Well, I've been running GameEx for a while now and had pretty good luck with it. I have several emulators loaded and have been using video snaps/icons for each game with Alpha Blended videos set to on along with all other bells and whistles. PC is a P4 3.0 2GB RAM. Nothing special, but does the job.

Starting a few days ago my video snaps take at least 10 sec to appear after stopping on a game title. I turned off alpha blended vids and all other enhancements, but it made no difference. Any thoughts as to why? Was near instant before. Thanks

This has been a problem for some time. The video snaps used to start immediately, but several months ago I noticed that they took several seconds to load. I don't have access to a log, sorry.

Last log attached and yes, I did update GameEx a few weeks back after no updates for probably 2-3 years. Machine has been offline a very long time.

Anything else I should try? I'll try some other themes and see what happens.

If you're system has been offline for that long, a couple of things I would try is updating any graphics drivers. Also might wanna try updating the codecs as well.

Same Problem here to... Sometimes the Video Snaps need 5-10 seconds to show on a Athlon64 3200+.

Here is my Log, hope it helps

I'm thinking the codecs may be a concern because I'm realizing now that often the video never loads, just stays blank. Probably haven't updated ffdshow in a long time. I did update my video card drivers, but it's a Radeon 9600 so there hasn't been anything really new in years. I'll try those things when I get home. Maybe I should look into getting a new vid set, too.

A new codec might help, but that doesn't explain the problem. When I installed things way back when, the videos loaded immediately. I didn't change anything on the codec side but, at some point, there was a significant slowdown introduced. When I get things back up, I'll update the codec to something current, but that shouldn't be the resolution...unless Tom switched how videos are played, that is.

For reference, I'm also running an Athlon XP 3200+.

I would try newer codecs for sure and several things have changed in the last year or so We went to using modern techniques for rendering video snaps, along with Direct3D and creating snaps on a thread.

Something I noticed on my cab which is runnig an older single core sempron at 1.8ghz is that its slow playing a video if there was no snapped displayed previously otherwise its instant. I actually tried to address this in 11.14 as I thought it might be a bug. I dont think I see the issue now. So I would think the issue is down to codecs or fixed in the latest release. Be sure to uninstall all codecs first before upgrading. Also DVD software tends to install other codecs too, which are often slow and crap.

Awesome, thanks for the info Tom. I killed the old CCCP codecs and reloaded ffdshow and it's back to gravy. Guess I'm a little rusty after such a long hiatus.

Hmmm, If that fixed it for you, then I'll have to give this a try. I just dug out the PC from the cab yesterday to play with a new CGA monitor (and hopefully not fry anything). I'll check out a new set of codecs while I'm at it.

Thanks for the info!
