Game's Won't Play

I just learned about GameEx today and was trying to play with it but can't seem to get the games to work. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I went through the basic setup and told it I wanted SNES and N64. I went into Emulated Games and tried playing the few games that were listed there which it seems to want to launch, screen goes black, but the games won't start. Any ideas on what is going wrong?

Welcome to the forums! Do you have the games for those systems? GameEx does NOT include any roms with it's install. If you installed the DEMO then it's to see how things navigate and show's off some features but again, roms are not included.

Just to add to frequency's statement... You will find NO front end that includes roms. The games must be obtained on your own. If you find a copy of a FE that does include roms, then it is not an official release and is not condoned by any author.

Ah cool. That I think was the problem.

The ROM still doesn't play if I go to Emulated Games / Nintendo SNES. I did set up GameEx to also have Snes9x so that is listed as [Console] Nintendo SNES (Snes9c) and plays through Snes9xbut how do I get it to play through the other? I like how it shows the game art and whatnot.

First things first. Does the game play correctly in the emulator without running GameEx? If it does, then you can move on to the FE side. If it plays outside of GameEx, then try running the "playitgame.bat" linked in the start directory.

Looks to play okay outside.

I think my issue is that I don't understand where GameEx should be looking for the ROMs.

You may want click on my signature, and check out the topics 'How to setup an emulator in GameEx' and 'How to ask for help'.

Specifically, in the 'How to setup an emulator in GameEx' thread, you need to set the paths to your emulator, and roms.

I use the advanced configuration program, but you can use the setup wizard to do the same thing.
