hey all there is a new Demul v 56 according to the whatsnew command line support is now implemented so is there a chance for a mapfile for the working arcade games?

Posted

Thanx again Frequency :) gonna give this a go right now.

Actually give me a few cuz I noticed I did not remove the bioses in this version. Sorry. I just had whipped it out too quick. There will be a revised one in a few.

I can't get it to work. If someone does plz post your config file so I can edit mine thanx :)

New map file on submissions page. Changes include removal of bios files.

What's not working? The map file or the emulator?

Posted

Well I never ... command line support, thats a bonus!

(If I hadn't already adapted 0.5.5 scripts, updated .map & .ini files to suit 0.5.6... grrr... should have gone to specsavers!)

Embarrassing link

it's not the mapfile it's the emulator itself. Demul just sits there like duh.

Give me a few to troubleshoot since I haven't setup this emulator yet.

Are you running outside of GameEx? Any errors? Does it just stall? Please give more info.

it'll run outside of Game Ex fine. when I configured for Game Ex Demul just sits there like waiting for you to tell it what todo.

Well that's a good sign. Means all is working as far as the emulator is concerned. What is your command-line?

Posted

demul.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

Well that would be the reason. To run naomi roms then try the following:

demul.exe -run=naomi -rom=[ROM]

Posted

oh I thought with the mapfile it would run like Mame. Oops :blink:

No. Map file will just give it the friendly name to be displayed in GameEx. It is always required to run the rom the way the emulator itself requires it. Also......MAME would run it as mame.exe [ROM] so that is different than what you posted. And that's of course if a mame.ini file is used or else it would require more parameters.

even with the command life modification you still have to select the game from within Demul

Which rom are you trying to load? Also please post your emulator config for that emulator. Go to the chat room so we don't have to go back and forth in just the forums.

Can't get in the chatroom for some reason. But here's the config.

[Emulator_51]

Enabled=True

STARTPAGENAME=Demul (Naomi)

TITLETEXT=Demul

StartPageLogo=Arcade

WorkingPath=G:\Emulation\Demul 0.5.6

RomPath=G:\Emulation\Demul 0.5.6\roms

Command=demul.exe -run=naomi -rom=[ROM]

SnapPath=C:\Snap\Sega Naomi [Videos][AVI-HQ][EmuMovies 20081022]

MapKeys=True

MAPFile=C:\GameEx\MAP FILES\DEMUL 0.5.6.map

configFile=[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close)

Ok. That looks correct. And you setup the path to the roms in Demul? Try running in debug mode in GameEx or simply from command-line as I don't see why it's not working. I tested and works fine on my end.

It works on my computer at home. I'ma hafta debug my laptop at work. So I guess I'll have to set up for Atomiswave now. Thanx Frequency for the help. Top notch as always :)

I guess it would be good to make map files based off the system instead of the whole emulator. I'll look to see if there's an easy way of doing so. If not then I'll just do by hand since doesn't seem like it's that many.

As far as it not running on your laptop....is that the system you had working outside of GameEx?

Hope I am not stepping on toes but here are the edited mapfiles per system (Based on Frequency's work). I also edited out the non working games.

Nice. Thanks for the contribution. Glad you got it all figured out. ;) . No toes stepped on at all. I will look into it and repost in the submissions page so it won't be lost.
