I'm hoping someone can help me with my curious problem

I'm having trouble getting sound from my MAME games when using GameEX,

even though I have MAME audio mode in the config settings set to pause playlist and run MAME with sound.

I get music on the menu page, but when I select a game to play, the music

fades (as it should) and the game starts. However, the game has no sound.

Please advise!
