video snaps\snaps question

for some games I do not have a video snap for it,so im wondering how do I get a still snap to show in the video snaps place?should I put the still snaps in the same folder as the video snaps?or will that show a still snap for all games....???

in the gamex configuration app, go to the basic mame settings.

you have a folder listed for "Snap Path" and "Video Snap Path"

you put a .png file in the Snap folder and the .avi in the Video Snap folder

* i set bot of these folder to the same for my setup (C:\games\mame\snap)

in my folder i have files like:

...

rtypeleo.avi

rtypeleo.png

rumblef.png

rygar.avi

rygar.png

...

so, for R-Type Leo (rtypeleo) i have both files and the video plays

for The Rumble Fish (rumblef) i only have the image, and it displays

for Rygar i have both and the video plays

thanks,but Im not talking about mame im talking about console like snes,nes,genesis etc.....

i don't have my gameex setup for anything but mame. i had a quick look and see in the "emulator" configuration pages i see only one entry for "Snap/Video Path".

i'd put the images and videos in the same directory. that should work.

Yes, you're correct. Also, the video files take precedence over snaps in these directories.
