hi guys,

ok heres a good one for you get a grip with in daphne i have dragons lair and spaceace running works perfect except i dont have a score board,lives, coins, credits etc.... if i select lp1 or lp2 it crashes, ive heard somewhere you need an external scoreboard? is there no way of running a score in game on screen?

I dont think there is a during game scoreboard,if memory serves correctly,(and I could be wrong)I think you saw your score when your game has ended.Yes I do have DAPHNE setup and it works fine,but it more for completeness rather then something I play often.

it's in the command line.

Example when I run Space Ace this is what Game Ex sends to Daphne

Command line is: Daphne.exe ace vldp -blank_searches -min_seek_delay 1000 -seek_frames_per_ms 20 -homedir . -sound_buffer 2048 -fullscreen -x 1024 -y 768 -framefile vldp_dl/ace/ace.txt -useoverlaysb 2

the -useoverlaysb 2 is what you need to add I do believe.

DAPHNE can use a scoreboard from a REAL dragon's lair machine read about it HERE

and you can add overlays,which i believe the DAPHNE LOADER downloads for you

Like I said,I dont play much DAPHNE,once I got it up and running,the games werent as cool as I had thought they were......LOL

To be honest i dont play a lot of DLair or S.Ace L.Gs but a friend of mine was hooked as a kid so its there for them, its a " MAC " multipoint arcade cabinet, lol, and caters for a lot of people which is cool .

lol thanks to mesk for the link to the real score boards for Daphne now i know why my computer crashed when i asked Daphne to use either LPR1 or LPR2 the poor thing didn't know it was an I-pac that was connected pmsl ! Message to myself

hi ive added the -useoverlaysb 2 to the command line and still no go, im using beta 1.0 of daphine which is suppose to use the command unless im doing summit wrong?

Click on configure

Should be a line that says scoreboard mode.

set as MPEG VIdeo Overlay 1 or 2 Depending how you want it to look.

Thanks, yes i know about that but its for external scoreboards that connect to the pc, i dont have one i want to use on screen scoring but although i have Daphne beta 1.0 which is suppose to support it, i believe i may need an overlay file but i cant find one anywhere.

overlay isn't for an external scoreboard..it'll overlay score and lives on top of the screen. I use it who I play Dragon's Lair with GameEX. I can give you the command line tomorrow if need be.

I know its not for an external scoreboard, thats what im saying i want to overlay the score on the screen but i have used the -useoverlaysb 2 to the command line and still i get no screen score overlayed. What version of daphne are you using ? im using beta 1.0.

Game Options

-useoverlaysb <overlay number>

Enables a graphical scoreboard for Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, or Thayer's Quest. The 'overlay number' is the style of scoreboard. Currently the two choices for the 'overlay number' are 0 and 1. VLDP only.

So perhaps try the switch with 0 or 1 instead of 2?
