celly Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Since i got a new rig it has opened up more options for emulation. I decided to try out the radikal bikers emulator and all is well. The loader that Tempest wrote works fine and like it should but my advanced emulator control config doesn't work. I've remapped the key (not entirely a huge change then that of the emu) and saved it, then in the Advanced Configuration for the emulator I've directed gameEx to the .ini I created. I load up the game inside GameEx, loads fine but controls don't work. Only standalone emulator controls work. Here is my advanced config for controls - Radikal.txt(had to copy the actual .ini to a notepad as it said I couldn't upload that file type)
celly Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 Still no joy. Does anyone even use this emulator for Radikal Bikers?
fRequEnCy Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Still no joy. Does anyone even use this emulator for Radikal Bikers?I've tried it once but I never setup controls. Perhaps this emulator doesn't allow remapping. Not sure. I'll do some testing tomorrow and we'll figure it out.
GeorgeT Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I've tried it, runs kinda slow on my cabinet and yeah...i could never figure out the controls
celly Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 Thanks again frequency. RB isn't quite up to speed in MAME. Otherwise I would have skipped using this emu.

I tested and can confirm that the keys don't work within the emulator. They are remapped as I did try them in notepad when the emulator was running. So this emulator doesn't accept GameEx's remapping. I guess next solution would be to try a 3rd party application like Xpadder as suggested by Adultery.
celly Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Can you get around this problem using Xpadder?I'll give Xpadder a shot and report back. Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. celly Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Can you get around this problem using Xpadder?OK, yeah I might need some help with Xpadder. It's not seeing my controls, only my Wiimote and Xbox 360 remote. How do you make it see usb X-Arcade?
fRequEnCy Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 OK, yeah I might need some help with Xpadder. It's not seeing my controls, only my Wiimote and Xbox 360 remote. How do you make it see usb X-Arcade?I always thought apps like Xpadder mapped keyboard and mouse controls from controllers. Since the X-arcade is basically just a keyboard then I wouldn't expect it to work or be recognized by Xpadder. I haven't used Xpadder in years so I could be wrong. I would try remapping the controls using a script written in something like AutoHotKey or AutoIt. If that doesn't work then only other solution I have would be is to remap the controls on your X-arcade.
celly Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 I got Xpadder to work with my 360 controller but that's not really how I want to play this game. Remapping the actual X-Arcade isn't an option, I took it apart and to access the programing button is a pain. Joy2Key I guess is my next step then AHK I guess.

Joy2Key I guess is my next step then AHK I guess.I would expect Joy2Key to behave the same way, hence the name. But again it's just my opinion. I personally would go straight to the script, especially since it's an easy script to write. Unfortunately if that doesn't work then I don't know what to do from there.

Yeah J2K works pretty much the same as Xpadder. So with the AHK I do need help with that. Maybe when we're both around we can meet in chat and you can walk me through it.
headkaze Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Since this emulator is written by Aaron Giles it wouldn't suprise me if he's using Raw Input to read the keys. If this is the case then no key re-mapping app will work with it.I do have some code I've written a long time back that can inject and block keys for a game using Raw Input. It's an API hijack method and a bit of a hack. I will hopefully get around to polishing it up and getting it to work with any game (currently only works with MAME) and do a release. We may even be able to integrate it directly into GameEx at some time.
celly Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Thanks Headkaze. I'll just put the RB emulator to the side for now.
