I just updated to 5.30 and am having some quirky problems after the update.

First, I have a video folder set up for Intro Videos, these are not playing now. It is going straight to the loading screen.

Second, I used to be able to move my trackball over the game titles and I could use that to select the games...now it will not move the cursor bar any more. I have to use the joystick.

Third, when I exit GameEx, my background on the desktop is not reverting back to the original desktop background; it is staying black.

From what I can tell the options for problems 1 and 2 are setup correctly in the admin.

Anyone else experiencing these things?

1. What format are the video files in?

2. Can you plug in a mouse and see if that's working. Are you running at an Arcade Monitor resolution, or turned on ArcadeMode? This disables the mouse.

3. This was a problem in versions before 5.30 but should be fixed now. Could you confirm its deffinitly still happening in 5.30?

Thanks,

Tom

Ok..did some playing around tonight...here's what I've come up with. I just downloaded 5.31.

1. What format are the video files in? Both Files are MPEG

2. Can you plug in a mouse and see if that's working. Are you running at an Arcade Monitor resolution, or turned on ArcadeMode? This disables the mouse.

My PC is Dual Purposes in an Arcade Cabinet so a mouse is always connected to the PC. I have tried various themes...some will function and work with the mouse, some will not. I do not have this running in ArcadeMode.

I had been using the Default BlueEx 800X600 for a long time with no problems.

I seems that Default-Default, Default-GameEx, Default-DeepPurple are the ones I tried that will still function properly. Many of the other themes I tried will not work with the mouse any more (highlighting links and using mouse buttons to select)

3. This was a problem in versions before 5.30 but should be fixed now. Could you confirm its deffinitly still happening in 5.30?

Even trying these themes, they still are keeping my Desktop black after exiting.

I changed the option of Hide Desktop to NO to stop that problem.

do the files have the .mpeg extenstion or .mpg extension? Make sure there .mpg?

Are they are genuine mpeg 1 files? If not that could be why. I really dont know what could have changed that could stop them playing since random startup videos where introduced. Has anything else changed your end? Do the files play in Windows Media Player?

BlueEx runs in ArcadeMode. The mouse should never have worked. Not sure why it did. If you edit the theme.ini for that theme, and turn off ArcadeMode you should be able to get the mouse to work. If it was working before it was an unintended feature/bug.

Videos are working again..after the 5.31 install.

Mouse issue is resolved with a change in themes.

Any reason why the desktop background won't revert back when exiting GameEx?

2/3 is good going ;)

Dont know about the background at the moment. What OS, patches etc are you using? Do you have any software installed that could affect it. How are you exiting GameEx? Could you also post your log.

I keep my desktop theme as Windows Classic and then after exiting GameEx (which I use both the X in the Program or hit the Exit Button on my CP) it Displays Modified Theme. Not A Big Deal..but would like to see what is causing it at least maybe.
