions if that's the version of MAME you use.

This is the version I use, were you going to post instructions for UI users?

Sure. I'll add these steps when I get home. Headkaze's site has a set of instructions too if you can't wait that long. ;)

Ive tried his but, it returned with errors. There is hurry, my MAME runs fine as it is.

Ok bro! I'll pump it out when I get back home then. :)

I'm not receiving any errors when I compile. I didn't follow the instructions on headkaze's website; I followed the instructions that Adultery provided earlier in this post. My MinGW\source directory contains a folder called MAME0142 which contains:

docs (folder), hash (folder), obj (folder), src (folder), makefile (file), mame (application), mame142c (Zip), whatsnew (txt)

mame (application) as in mame.exe? If so then that's your compiled version of mame. That's the file you need to copy over to your mame directory and run that in GameEx.

Right, I copied it over to C:Mame and when I ran GamEx I could tell that something ahppened; it was reloading all of my roms. However, nothing has changed in GameEx. It all works fine but the same as it was a week asgo - no high scores.

OK, so let's get started!

1. Download the Mame Compiler from Headkaze's web site here. Install it to your computer.

2. Create a folder inside MingGW's directory named after your MAME version. For this we'll assume that it's MAME 0.142. So your directory will look like this:

C:/MingGW/Source/MAME0142

damn I feel dumb today.

I installed the Mame compiler64.exe but there is no such instance of

C:/MingGW/Source/MAME0142

anywere on my machine.

Do I manually make these directories?

These should have been created with the install. There are files in there which are required to compile MAME. Perhaps you installed to a different directory?
