I have just downloaded via google a load of n64 png images for my n64 emulator and put into the snaps draw but when i scroll threw the list in gameex the images do not show ... im simple, my question is what the heck an i NOT doing? do i need to make the images exactly the same as the rom name?

Yes. They need to match the ROM name (or at least be close and have best match turned on, but that's not always going to work out).

I think Tempest has a loader on the forum here that renames your art to match your rom name, but I use the EmuMovies tool to download snaps and have not needed it.

i have browsed emu movies for over an hour and cant find any n64 snaps :(

If you have an emumovies account, you can use the snaps downloader. I haven't tried it out yet, but it's billed as being able to find the roms that need content and only download those videos/snaps. It will also make sure the content matches the rom names so you won't need to take the extra step of using one of the matching tools.

You can use the EmuMovies downloader that comes with GameEx. It's one of the sub-folders Unregistered users can download 250MB per day. Just point the downloader to your rom folder and it will find the appropriate artwork.
