Hello forum

I am running MAME32UI and a non registret version of GameEx (not yet, still trying to get it to work proberly).

When running GameEx I would like to sort my gamefiles to a minimum, so only MAME roms that is stored on my computer is visible in the GameEx gamelist.

The problem is, that GameEx shows many more MAME roms that I have installed on the computer??? In the configuration I have set the option "use only excisting games" to YES. Still more games are shown in the gamelist. In this case I 110 roms installed on the computer, but the GameEx gamelist shows about 160 games??? I dont wanna se a lot of games, I wanna see my games!!!

Does anybody know how to make this work. Please let me know.

Regards

Morten

Anytime you make a change to the rom filters for Mame, you have to update your list from within GameEx to apply the changes. If you do not see the option to 'Update List' then you may have to enable it in your configuration.

Thanks, but I am allready aware of that I have to update the gamelist every time I adjust the options. But that doesnt help at all.

Havent you guys experienced the same problem?

What other filters do you have? Something obviously is going on in that end since it's not showing what you're expecting to. Might wanna upload your gameex.ini so we can have a look see.

I have attached the ini file. Maybe you can see what I am doing wrong. My goal with this, is to have a gamelist in GameEx that only contains the MAME roms I have on the computer

You can't upload a file with a .ini extension. A pdf file works, but the easier solution is to just rename the file to a .txt extension.

Hallo forum

I you want GameEx only to show the games that are on the computer, what do you do? How does your setup looks like?

The reason that I ask is that I have set the setting "only show existing games" in the config menu set to Yes, and still the GameEx shows a bounch of other games that I never have seen before!!!

I have 107 games on the computer and GamesEx shows about 157. And it has nothing to do with clones and stuff. The game list shows games that never have seen before.

I hope that someone can help me.

I allways refreshes the gamelist after adjustment of filters :)

But it is the same 157 files that shows in the game list.

So I am still looking for some help!!!

In my quest for succes in solving my problem with incorrect gamelist in GameEx, I once again post a topic about this problem  .

what I want is, to have the MAME gamelist in GameEx only to show rom games which is present on my computer. For now I have about 100 Mame games on the computer, but the gamelist shows about 150???

I am planning to do a MAME cabinet and I dont want a gamelist full of games which are not present on the system.

In my configuration, the setting "Only existing roms" is set to Yes. I allways refreshes the gamelist after adjustments in the configuration. But still the gamelist is incorrect!

I my effort to narrow down the problem I have tried to remove all the games from the library, and by that start from scratch. This should under normal circumstances do that the gamelist in GameEx after a refres, should be empty!!! But it is not case. The gamelist now shows 103 games instead of the before 150!!!

When running MAMEUI, the correct amount of games is shown in MAMEs gamelist, but not in GameEx

So my "cry out" here, goes to anyone and maybe the admin or developer to help me in my quest for a "true gamelist" Something must be wrong and it must be possible to solve this problem.

I have attached my Gameex.ini file in hope that someone with extreme knowledge or an old vice person know how the GameEx works in details I thereby are able to help me

Many regards

Morten

Can you post a log from when you update your list?

The thing I'm seeing is that you have no formatting like I do in my gameex.ini file. Perhaps Tom has removed the extra stuff since everything is updated via the two setup programs, so this may not be a big deal. The other thing is that you have 2 instances of "MAMEEXE=" in the file. The first one points GameEx to your MameUI32.exe file which should work. The second one points to nothing (it's empty). I'm wondering if that second entry is wiping out the exe. BUT, if that were happening, you would have failed updates and you wouldn't be able to play any games.

Thanks for your reply. I have attached the log fil.

I belive that the reason for the 2 instanes which point to "MAMEEXE=" is that I earlier used the ordinary MAME, which may be in the system.

Another strange thing is that, when refreshing the gamelist after adjustments, names of games that I never heard of nor downloaden appears on the gamelist???

I merged the 3 topics into 1.

Hodomakfiken - I don't know if it will help (probably not) but try clearing the path to your mameui32 favorites.

Oh yeah, and update your list. :P

Yehaaaaaa!!!

Thats it, my quest has finaly ended :D:D:D

The MAMEUI32 folder called "Folders" contains two config files called favorites.ini and costum.ini. In the costum.ini are listed "golden age" games. All the games listed here in this ini files, matches what the GameEx gamelist was showing. Now I have delete theese games in the costum.ini file, and wupty the gamelist now showing the correct content.

Thanks to every one who somehow have contributed to solving my little problem.

Many regards

That was my suspicion, however, I would have thought that since you had 'Only Roms' set to 'True', that GameEx would only display the 'Golden Age' Games that you had roms for...

Posted

That sounds like a bug, doesn't it? Seems like even if you have roms in a custom folder, they should not be listed if you have "Only valid roms" turned on. What do you think Tom?

Posted

I was meaning to get to this thread. I actually thought that was the issue. Its by design since a few versions back. GameEx forecfully adds custom lists and favorites to the list.

Posted

Since that's by design, what is the benefit of doing it that way? Seems like you forcefully add a game that doesn't exist to the list which just creates an item that frustrates guests and doesn't allow the builder any benefit. What am I missing.
