Trouble with display settings

I am new to game ex and mame. Just installed game ex on my cabinet and it is working great. However, I cannot seem to get the snapshot to show in the lower left corner when each game is hightlighted. Also, at the top of the menu, the only choices are view controls and play game. It does not list flyer, marquee, cabinet, etc. I would really like to get the display similar to the "donkey kong" image on the screens page on the website. I know that I have the snaps, marquees, etc. because I can see them when I use Mame 32 and I have set all the paths to the correct folders. I am thinking that it must be in the configuration, but I cannot figure out what to change. Any help?

Make sure your artwork is not in ZIPS, but extracted. ZIP support was removed some time back.

Do I need to extract the files in the snaps, cabinets, marquees, flyers, icons, and artwork files?
