I'm trying to get Stella to work in GameEx and I can't figure ou what's going wrong. The command line in my config looks like this:

Stella.exe -fullscreen 1 "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"

However, when I look in the log after the game doesn't load properly (Stella launches to the menu acting like it can't find the rom), the cmd that was issued was:

cmd.exe /c C: Stella.exe -fullscreen 1 "C:\Roms\Atari 2600\Roms\Adventures of Tron (1983) (Mattel)_a26.7z"

Why is it looking for a .7z file? The rom is not a .7z file, it's a .a26 or .bin, and I thought Stella doesn't support 7z. If I take the rom and pack it so it's a 7z file, when stella launches I get a black screen and a fast paced beeping sound.

What stupid thing am I doing (or not doing)?

Thanks for the help!

Well it's adding that rom based on your filters and also your roms themselves. Perhaps play with those settings. So your roms are not 7zipped? They are uncompressed in the .a26 and .bin file extensions? Please post your config so that we can see your settings. Instructions on how to do so is located here.

Are you sure you don't have the 7z/GoodMerge option set to "yes" on the 3rd page of the emulator config under GameEx Advanced Config?

The rom filter field is empty and I have the 7z/GoodMerge option set to 'No'. The config settings are the defaults that get loaded in when you import the config for the 2600. I'll post my config file later today when I'm back in front of my machine.

The roms are uncompressed as either a .a26 or a .bin. If I compress them to be 7z and try to launch Stella I get a black screen and a fast paced beeping sound.

Should I try deleting my cache files?

it also supports .a26 and .bin, so there should be no reason to zip them. I know stella does not support 7z, however, when gameex launches stella it's passing .7z as the extension for the rom. Yes, the roms are working correctly outside of gameex.

Weird how it's changing the "." character to "_" (underscore) character and then adding 7z file extension. I've never seen that. Will just wait for OP's config to better troubleshoot.
