I have a problem with GameEX not responding to any key board or control panel movements or buttons after exiting Visual Pinball (9.12) with UltraVPServer running active backglass.

It does not happen every time but does happen frequently. The only way I can get out is Ctrl-Alt-Del and end it.

MAME,Daphne and others work with no problems, just pinball has this issue.

Can any one help?

Hmmmmmm. Don't use this so could be a number of things. My first thought would be maybe GameEx isn't closing the emulator cleanly. I would troubleshoot this issue by creating an advanced config and for it to send the correct keys to exit this emulator and see if it is still duplicated. If not then hopefully someone with experience with this will comment.

You know that you may have something about the EMU not closing cleanly.

Correct me if if I am wrong on this. The newest VP version I can not run in 32bit mode due to driver issues with ATI (hopefully will be worked out soon)so I have to run the tables in 16bit.

When I close the EMU there is a pause or blink on the screen before I am back to my desktop. Would this be the problem causing the issues I have from time to time in GameEX?

Possibly. That's why I would troubleshoot the way I suggested. It's hard to say exactly since I don't have your exact setup (emulator and hardware).

I got to finally play with this some more and did troubleshoot in the advanced config. as per fRequEnCy said but to no luck.

I have tried a few ways to tell VP to close, and for the most part it does but I still get the problem where I have no controls once back in GameEX on every setup I tried.

The only thing I found that would work when this happens is the listing of tables by pressing a letter,(A) brings up tables that start with (A)and so on.

But that is the only thing I can do.

Any suggestions?

I had a problem with VP9.11 and found by running it in compatability mode xp sp3 it worked a lot better as it woul'nd work in 64 bit mode, maybe you could try using a comp mode, not sure if it`ll work and no guarantees but its worth a shot.

I found a setting GameEX seems to like.

I changed the VP compatability mode to run as window's NT 4.0,disabled visual themes, and turned off advanced text services.

I just ran threw and started about 24 tables and played a couple, and now problems. SWEET!!

Thanks for the tip, it indeed helped.

Oh yea, this can be considered [RESOLVED]

Thanks again
