[RESOLVED] player 3 joystick escapes game?

Recommended Posts

Hey There,

First off I appreciate any feedback I get in advance. I am having a current issue with Gamex. I currently have a 4 player controller setup connected to multiple emulators with Gamex as the front end.

Whenever I am playing a game, and push "right" with the player 3 joystick, gamex exits the game. ( I have played these games directly through the emulator, so I know its not the game or button config of the game). I spent hours searching through settings, but couldnt find anything.

Please help!

Chriz,

What button is Player 3, Joystick "right"?

Are you using a keyboard encoder?--- EG the buttons type letters in notepad.

Does windows see your control panel as a joystick?

it is the "L" button.

Windows sees the control panel as a keyboard.

Does this apply to MAME, emulators, both? Is it just the "L" key that is causing this? No other button combination?

If for MAME, perhaps it's the Ingame CP View VK found in the Advanced MAME Settings section of setup. This defaults to "L". So may need to change this button so that it doesn't conflict with your setup. If it's not that then please give more info and we'll help troubleshoot.

I am not by the system now, so I dont know which letters correspond to the "buttons" but if I hit "player 1 start and Player 2 start" at the same time it 'escapes' the game as well.

I will try to access the "Advanced MAME settings" section when i get home and try that. I am a relative newbie who just purchased the system a week or so ago, so bear with my lame explanations :)

Aslo - what is CP/View

sounds like that could be what it is, if the default is "L" - i checked it on the notepad last night, and it was typing L. So I should just change this to a different button then. Can I eliminate it all together, as I already have another way to return to the control panel?

I'm looking forward to trying this out when i get home.

I appreciate the help, these forums are a tremendous help!

This is the virtual key code that when pressed will display the control panel when playing a game.

Not sure if it can be eliminated all together. I believe I remember it having to be set to something. So just change to another button that doesn't conflict with your control panel.

ok, I can't seem to find the setting you mentioned above. I launched Gamex, then went to configuration, but can't seem to locate where I would change the "l" imput to another button.

I also tried looking under "imput" but there didnt seem to an L to reprogram.

thoughts?

I apologize. Was not at my system so was going off the GameEx website. I guess it's outdated and many things have been changed. I will no long quote it. LOL. Brian is correct. It is found in Input Settings and the setting is In Game Key.

You can also find it by launching the Setup Wizard, Choose advance setup> Click NEXT about 8 times. You will be in Input settings. Note the screenshot for further instruction.
