insert coin credit

just wondering how can i add a button to my joystick to add credits/coin on mame i know its 5 on a keyboard but when i plugged in my usb joystick i cant add credits i usually use select for credits and start for 1player start any help would be helpfull thanks

Just press the tab key in MAME and change the coin button in the interface controls (maybe it's system controls rather). It's not under the Player XX controls though, it's the last option on that screen.

Highlight the 'coin' option and press the button you want to use.
