I'm new to Gameex and to MAME in general. I actually stumbled across Gameex while watching a custom built MAME cabinet on youtube. I read the FAQ's but didn't see anything in regards to this or maybe it was there but I just didn't understand the lingo. Anyways, here's my question. The guy in the youtube video running Gameex on his system had images of the game and a video playing of the rom when he selected them. I see that in the main screen of gameex there's videos that play but his where actually of the current rom he was on along with a video of the game. I hope you understand what i'm asking. Basically when he when to say his Nintendo NES emulator it would list all his NES roms. When he would go to one of those NES roms it would give a picture of basically the name of the game on the upper left along with a preview/video of the game running below the game art on the lower left. There was also a game description which I do see when I open up Gameex and go into a rom. Does anyone know how to do this? I've tried googling it but I guess i'm not asking the right thing because all I seem to find is actual game roms which is not what I'm looking for. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks

Hello! Welcome to our forums! The images are provided from EmuMovies. There's an application included with GameEx that downloads the images based on your images. A subscription to EmuMovies is recommended as you'll have access to more content. As far as the descriptions, they are included in the databases also included with GameEx. They are contributed by our members.

The videos you download from emumovies are placed in the snap draw of the emulator you are running, the snap name must be the same as the rom so for example if you have frogger for the psx then in the psx emulator section your entry would be

F:\GameEx\EMULATORS\psx\snap or whatever your path is

in there you can have a png called frogger.png and frogger.avi so when you highlight the frogger game the picture will appear and the video will play.

Hope that answers your question.
